Chapter 1
I had just graduated from college and was about to start my first job.
The company I was going to work for was a prestigious one in Shanghai, and the salary was not bad.

I got up early in the morning, put on makeup, and dressed myself up carefully.

"Yes, today is my first day at work."
I nodded and replied shyly.

As if they were looking at a rare animal in a zoo.
"My name is Jason Wu. What's your name?"
The man introduced himself to me with a smile, completely ignoring his colleagues' curious gazes, which made me admire him even more.
"My name is Xia Li. It's nice to meet you."
I stretched out my hand and smiled at him.
"So we are colleagues from now on?"
Jason grabbed my hand and shook it gently while looking at me with his deep eyes.
"Yes. I am an intern who has been assigned to your project team. The one called Kyle told me that you are the supervisor of our project team."
Jason Wu looked at me with a smile on his face.
His tender gaze made me feel like he was looking at his lover, rather than his new colleague who had just met him for a few minutes.
But in the next second, Jason took back his gentle gaze and said to me with a smile, "Since we are colleagues from now on, you can call me Jason."
"Okay."
I nodded obediently as I looked at him with a smile.
Jason Wu was very tall and handsome.
He had a charming smile on his face that would make women want to be close to him when they saw it.
"Your desk is next to mine. We'll go up to the 25th floor together later."
Jason chatted with me casually as if he were talking to an old friend of his rather than someone who had just met him for a few minutes.
When we arrived at the 25th floor, we got off the elevator together and followed the signs to find our team's meeting room (TL: directly translated as "office").
When we reached our destination, we found that there was already someone inside.
"Hello, I'm Jason Wu. Today is Xia Li's first day here, so I brought her over," Jason said to the man who was standing by the window.
"I know. Xia, this is Mei Chen. She'll be working on this project with us in the future," the man said with a smile as he looked back at us.
Mei Chen looked very young and pretty.
If she hadn't been wearing a pair of glasses, she would have looked like a college student rather than someone who had graduated from college for several years.
"Nice to meet you, Miss Mei."
I greeted her politely with a smile as I walked over to her and stretched out my hand.
Mei looked at my hand for a moment before shaking it gently with a smile.
"Xia, I'm not here as an intern. You don't have to call me 'Miss.'"
Mei smiled and said to her as she let go of my hand after shaking it gently.

I was stunned when I heard what Mei said, because she didn't look much older than me; how could she not be an intern?
However, I quickly realized that I had misunderstood her because she was wearing casual clothes and didn't look formal enough to be a regular employee of the company.
"It's okay. Let's get along well in the future," I replied awkwardly as I scratched my head shyly.
