Chapter 1
I was at the bar when I saw her.
She was sitting with a group of friends, laughing and having a good time.
It had been years since I’d last seen her, but she hadn’t changed a bit.
Her long blonde hair still hung down to her waist, and her piercing blue eyes were just as bright as they’d always been.
I watched her for a while, taking in the way she moved and the sound of her laughter.
God, I missed that laugh.
I missed everything about her.
I felt like an old man sitting at the bar, surrounded by college students who were probably just out for a good time.
I wasn’t sure why I’d come here tonight; it certainly wasn’t my scene.
I’d never been much of a partier when I was in school, and now that I was older, it just felt wrong to be here.
But there I sat, nursing my beer and trying to blend in with the crowd.
And then she walked in.
Long blonde hair down to her waist, bright blue eyes, and legs for days.
She was gorgeous, stunning even.

And she was completely out of place on a Tuesday night in this dingy college bar.
But as soon as I heard her laugh, I found myself drawn to her like a moth to flame.
It had been years since I’d last heard that sound, but it was etched into my memory forever.
She made her way over to one of the tables in the corner of the room, and as she got closer, I realized who it was.
My heart started racing in my chest as I watched her settle into a chair and start chatting with her friends.
It couldn’t be… no way…
But there was no mistaking that voice or those piercing blue eyes.
It was her: Emily Carter—my girlfriend from high school.
Obsession's Dangerous Game
We hadn’t spoken since we’d broken up all those years ago, and even then, our relationship had been complicated.
We were both young and stupid and full of insecurities; it was doomed from the start.
But as I watched her laugh and smile with her friends, all those memories came flooding back.
She hadn’t changed much—not really.
Sure, she looked more mature now than she did when we were kids, but there was still something so youthful about her.
There was a vibrancy and an energy about her that lit up the room whenever she walked in. It was impossible not to notice her—or to want to stop and stare at how beautiful she looked with the light from the bar shining on those long blonde locks.
I couldn’t take my eyes off of her as she settled into a chair at one of the tables across the room from me.
Her long hair flowed over her shoulders like liquid gold as she leaned forward to listen to something one of her friends said.
