I've always had a lot of dreams.
Not the kind where you move around and stuff happens.
The kind where you're asleep and you're aware, at least somewhat.
You know you're dreaming, but you can't stop it.
Usually I'm flying.
Sometimes I'm in a place I've never been.
It's always nice there.
Sometimes I'm with people I know.
Usually I don't know who the people are in my dreams.
I've always assumed that everyone has these kinds of dreams.
Until recently, that is.
When I was twenty two, something happened to me.
I was in a car accident.
I wasn't supposed to survive.
I was in a coma for a month.
When I came out of it, I could hear the thoughts of the people around me.
At first it was overwhelming.
I could hear everything anyone around me was thinking, not just what they said.
It was hard to separate their thoughts from my own.
