I was always told that dragons never existed.
I was lied to.
In the mystical realm of Eldrador, where dragons are believed to be the guardians of ancient magic, I never thought I’d find one.
But here I am, standing in front of a purple egg.
It’s covered in dust and looks as if it hasn’t been touched in centuries.
The egg is large, at least five feet tall, and shaped like a teardrop.
As I stare, a shiver runs down my spine.
What if this egg hatches?
What if I have a dragon?
A dragon is a powerful creature, one that could give me the upper hand against my brother.
Rylan is a rogue mage seeking power, and one that will stop at nothing to get it.
With a dragon at my side…
No.Getting ahead of myself.
First, I need to make sure this egg is going to hatch.
I crouch beside the egg, my heart pounding in my chest.
My palms are slick with sweat, and I’m not sure if it’s from excitement or fear.
I brush away some of the dust, revealing intricate patterns on the surface of the egg.
They look like runes, but I don’t recognize them.
I’m not even sure if they’re real.
Maybe this is just a rock or a statue.
But deep down, I know it’s not.
This is a dragon egg, and it could change everything.
"Elara," Jaxon whispers urgently from behind me.
"We need to move it."
I nod, still staring at the egg in awe.
But as I reach for it, I hesitate.
Who left this here?
And why?
Was it a trap?
A trick?
I glance around the ancient ruins we’re standing in, looking for any signs of who might have left this here.
But there’s nothing except crumbling stone and overgrown bushes.
Rylan’s shadowy presence lingers in my mind, though.
He would want this power for himself, and he’d stop at nothing to get it.
If he finds out about this…
No, I won’t let him find out.
