Six teenagers from rural northern Germany, brave, kind, smart, pretty, small, quick, cheeky, motherly, sensible, and pretty again.
All six of them are walking across all of Europe, from village to village, from one place to another.
Minimal use of vehicles is allowed, and the journey starts in Wallenhost, municipality Belm, district of Osnabrück.
They are wild camping and having spontaneous hotel nights whenever they feel like it.
The daily updates of their journey are uploaded on their small YouTube channel.
From somewhat unclear sources, two of them have unlimited financial resources.
Philipp Krusche and Kolja Beermann have access to all the money they could ever need.
Due to some random events that happened when they were kids, none of them are aging.
As a result of this, Philipp and Kolja are considered legal adults and take on the role of guardians for the girls.
There is only one catch: a curse binds them all together.
Philipp and Kolja can never be more than one kilometer apart or stay within the same municipality.
The girls must stay within 100 meters of at least one of the two boys.
Die Unsterblichen
I lead our group along a winding country road, with Philipp walking beside me while the girls trail behind us within their required distance.
The late afternoon sun beats down on us, and I can see that my shirt is already damp with sweat.
We pass by endless fields of unripe wheat, and the air is filled with the sweet scent of blooming wildflowers.
Carla complains about the heat, but we all know it's nothing compared to the sweltering temperatures we've faced in other parts of Europe.
We stop at a small farm stand selling sour cherries, and the girls eagerly sample the tart fruit, making exaggerated faces at its bitterness.
I pull out my phone to check our location and see that we're making good progress toward the Dutch border.
But I also notice that the humidity is increasing, and I suspect a storm might be brewing in the distance.
"Kolja, do you think the storm will break our curse?" Philipp asked, glancing at the darkening sky.
"I doubt it," Kolja replied with a wry smile, "but maybe it'll wash away some of our bad luck."
Carla chimed in, her voice hopeful, "Or at least give us an excuse to find a cozy inn for the night."
Die Unsterblichen
We spot a rustic inn ahead just as the first fat raindrops hit the pavement.
The girls quicken their pace, and we all rush inside, laughing and shaking off the rain.
The innkeeper looks at our sweaty group with suspicion, but when I pull out some cash, he hands over two room keys without a word.
The girls head upstairs to freshen up, while Philipp and I linger in the common room, watching the storm through the grimy windows.
The lightning illuminates the rolling hills and fields, and we can hear the distant rumble of thunder.
Die Unsterblichen
The storm intensifies, and I feel a strange tingling sensation in my chest - like the curse is responding to the electricity in the air.
I glance at Philipp, and he seems to feel it too, gripping the wooden table tightly.
