Captain Rennan Thorne

military leader in the war against aliens, superior to Dr. Voss and ally to Zella's father's legacy, short brown hair, hazel eyes, authoritative and strategic.

Dr. Elara Voss

scientist involved in the experiments, colleague of Dr. Rennan and acquaintance of Zella, long silver hair, blue eyes, intelligent and secretive.

Zella Marlowe

central character, relationships with other protagonists, short black hair, green eyes, resilient and curious.

I was running late, but then I got stuck in the elevator.

And not just any elevator, one that only had two stops: sub-level one and the roof.

I was on my way to see Dr. Elara Voss about the strange side effects I’d been having since the experiment.

I tried pushing the buttons, but nothing happened.

I pounded on the walls, hoping someone would hear me.

"Hello?" I called out.

"Anyone?"

No one answered.

The lights flickered, and for a second I thought I was going to be trapped forever.

Then they brightened, and the doors slid open with a hiss.
