Ling Chen
She is a 28yearold student at Tsinghua University in Beijing. She is adventurous, courageous, and selfreflective. One night, Ling discovers a mysterious meteorite that changes her life forever. Under its influence, she transforms into Dark Star, a powerful dualistic superheroine/villainess. With enhanced strength and abilities, she fights crime during the night and attends classes by day. Ling struggles with her dual identities but finds fulfillment in her nighttime alter ego’s crusade against evil.
Dr. Zhang
He is a physics professor at Tsinghua University. He is intelligent, supportive, and curious. One night, he meets Ling Chen under unusual circumstances. Recognizing her intelligence and potential, he helps her understand the properties of the meteorite that transformed her into Dark Star. His insights contribute to Ling’s selfdiscovery and further fuel her desire to harness her newfound powers for good despite the challenges of keeping her secret identities separate.
Night Owl
He is a fellow vigilante operating in Beijing at night. He is mysterious, skilled, and competitive. Initially perceptive when they cross paths in the skies, he becomes intrigued by Ling’s presence as Dark Star. Their encounter sparks a catandmouse dynamic as they both use nighttime to operate and fight crime. Although they share similar goals, Night Owl’s presence forces Ling to be more vigilant about potential threats and alliances in the shadows.

One night, I found a meteorite and my life changed since then.
I became Dark Star, a dual superheroine and villainess.
By day, I am a hero of justice; at night, I am a villainess.
My story begins here.
At 11 o'clock one night, I walked out of the library and went back to my dormitory.
The sky was dark and the stars shone faintly.
I walked on the modern university campus of Tsinghua University in Beijing, China.
Suddenly, I heard a hissing sound from far away.
It grew louder and louder, and then a fireball appeared in front of me!
It shot down from the sky and landed on the grass about 50 meters away from me.
The ground was shaken violently.
I felt scared and stopped where I was.
A few seconds later, it became quiet again.
I slowly walked toward the fireball.
When I reached the grass, I saw a lump of smoky black iron.
Its surface was hot and emitting smoke; hence, it smelled bad.
I circled around it and found that it was about 1 meter in diameter.
I hesitated at the edge of the impact crater and watched the smoke rise from the black mass.
The surface of the meteorite was still hot, but it was not as hot as before.
I could see that it was covered with a layer of metallic black material, and under this layer, there was a faint purple light.
The grass around the crater was scorched, but I noticed that the air temperature seemed to be dropping rapidly.
I was a science student, and I had always been curious about things like this.
I took a step closer to the meteorite, then another.
As I got closer, I could see that the purple light under the surface of the meteorite was getting brighter and brighter.
It seemed to be responding to my presence!
My heart began to beat faster and faster.
Crouching at the edge of the crater, I studied the pulsing purple glow.
It seemed to be in sync with my own heartbeat, and I felt a strange connection to it.
The metallic surface of the meteorite had cooled enough that wisps of steam no longer rose from it.
I extended a trembling hand toward the rock, my fingertips just centimeters away from its surface.
The purple light grew even brighter, casting strange shadows across my skin.
In the distance, I heard the shout of a campus security guard.
"Hello? Is anyone there?"
I didn't move.
Instead, I pressed forward, my palm hovering just above the surface of the meteorite.
It was still warm to the touch, but not hot enough to burn me.
The guard's flashlight beam swept across the grass, illuminating the darkened area around the crater.
I held my breath, waiting for him to find me.
But he didn't seem to notice me.
He was too far away, and his light wasn't strong enough to reach me. The purple light from the meteorite intensified, filling my vision with its pulsing glow.
I felt a strange energy building inside me, as if something was awakening within my body.
My heart pounded faster and faster, and I could feel my blood rushing through my veins.
The guard's light moved closer and closer, illuminating the grass around me.
I knew I had to make a decision quickly.
I placed my hand on the meteorite, and everything changed.
As my fingers made contact with the surface of the meteorite, purple energy streams shot up my arm, like electric currents flowing through my body.
The metallic material on the surface of the meteorite began to liquefy, flowing like molten lava onto my skin.
It spread across my body in waves, covering me in its dark, metallic sheen.
My clothes transformed into a sleek black PU costume with silver accents, complete with a flowing cape that billowed behind me.
The guard's footsteps grew louder as he approached the crater.
I could hear his breathing, heavy and labored, as he struggled to catch his breath.
I felt my body begin to lift off the ground, as if I were being pulled upward by an invisible force.
Purple energy crackled around me, filling the air with its electric charge.
The darkness seemed to fade away, replaced by a brilliant light that illuminated everything around me.
I could see every detail of the scene before me, from the smallest blade of grass to the distant lights of the campus buildings. The security guard rounded the corner, his flashlight beam cutting through the night like a sword.
He stopped in his tracks when he saw me, his eyes wide with shock and confusion.
I raised my hand instinctively, and purple energy surged through my palm.
The guard stumbled backward, his flashlight falling to the ground with a loud thud.
I could feel the power coursing through my veins, urging me forward.
I took a step toward him, and then another, until I was standing right in front of him.
He looked up at me with a mixture of fear and awe in his eyes.
The purple energy coalesced around my body, taking shape and form.
It materialized into sleek black PU that hugged my curves, a fitted bodysuit that accentuated every muscle.
I watched in awe as the metallic substance wove itself into a protective chest piece, crafted from Lycra fiber that provided both flexibility and strength.
At the center of the chest piece, a silver diamond shield emerged, adorned with an intricate pentagram design.
The borders of the shield gleamed with a soft light, as if infused with an otherworldly energy.
The transformation continued downward, flowing across my legs and arms like molten lava.
A short skirt formed around my hips, made from the same metallic material as the bodysuit.
It fell just above my knees, revealing a pair of knee-high boots that hugged my legs like a second skin.
The boots were made from the same Lycra fiber as the chest piece, providing both protection and flexibility. As I moved, I could feel the costume responding to my every action.
It was like a second skin, conforming to my movements with ease and grace.
I flexed my muscles, feeling the power surge through me like electricity.
My senses seemed heightened, as if I could perceive everything around me with greater clarity and precision.
I looked down at my hands, marveling at the way they seemed to glow with an inner light.
The purple energy pulsed through them, filling me with a sense of strength and vitality.
