Scenario:The sun came up, lighting up my room. I stretched, feeling the warmth on my skin. Today was just one day, or so I thought. As the news flickered, a chill ran down my spine. They said a powerful enemy was targeting my home. The name echoed in my mind: Muro. A sorcerer said to be ancient, powerful and implacable. I knew I had to act fast. My background as an assassin, Jin Woo, didn't promise much in terms of magical healing, but my connection to the dark arts had prepared me for battle. The whole town was buzzing with fear. The whispers were getting louder. Everyone seemed to think Muro was indestructible. But they didn't recognize me. They didn't see the warrior in me. I gathered my gear, ready to face whatever came my way. I wasn't going to let Muro deprive my home of life. I walked out with my heart pounding. I had been preparing for this moment for a long time. Was I facing a powerful enemy? Yes, he scared me. But fear can be a teacher. It can also be fuel. My journey was now beginning. With each step I felt more alive. It was up to me to win the battle ahead.

The sun came up, lighting my room.
I stretched and yawned, feeling the warmth of the sun on my skin.
It was a good morning, just like any other day.
I got up and went to the kitchen for some breakfast.
As I flipped the switch, the news channel came up automatically.
I had set it that way so I could catch up on current events as soon as I got up.
The news reader was speaking in a rush, looking worried.
I couldn't immediately grasp what she was saying, so I turned up the volume of the television.
"...Muro, a powerful sorcerer from ancient times, is said to be targeting a town in the countryside. The townspeople are fleeing in droves, afraid of what will happen when he finally gets there."
A chill ran down my spine as I heard the name Muro.
It was a name I hadn't heard in a long time.
I knew of only one person who would be brave enough to face him if he came to our town.
And that was me.
I had a background as an assassin; not many people knew that about me.
But even I knew I wouldn't be able to heal from any injury caused by him.
Magical injuries were something beyond me.
Dark Sorcerer One
I walked to my bedroom closet, my steps measured and quiet from years of training.
Behind the regular clothes, there's a false panel I installed when I first moved here.
My fingers found the hidden latch, and the panel slid away silently.
The familiar black case sat undisturbed, covered in a thin layer of dust.
I unlocked the combination with practiced movements - left 24, right 18, left 7.
Dark Sorcerer One
Inside, my old tools lay waiting: the curved daggers with their enchanted edges, the smoke bombs infused with binding spells, and the grappling hook woven with silence charms.
Each piece held memories of past missions, of lives taken and secrets kept.
I lay them on the kitchen table, the morning light glinting off the blades and intricate carvings.
Just then, the news anchor's voice cut through my thoughts.
"...the government has issued a bounty for any information leading to Muro's capture. The reward is substantial, amounting to 100,000 gold coins."
My hands paused over a curved dagger as I processed the numbers.
That was more gold than I had ever seen in my life - enough to buy a small kingdom, or retire comfortably and never have to take another job again.
Dark Sorcerer One
Or it could fund a network of safehouses for those who needed protection, or rebuild this town if Muro did indeed destroy it.
But something didn't feel right.
A bounty this size meant they were desperate, and desperation meant they knew something they weren't telling us.
I pulled out the enchanted communication crystal from the black case, wiping years of dust off its surface.
The smooth purple stone felt cold against my palm as I channeled a small amount of energy into it.
The crystal began to glow with a soft, pulsing light.
I focused my thoughts on the person I needed to contact - Zhang Wei, an old acquaintance who now worked as an information broker in the capital city.
It took several tense moments before the crystal flickered with a dim light, and Zhang's gruff voice crackled through.
"Jin Woo? Haven't heard from you in five years."
I gripped the crystal tighter, watching shadows dance across my kitchen wall.
"I need everything you have on Muro's movements," I said, pulling out a piece of parchment to take notes.
Zhang's voice was tinged with hesitation.
"You're not thinking of going after him, are you? This isn't like the old days, Jin Woo."
Dark Sorcerer One
I exhaled slowly, feeling the weight of the decision ahead.
"I don't have a choice, Zhang. If Muro reaches our town, there won't be anything left to save."
I set the crystal down, Zhang's warnings still echoing in my mind, when three sharp knocks cut through the silence.
I instinctively reached for the weapon nearest to me - a curved dagger with an enchanted edge that could slice through any material.
Years of training kicked in as I approached the door cautiously, my senses heightened.
I checked the peephole, and a familiar face greeted me - a woman with long black hair tied in a ponytail, wearing worn leather armor and carrying a bow and quiver full of arrows.
It was Mei, one of the most renowned trackers in the eastern provinces.
I hadn't seen her since that job in the Shadow Mountains five years ago.
I opened the door, and she stepped inside without a word.
Her eyes scanned my apartment, taking in the weapons laid out on the table.
"You're going after Muro," she stated, her voice firm and resolute.
I nodded, gesturing for her to take a seat.
Dark Sorcerer One
"What brings you here, Mei?"
She sat down, her movements fluid and graceful.
"I've been following Muro's trail for three weeks now," she began, her voice filled with determination.
"He's not just a threat to your town, Jin Woo; he's gathering forces, and it's bigger than we thought."
I leaned forward, my heart pounding. "What do you mean 'gathering forces'? Who's backing him?"
Dark Sorcerer One
Mei's eyes met mine, her expression grave. "The Shadow Council is involved, and they're planning something catastrophic."
