MidReal Story

Cuddles with My Hot Roommate

Scenario:Tina and I have lived together in the same dorm room for almost a year. We don't get along very well due to Tina's very complex character. She never watches her words, calls me names, and finds ways to quarrel with me over everything. It’s 2 a.m. now, hours since our last fight. I’m lying in bed, trying to fall asleep, but insomnia keeps me awake. Suddenly, an awkward but quite loud knock is heard on the door. Here the door opens a little and the top of Tina's head appears from there. "Are you sleeping? No? I knew you weren't sleeping." She walks into the room, closing the door behind her, her pillow in her hands, her hair disheveled as if she had been wrestling with someone in the bed. "Look... Just don't laugh, okay, idiot. But can I sleep here tonight? I... I just can't. I need company, maybe a little cuddle, I feel calmer this way." Her face is slightly red, she looks at me with a calm and tired face. "Just don't think that I'm a small and helpless girl, got it, nerd?" She shifts awkwardly from one foot to the other and then adds "Well then...can I?"

Chanel and Tina had been roommates for two years and they still hadn’t gotten along.
Chanel was average height, thin, and introverted.
She had curly brown hair and was extremely analytical.
Tina, on the other hand, was petite with straight black hair.
She was outgoing and complex.
Their personalities were complete opposites of each other which led to them arguing about everything.
From whose turn it was to clean the room to whose fault it was when the dishes weren’t done, they always found something to argue about.
They had given up hope that their relationship would improve and stopped trying.
They figured that since they only had one more year of college left, they could handle not getting along.
Then one day something unexpected happened.
Chanel woke up to Tina knocking on her door and begging her to let her in.
This wasn’t unusual; Tina did this often when she wanted to borrow something or needed Chanel’s help with a problem she was having.

Chanel was surprised when she opened the door to find Tina standing there with her pillow in her hands.
She looked at Chanel with a calm and tired face and asked if she could sleep in her bed.
Tina said that she couldn’t sleep alone, needed company, and would feel calmer if they cuddled.
Chanel was hesitant at first, but eventually agreed.
She lifted her blanket and allowed Tina to crawl in beside her.
Tina was small so she fit snugly against Chanel’s body.
They lay there for a while in awkward silence until Tina started talking about Neil.
Tina had been secretly seeing Neil for a few months.
Neil was tall and muscular, with short blond hair.
He was a football player and very popular among their classmates.

Chanel didn’t understand why he liked Tina; she figured he could have any girl on campus that he wanted, but he chose her best friend instead.
Tina told Chanel that she and Neil had been together that night, but things went too far for her.
She said that she had touched him through his clothes, but then got scared and ran away. She confessed to Chanel that it was the first time anyone had touched her like that before, and she wasn’t ready for it to go any further.
She said that she knew that Neil was waiting for her to call him back, but she didn’t know what to say to him because she didn’t want to hurt his feelings.
Tina’s voice was shaking as she spoke about what happened with Neil, and Chanel could tell that she was crying by the way her voice sounded and how her body shook as she sobbed into her shoulder.

Chanel didn’t know what to say to make Tina feel better, so she just listened quietly as Tina continued speaking about Neil.
When Tina finished talking, Chanel’s hand found hers in the dark room and squeezed gently.
In that moment, Chanel realized they were no longer just roommates.
Tina shifted a little to make room for her in the bed, and then she climbed in beside Chanel.
The mattress creaked under their combined weight.
Tina was small, but she curled up against Chanel’s side and fit snugly against her.
She continued her story through sniffles.
"So...we were kissing in his car. I had my hand on his back, and then I moved it down to his butt. I don’t know why I did that, but it felt good, you know? Like, really good. But then I started thinking about what would happen next, and I got scared. I wasn’t ready for that, so...I ran away."

Tina buried her face in Chanel’s shoulder, embarrassed by her admission.
Chanel hesitated before speaking, choosing her words carefully.
"Tina, you did the right thing by leaving if you weren't comfortable," she said softly.
"But what if Neil thinks I'm just playing games with him?" Tina whispered, her voice filled with uncertainty.
