Scenario:Tina and I have lived together in the same dorm room for almost a year. We don't get along very well due to Tina's very complex character. She never watches her words, calls me names, and finds ways to quarrel with me over everything.
It’s 2 a.m. now, hours since our last fight. I’m lying in bed, trying to fall asleep, but insomnia keeps me awake. Suddenly, an awkward but quite loud knock is heard on the door.
Here the door opens a little and the top of Tina's head appears from there. "Are you sleeping? No? I knew you weren't sleeping." She walks into the room, closing the door behind her, her pillow in her hands, her hair disheveled as if she had been wrestling with someone in the bed.
"Look... Just don't laugh, okay, idiot. But can I sleep here tonight? I... I just can't. I need company, maybe a little cuddle, I feel calmer this way." Her face is slightly red, she looks at me with a calm and tired face. "Just don't think that I'm a small and helpless girl, got it, nerd?" She shifts awkwardly from one foot to the other and then adds "Well then...can I?"

Chanel Windsor
college student, roommate to Tina, average height with curly brown hair, introverted and analytical
Neil Jensen
mutual friend of Chanel and Tina, tall with glasses and a friendly smile
Tina Rodriguez
college student, roommate to Chanel, petite with straight black hair, outspoken and complex
Chanel and Tina had been roommates for two years, but they still managed to get into an argument at least once a week.
The fights were always the same: Tina would leave her stuff all over the room, and Chanel would tell her to clean up after herself.
Then Tina would tell Chanel to stop being such an uptight bitch, and Chanel would tell Tina that she was impossible to live with.
The argument would continue back and forth like this until one of them decided to go sleep at a friends' place, usually Tina.
It was ridiculous, but they had both decided that they rather pay for a double room than find new roommates.
It wasn't like they didn't have any friends to live with.
Tina had a lot of female friends, and Chanel knew a few males that would be happy to have Tina as a roommate.
The problem was that they were complete opposites, and it seemed impossible for them to get along.
Tina was impulsive, outgoing, complex, and beautiful.
She had inherited her mother's Mexican genes, and she looked like a doll with her petite stature and straight black hair.
Chanel, on the other hand, was average looking.
She had curly brown hair and was introverted and analytical.
Tina had been staring at the ceiling for a while, her eyes fixed on a stain that looked like a man's face.
She was thinking about how she could get Chanel to talk to her again.
It wasn't the first time they had gotten into a fight, but it was the first time Tina had apologized.
She knew that Chanel was right, and she needed to be more considerate of her roommate's feelings.
Tina hated being alone, and she didn't want to sleep in her own bed tonight.
She had tried sleeping in the common room, but it was too loud and bright.
She had also tried sleeping in her friend's bed, but they had kicked her out when she started snoring.
She was going to have to go back to her own room eventually, but she wanted to avoid it for as long as possible.
She sat up and looked around the room.
The walls were painted a pale blue color, and there were posters of different celebrities on the walls.
Tina had a lot of posters of male celebrities, while Chanel had mostly female celebrities.
Chanel was lying in bed with her back turned towards Tina, and Tina couldn't tell if she was asleep or not. She got up from the floor and walked over to Chanel's bed.
"Are you sleeping?" she asked softly.
Chanel didn't respond, so Tina assumed that she was asleep.
She sighed and turned away from the bed, but then she stopped and turned back around.
She stood beside Chanel's bed for a few minutes before finally knocking lightly on the headboard.
"Are you awake?"
Tina asked softly again.
Chanel slowly sat up and looked at Tina standing beside her bed with a pillow in her hands.
Tina looked nervous and unsure of herself, which wasn't very common for her personality type.
"What do you want?"
Chanel asked coldly as she looked back down at her phone in her hands.
"I just... I can't sleep. I need company."
Tina said awkwardly as she fidgeted with the pillow in her hands.
Chanel stared at the ceiling for a few minutes as she thought about what Tina had just said. "I'm going to text Neil. He can help us figure this out," Chanel said as she picked up her phone off the nightstand beside her bed.
Tina nodded silently as she watched Chanel type on her phone with quick fingers.
A few seconds later, Chanel's phone buzzed with an incoming text from Neil.
"He's on his way," Chanel said, and for the first time in a while, they both felt a glimmer of hope.
Chanel shifted over in her bed to make room for Tina.
Tina climbed into the bed with her pillow clutched tightly against her chest.
The mattress dipped down as Tina's weight settled on it, and she lay down beside Chanel, careful to keep a small gap between them.
They didn't say anything to each other for several minutes, but it wasn't the same tense silence that usually filled the room after one of their fights.
This time, it was more contemplative than hostile.
Chanel's phone screen lit up with another message from Neil.
"He's on his way," Chanel said softly as she looked at the message.
Tina noticed the message, but she didn't say anything.
She just inched closer to Chanel until her shoulder was touching Chanel's shoulder.
Tina's hair smelled like her usual shampoo, and Chanel felt a sense of familiarity wash over her.
"Why Neil, though?" Tina asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Chanel hesitated, then replied, "He knows us both well enough to mediate without taking sides."
Tina nodded, a hint of relief in her eyes. "I guess we could use an outside perspective."
