Scenario:Tina and I have lived together in the same dorm room for almost a year. We don't get along very well due to Tina's very complex character. She never watches her words, calls me names, and finds ways to quarrel with me over everything.
It’s 2 a.m. now, hours since our last fight. I’m lying in bed, trying to fall asleep, but insomnia keeps me awake. Suddenly, an awkward but quite loud knock is heard on the door.
Here the door opens a little and the top of Tina's head appears from there. "Are you sleeping? No? I knew you weren't sleeping." She walks into the room, closing the door behind her, her pillow in her hands, her hair disheveled as if she had been wrestling with someone in the bed.
"Look... Just don't laugh, okay, idiot. But can I sleep here tonight? I... I just can't. I need company, maybe a little cuddle, I feel calmer this way." Her face is slightly red, she looks at me with a calm and tired face. "Just don't think that I'm a small and helpless girl, got it, nerd?" She shifts awkwardly from one foot to the other and then adds "Well then...can I?"

Chanel Windsor
college student, roommate to Tina, average height with curly brown hair, introverted and analytical
Neil Jensen
mutual friend of Chanel and Tina, tall with glasses and a friendly smile
Tina Rodriguez
college student, roommate to Chanel, petite with straight black hair, outspoken and complex
Chanel and Tina had been roommates for two years in college.
They were never friends but ended up being roommates.
Their relationship was rocky and they had different personalities.
Chanel was quiet and never wanted to argue or get into trouble.
Tina, on the other hand, was outspoken and wanted to argue about everything.
She was never happy with anything and was a complicated person.
One day, they got into an argument over something stupid.
Tina ended up pushing Chanel down the stairs.
Chanel had to get ten stitches in her head and Tina had to pay five hundred dollars to Chanel.
They never spoke after that.
One day, Tina came to Chanel’s house and asked for forgiveness.
Chanel forgave her and they became friends.
Complications came when Neil Jensen, a mutual friend, fell in love with both of them.
I slide over to make room for her in my bed.
She climbs in and lies beside me, her body tense.
We lie there in silence for a few minutes.
"Chanel," she whispers.
I turn my head to look at her.
"What?"
She rolls onto her side so she’s facing me.
"I think we need to talk."
I nod, knowing this is going to be a long night.
"About Neil," she says.
I nod again, my stomach twisting with anxiety.
"He's been acting weird lately. Looking at us both the same way. Spending the same amount of time with us. Treating us both special."
I know exactly what she means.
I’ve seen it too.
The way he looks at us both, the way he holds our hands when we walk together, the way he makes sure we’re both included in his plans.
It’s like he can’t decide between us, so he’s trying to make it fair by treating us both the same.
"I don’t know what to do," Tina says, her fingers picking at my blanket.
"We need to talk to him. Together. Make him choose."
"Maybe we should just wait and see what happens," I say, but Tina cuts me off before I can finish. "Tomorrow. After his morning class."
Her tone is firm and leaves no room for argument.
"Okay, tomorrow it is," I agree reluctantly, feeling the weight of what's to come.
Tina sighs, her voice softening, "I just hope this doesn't ruin everything we've rebuilt."
I nod, understanding the fragility of our newfound friendship, "Me too, Tina. Me too."
As we drift off to sleep, I can feel Tina's body relax beside me, her shoulders sinking closer until they’re touching mine.
The warmth of her skin seeps into my bones, and I'm hyper-aware of every movement she makes.
I try to focus on the plan for tomorrow, but Tina's closeness is distracting.
I feel her turn onto her side, her breath tickling my neck as she whispers, "I just can't lose him."
Her fingers absently trace patterns on my arm, sending shivers down my spine.
I shift away slightly, trying to create some space between us.
But Tina pulls me back, wrapping an arm around my waist and holding me close.
Her lips nuzzle into my neck, sending a rush of heat through me.
I freeze, unsure of how to react.
