"Crypto Wealth: A Beginner’s Guide to Investing in Cryptocurrency, NFTs, DeFi and Web3 Technology"
By Sasha Evdokimova
"Hey there! I am thrilled you have joined me on this journey to learn about the amazing world of cryptocurrency investments.
My name is Sasha Evdokimova, and I am excited to share my knowledge and experience with you so that you too can generate wealth in the new digital economy.
Before we dive into the basics, let me tell you a little about myself and why I am qualified to teach you about crypto wealth.
I am a professional investor with years of experience in investing in traditional assets like real estate, stocks and bonds.
I grew up in a family of modest means, but my parents taught me the value of saving money from a young age.
Being curious about how to build wealth, I started reading books and articles on investing while I was still in school.
After completing my studies, I began putting my knowledge into practice and started investing in various assets.
Over time, I built a significant portfolio that allowed me to live comfortably without relying on family inheritances or handouts.
In my free time, I enjoy analyzing market trends and looking for new opportunities to invest my money.
A few years ago, I became fascinated by cryptocurrencies and digital assets.
I spent countless hours studying blockchain technology and learning how to invest in different types of digital coins and tokens.
My friend Nate also invests alongside me.
I settle into my home office, a cozy room with a large desk and a comfortable chair.
I open my laptop and pull up the simple diagram I created to show how transactions flow through a blockchain network.
Nate walks in with two cups of coffee and hands one to me.
He sits down in the chair beside my desk and looks over my presentation notes.
"Ready to start?" he asks.
I nod and adjust the lighting in the room so that it is bright enough for the camera to capture everything clearly.
I check the microphone to make sure it is working properly, then position myself in front of the whiteboard where the camera can see me clearly.
"Hello everyone," I say, smiling at the camera.
"Welcome to our video lesson on blockchain fundamentals. My name is Sasha Evdokimova, and I will be your instructor for this course. Today, we are going to cover some basic concepts related to blockchain technology, including how transactions are processed and verified on a blockchain network."
I pause for a moment to take a sip of my coffee, then continue speaking.
"Before we dive into the details, let me explain what a blockchain is. A blockchain is essentially a digital ledger that records all transactions made on a particular network. It is called a ‘blockchain’ because each transaction is grouped together with other transactions into a single block, which is then added to the ledger. This creates a permanent record of all transactions that have taken place on the network." I turn to the whiteboard and draw a simple diagram showing how blocks are linked together in a chain.
"This is what a blockchain looks like," I explain.
"Each block contains a list of all transactions that have taken place on the network since the last block was added. The blocks are linked together in a chain, with each block containing a reference to the previous block. This creates a permanent record of all transactions that have taken place on the network."
I pause for a moment to let everyone absorb what I have just explained, then continue speaking.
"Now, let’s talk about how transactions are processed on a blockchain network. When someone wants to send money or data over the internet using cryptocurrency, they create a transaction and broadcast it to the entire network. The transaction is then verified by special computers called nodes, which check to make sure that the transaction is valid and that it has not been tampered with in any way."
I turn back to the whiteboard and draw another diagram showing how nodes verify transactions.
Nate leans forward, studying the diagram intently.
"So, Sasha, does that mean every transaction is completely secure once it's verified by these nodes?" he asks, his curiosity piqued.
"Not entirely," I reply, meeting his gaze. "While blockchain technology is incredibly secure, it's not infallible; vulnerabilities can still exist if the network isn't properly maintained or if there are flaws in the code."
Moving from the basic concepts, I pull up a simple smart contract example on my second monitor.
"Think of it like a digital vending machine," I explain to the camera, gesturing at the code on the screen.
"When you put money in and select an item, the machine automatically dispenses it. Smart contracts work similarly; they execute specific actions when certain conditions are met."
Nate nods along, his eyes following my cursor as I highlight key parts of the code.
"For instance, let’s say we have a simple cryptocurrency exchange contract. When someone sends a certain amount of cryptocurrency to the contract address, it automatically sends them back another type of cryptocurrency in return."
I demonstrate this by sending a small amount of cryptocurrency to the contract address and showing how it is automatically exchanged for another type.
"This is just a basic example, but smart contracts can be used for much more complex transactions as well," I explain.
"They can be used to create decentralized applications, or dApps, which run on a blockchain network and allow users to interact with each other in new and innovative ways." Nate points out a potential security vulnerability in my example contract.
"Hey Sasha, wouldn’t that make it possible for someone to drain the contract of all its funds if they know how?"
I pause the recording and adjust the contract code to include additional security measures.
"Thanks for pointing that out," I say.
"I want to make sure our viewers understand both the power and limitations of smart contracts."
After making the adjustments, I restart the segment.
"This time, let’s include a warning about proper contract auditing," I suggest.
Nate nods in agreement.
