With her sweet and sensitive nature, she believed that someone like him needed love, despite their differences in wealth. What Alicia didn’t know was that he was deeply in love with her but didn’t show it.

I was in love with a mafia man.
A dangerous, wealthy mafia man.
He was so far out of my league it wasn’t even funny.
Our worlds collided, and I knew I’d lose in any battle against him.
Yet I couldn’t help but want him.
I wanted his love, his affection, his heart.
Even though he didn’t show it, I knew he had one.
It was there.
I felt it.
Sometimes he let me see it, like he let his guard down, and I saw the man behind the mafia don.
But then he’d cover it up again, and I was left wondering if I’d really seen it at all.
My friends thought I was crazy for wanting to be with him.
They didn’t understand why I’d risk my heart, my life, for someone like him.
Probably because they didn’t see what I did.
