"Captain, we are receiving a transmission," my chief engineer Lieutenant Ana Marković called out.
I turned away from the viewscreen and towards her.
"Do they identify themselves?"
I asked.
"No, Captain. The message is a repeat transmission of a voice saying 'Greetings, I am Ambassador Zorvath Xexu. We have been waiting for you. When you are ready, please meet us on the third planet in this system. We have something that belongs to you.'"
Ana looked at me with sharp eyes.
"It sounds like a trap, Captain."
"It could be," I agreed.
I looked back at the viewscreen.
The third planet was a blue-green world with white clouds and oceans.
It looked like a paradise compared to the black hole we'd narrowly escaped a week ago.
"I wonder what they think we have that belongs to them."
Ana shook her head.

"I don't know, Captain. But I think we should be cautious."
I nodded.
"Agreed. Prepare the Arkan team for a reconnaissance mission. We'll send them down first to gather information."
Ana nodded and turned away.
I watched her go, feeling a mix of curiosity and apprehension.
I'd never made contact with an alien species before, and I wasn't sure what to expect.
The unknown was always a threat, and I trusted Ana to keep my crew safe.
She was one of the best engineers in the fleet, and she had a sharp analytical mind.

She was also trained in combat tactics, and she could handle herself in a fight.
Still, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off.
I watched from the command deck as Ana gathered the Arkan team in the bay below.
They were all dressed in black tactical suits, armed with blasters and rifles.
Ana stood at the front of the group, talking to them quietly.
I couldn't hear what she was saying, but I knew she would be warning them about potential threats and going over their plan of action.
The team nodded as Ana spoke, looking determined.
They were all well-trained soldiers, but they were about to face something completely new.
"Captain, are you sure it's wise to send them without more intel?" Ana asked, her voice tinged with concern.
"We don't have the luxury of time, Lieutenant," I replied, my tone firm but understanding. "Every moment we delay could be another step into the unknown, and we need answers."
Ana hesitated, then nodded resolutely.

"Yes, Captain."
She turned away, leading the Arkan team towards the exit.
I watched them go, feeling a mix of pride and worry.
They were my best soldiers, and I trusted them to get the job done.
But they were about to face something completely unknown, and I couldn't help but wonder if I was sending them into danger.
Ana led the Arkan team through the dense foliage of the alien planet.
The air was thick with tension as they moved in formation, their blasters at the ready.
The trees were taller than any they'd seen before, their trunks thick and gnarled.

The leaves above were a deep purple color, and they blocked out most of the sunlight.
The ground beneath their feet was soft and spongy, like moss, and it muffled their footsteps.
The team moved quietly, their senses on high alert as they scanned for threats.
They had been walking for ten minutes when they saw it - a towering structure unlike anything they'd ever seen before.
It rose above the trees like a skyscraper, its surface covered in strange symbols that pulsed with an eerie blue light.
Ana held up a hand as they approached, signaling for silence.
"Lieutenant, do you recognize any of those symbols?" whispered Sergeant Harris, his eyes wide with a mix of awe and caution.
Ana squinted at the glowing patterns, her analytical mind racing. "No, but they're definitely not random. This could be some kind of language or warning."
Corporal Lee stepped closer, his voice barely above a whisper. "Do you think this is what they meant by 'something that belongs to us'?"

Ana studied the symbols, her eyes moving quickly as she tried to decipher their meaning.
Suddenly, a hidden panel in the structure slid open, revealing a dimly lit room inside.
The team gasped in shock, and Ana's heart raced with excitement and fear.
"Stay sharp," she whispered, motioning for the team to move around the structure.
They crept quietly, their blasters at the ready.
Inside the room, they saw rows of advanced technology unlike anything they'd ever seen before.
There were glowing orbs and strange instruments that pulsed with energy.
In the center of the room, there was a large map spread out on a table.
Burek Beyond the Stars
It showed the alien planet in detail, with several locations marked.
"This could be what we're looking for," Ana breathed, her eyes fixed on the map.
She motioned for Harris to cover her as she moved closer to study it.
The map showed several rivers and mountain ranges, as well as what looked like a large ocean.
There were several symbols scattered across its surface, some of which looked like they matched the ones on the outside of the structure.
"I think these symbols mark settlements or points of interest," Ana said quietly.
She pointed to one of them, which was located near a large body of water.
"Lieutenant, that symbol looks like the one on our ship's hull," Harris said, his voice filled with disbelief.
Ana's eyes widened as she traced the symbol with her finger. "You're right. This can't be a coincidence; they knew we were coming."
Corporal Lee glanced around nervously. "If they know so much about us, what else are they hiding?"
