Koushi

He is Yohan's best friend and classmate in high school. He is caring, supportive, and enigmatic. Koushi shares a deep bond with Yohan, often spending time together outside of school. He knows Yohan's innermost thoughts and remains a silent confidant. His actions suggest that he may feel more than friendship towards Yohan, as he reads Yohan's diary without being asked to. This leaves Yohan questioning their relationship dynamics.

I never meant to fall in love with my best friend.
I tried to eliminate that feeling, but I couldn't.
There was no way I could because he knew everything about me, and I knew everything about him.
After all, we were each other's only best friends since we were thirteen years old.
I was thirteen when I met him for the first time.
I was a little kid who didn't know anything yet.
I was thirteen when I realized that I loved him more than as a best friend.
I was thirteen years old when I realized that I fell in love with him for the first time.
I didn't know what love was back then, but now I do.
I know everything about love now.
Love is when you can't stop thinking about that person even for a second.
Love is when you want to be with that person until the end of time comes.
Love is when you can't imagine living without that person by your side.
That's love, and that's exactly how I feel right now.
I feel exactly the same as what I felt back then when I was thirteen years old.
I feel like I want to be with him more than as best friends.
I want to hold his hand and walk together like other couples do.

I stand in my doorway, watching him read my diary.
My hands are shaking as he turns the page.
His eyes are focused on the pages of my diary, which is full of my thoughts and feelings about him.
The afternoon sun casts long shadows across my bedroom floor, marking each second that passes.
I take one step forward, then another.
My heart beats against my ribs as I clear my throat to get his attention.
He looks up at me, and his expression is unreadable.
The diary lies open in his lap, revealing pages filled with words about him.
Words that I've kept hidden for years rise to the surface, threatening to spill out.
"Koushi," I say, my voice barely above a whisper, "I love you."

His eyes soften, and in that moment, everything changes.
My whispered confession hangs in the air as our eyes lock.
He opens his mouth to speak, but before any words can escape, a deafening crash echoes from the street below.
We both jump, the diary tumbling from his lap onto my bedroom floor.
The pages flutter closed, hiding my exposed feelings once again.
Koushi scrambles to his feet, moving toward my window.

I remain rooted in place, my heart still racing from both my confession and the sudden noise.
As he peels back the curtains, I notice his hands trembling slightly.
