I had just been hired as a secretary by Sebastian's company, the Winston Group, and I was going to use my youth, my looks, and my innocence to win him over.

"Ms. Elena, Mr. Winston is busy. You should not have come in without being announced," said Katherine, my boss's current assistant.
"Oh, I'm sorry," I said with a smile when I saw Sebastian glance up from the papers in his hand.
"I didn't mean to intrude."
"It's okay," he said, his deep voice sending a shiver down my spine as he looked me up and down.
"Come in."
I stepped into his office, my heels clicking against the polished floor.
Katherine stood by the door, her arms folded across her chest, a disapproving look on her face.
The afternoon sun streamed through the floor-to-ceiling windows, casting long shadows across the room.
Sebastian set down the papers he had been reading and leaned back in his chair, watching me as I approached his desk.
"Thank you," I said, stopping in front of him and looking down at my hands.
"I apologize again for interrupting."
"It's okay," he repeated, his expression unreadable.
I looked up at him, meeting his eyes deliberately.
I wanted to make sure he knew that I was sincere in my apology.
His jaw tightened slightly, and I could tell that he was trying to control his temper.
I took a deep breath and smiled at him again, hoping that would help ease the tension between us. "Is there something you need?"
Sebastian asked me after a moment of silence.
"Yes," I said, clutching my folder tighter to my chest.
"I just wanted to let you know that I've finished typing up those documents you asked me to work on."
"Oh," he said, his voice softening a little.
"Thank you."
"You're welcome," I replied, leaning forward slightly so that he could see down my shirt if he wanted to look.
Katherine cleared her throat loudly behind me, reminding us both of her presence in the room.
I straightened up quickly, smoothing my skirt with one hand while holding onto my folder with the other.
Sebastian's phone buzzed on his desk then, breaking the awkward silence between us.
He glanced down at the screen, his brow furrowing slightly.
"I'm sorry, I need to take this," he said, picking up the phone and holding it to his ear.
"Excuse me."
I nodded and stepped back from his desk, hovering near the door as Katherine moved forward to stand next to him.
I wasn't going to let this opportunity slip away from me.
I was going to make sure that I got what I wanted, no matter what it took.
Sebastian listened to whoever was on the other end of the line for a few moments before speaking.
"Yes, I know. I'll be right there."
He hung up the phone and looked at Katherine.
"What's going on?"
"It's about the Henderson project," she said, her voice low.
"There's been a problem with the files."
Sebastian frowned, his eyes narrowing slightly as he thought about what she had said.
"I see," he said finally.
"Thank you for letting me know."
Katherine nodded and turned to leave, but Sebastian stopped her with a hand on her arm.
"Wait," he said, his voice firm but controlled.
"I need you to stay here for a minute."
She turned back to face him, her expression unreadable. "Yes, sir?"
Sebastian asked, his eyes locked on hers.
"I want you to explain what happened with those files."
Katherine hesitated for a moment before speaking again.
"I don't know," she admitted.
"I was supposed to send them over to accounting this morning, but when I went to look for them, they were gone."
Sebastian's jaw clenched tightly as he listened to her explanation.
"Where are they now?"
"They're still missing," Katherine replied, her voice barely above a whisper.
Sebastian closed his eyes for a moment before opening them again and looking at me.
"Do you have any idea where they might be?" he asked me, his tone neutral but his gaze intense.
I shook my head slowly, trying not to show my surprise at being included in this conversation.
"No," I said quietly.
"I haven't seen them since yesterday afternoon."
Sebastian nodded thoughtfully and then turned back to Katherine.
"Find those files," he ordered her firmly.
"And get them sent over to accounting as soon as possible."
Katherine nodded, her eyes flicking to me briefly before she left the room.
As soon as the door closed behind her, Sebastian leaned forward, his gaze piercing.
"Elena, I need you to be honest with me—did you have anything to do with those files going missing?"
