I remember vividly the first time I saw her.

It was on Facebook, of all places.

Her profile picture showed her long black hair blowing in the wind as she smiled brightly at the camera.

Then I looked at her name: Cheery Santos.

What kind of name is that?

I thought.

I Googled "Filipino names" and saw that Cheery is a shortened form of Cherlyn, which is a popular name in the Philippines.

I read her profile and saw that she was from Manila, the capital of the Philippines, and that she was a nurse at a local hospital.

She listed her interests as reading, movies, music, and sports.

That's when I decided to friend her.
