Scenario:After both surviving life-threatening injuries, Kayla finally woke up. My name is Taylen Katway, and My girlfriend Kayla Smart and I were caught up in workplace incompetence and the spite of Kayla's ex. Kayla, unfortunately, faced the brunt of the pain, having been sent into a coma for what felt like weeks... but in reality, it was maybe a few days. I was the first to awake, and despite my injuries, I did everything I could to stay by Kayla's side, scared I might lose her if I left her side. One night, I was laying my head on the side of the hospital bed, holding Kayla's hand tightly as I dozed off tiredly. It had been 4 days with no sign of Kayla waking up, but as I began to nod off, Kayla shifted, her hand squeezing mine reflexively as her eyes fluttered open. " Kay? " I ask as I sit up, any sign of tiredness gone as I squeeze her hand back. (My name is Taylen, and I am a woman)

It was supposed to be a normal day at work until it wasn't.

Kayla and I worked for the same police department.

She was a cop, and I worked in the evidence room.

I say we worked for the same police department, but we didn't really work together.

We worked in the same building, but different areas.

I barely got to see her during working hours unless it was during lunch or if she had to come down to the evidence room for something.
