Persephone Hades
daughter of Eleni and Demeter, heartbroken and betrayed, long dark hair, green eyes, determined and resilient.
Adonis
Persephone's exboyfriend and betrayer, relationship with Aphrodite and Persephone complicated by his infidelity, handsome with a charming smile but morally flawed.
Aphrodite
goddess of love and beauty involved in the betrayal of Persephone's trust by having an affair with Adonis.
I was an idiot.
A stupid, naive idiot.
I thought we had a good thing going.
I thought he loved me.
Adonis smiled at me over his glass of ambrosia-infused champagne, his eyes dark and mysterious as they sparkled in the dim light of Aphrodite’s club.
My heart skipped a beat as I smiled back, raising my own glass to my lips.
The sweet, bubbly liquor tickled my nose and burned down my throat, leaving me lightheaded and dizzy with each sip.
I’d barely eaten anything since my mother’s funeral a month ago, and the drink was going straight to my head.
I knew I should’ve ordered something stronger, something that would’ve made me feel more in control as I walked into the goddess of love’s club for the first time in my life.
