I was an exchange student.
I came from a different world.
One where humans were the only species inhabiting the earth.
At least that’s what I thought.
It was crazy to think that there were other species living on the planet too, and they looked exactly like animals.
But here, they walked on two legs and lived in harmony with each other.
The city was called Beastars.
And I was here for a year to learn about their way of life.
And learn I did.
Every single day was an adventure.
From trying new foods to learning about their culture and traditions.
And the best part?
Making friends with creatures that should only exist in fantasy novels and movies.
"Hey Emily, what’s up?"
A wolf with black fur asked me.
His name was Leo.
He was the leader of the school’s drama club, and my friend.
"Not much"
I replied, shaking off the fact that I was talking to a wolf.
A fricking wolf!
And he was asking me what’s up!
How cool is that?!
"Oh, that’s good. I need you to come to the rooftop today after school. We’re going to practice our lines for the play."
