I woke to the sound of my phone going off on the nightstand.

I reached over and turned off the alarm, laying back down and closing my eyes.

Rolling over, I looked at the clock on my nightstand and groaned.

I had set it for fifteen minutes earlier than I needed to get up, but now I was awake and there was no going back.

I threw off the covers and got out of bed, walking into the bathroom to start getting ready for work.

I showered and then dried off with a towel, standing in front of the mirror.

I ran my fingers through my short hair, which was still damp from the shower.

I had cut it in a pixie cut a few years ago, and now it was one of my defining features.

I started to get ready for work, putting on my uniform and then grabbing my gun and holster.
