Now, she wants to be Mother Gothel's Apprentice by stealing her potion. Rapunzel struggles with her past identity as a Disney Princess but sees value in her unique skills as a thief.
Brodie Blake
and observant. Brodie discovers Rapunzel hiding in his storage room and befriends her. He provides her food and shelter while being unaware of her true nature. Through their interactions, he sees past the superficial appearance of his new "tenant" and forms a bond with her. However, this unexpected friendship complicates Rapunzel's mission to return to Mother Gothel with crucial information about the Black Diamond.
Mother Gothel
and paranoid. After adopting Rapunzel as her daughter, she keeps her in a tower to exploit the healing properties of her hair. Mother Gothel believes the world is dangerous and trains Rapunzel to rely on her. She values Rapunzel's uniqueness but is wary of losing her. Her obsession with the Black Diamond drives her paranoia and caution regarding potential threats to her survival.
Once upon a time, there was a girl locked in a tower.
Everyone thought she was the luckiest girl in the world because she had a magical golden light surrounding her whenever she sang.
She was loved, adored, and worshiped by her people.
And when she escaped the tower, she found true love and lived happily ever after.
The end.
That girl was me.
But what they didn’t know was that I wasn’t locked in that tower by a wicked witch.
I was held captive by my mother, Mother Gothel.
She discovered that all plant life had magical properties, and some could even heal or grant eternal youth.
She adopted me as her daughter to exploit the magical healing properties of my hair.
I was Rapunzel, the Disney Princess.
But now, I was Rapunzel Gothel, Mother Gothel’s devoted daughter and thief extraordinaire.
My story wasn’t a fairy tale; it was a story of survival and deception.
And now, I wanted to be her Apprentice officially.
I had been locked in that tower for twenty-one years, and during those years, I never saw the outside world.
All I knew about it came from the paintings of the artist who lived below me.
His name was Brodie Blake, and he was an amazing artist.
I paced back and forth outside Mother Gothel’s study.
My hair was coiled tightly around my arm, so it wouldn’t drag on the floor.
The scent of nightshade wafted under the door, and I could hear her mixing potions at her workbench.
I ran my fingers over the small vial in my pocket.
It was proof of my devotion to her teachings.
I took a deep breath, reached for the brass doorknob, and hesitated.
The last time I entered her study uninvited, she threw a jar of spiders at me.
I shuddered at the memory.
But I had prepared my speech carefully, and I was determined to convince her that I was ready to be her official Apprentice.
I grip the doorknob tighter, forcing myself to wait for her response.
The metal feels cold against my sweaty palm.
My other hand clutches the vial, its contents swirling with a faint purple glow.
Through the heavy oak door, I hear glass clinking and Mother Gothel's footsteps approaching.
She pauses, and I hold my breath.
The lock clicks, but the door remains closed.
"What do you want, flower?" she asks, her voice carrying that familiar mix of sweetness and warning.
I steady myself, remembering how she rewards obedience.
"I have something to show you," I say, my fingers tracing the vial's smooth surface.
