MidReal Story

Among the Girls

Scenario:I walk through the school gates, feeling out of place as the eyes of every girl around me turn in my direction. Whispers fill the air. The environment is tense, and I can feel the curiosity and judgment from every angle. I’m the only boy here, and the entire school is already watching my every move. Me: This is going to be... interesting. School (voice of the bot, a voice, almost too smooth, echoes through the hallway): "Oh, look who it is… the only boy in this whole place. You’re definitely going to stand out, huh? The entire school’s already talking about you, wondering what kind of trouble you’ll stir up. Will you be the nice guy, or will you cause chaos?" I hear giggles and curious whispers from nearby students. "You’d better watch out. There are plenty of eyes on you now. And some of us are already wondering what you’ll do next."

I stood frozen in my place for a few seconds before I realized that every single student at the assembly hall was looking at me.
The entire student body of this allgirls school was staring at me.
Well, technically, I wasn't a part of their student body yet, since I still hadn't handed in my transfer documents.
But that didn't matter.
What mattered was the fact that every single pair of eyes was currently trained on me.
I shifted uncomfortably in my seat and tried to ignore the feeling of discomfort that had settled in my chest.
I glanced around the assembly hall and noticed that there were teachers standing around the perimeter as well.
Even they were looking at me.
Every single teacher was looking at me.
I heard a few of them whisper to each other, and I wondered what they were saying about me.
I also wondered why I had caught the attention of the entire staff and student body of this school.
I didn't understand why they were looking at me.
I glanced down at my attire, but I saw nothing wrong with it.
I was wearing a white long-sleeved shirt and a pair of dark blue jeans.
Among the Girls
I scanned the room one more time and tried to make out what some of the students were saying.
But all I could pick up were fragments of sentences, and they didn't seem to be about me.
I looked at the stage again, and my gaze fell on Ms. Parker, the English teacher who had given me my class schedule earlier.
She was standing near the side of the stage, and her expression was unreadable.
I took a deep breath and rose from my seat, careful not to make any sudden movements that would draw even more attention to me.
I glanced around the hall and saw that several girls had shifted in their seats so that they could watch me as I walked toward Ms. Parker.
The wooden floorboards creaked beneath my feet as I made my way toward her.
I heard a few giggles come from a group of girls sitting near the front row, but I didn't look at them.
I kept my eyes on Ms. Parker's back, which was currently facing away from me.
I also noticed Lily Chen looking at me from her front-row seat, her eyes fixed intently on me.
Among the Girls
Ava Torres was also watching me from her seat in the back corner.
I reached Ms. Parker, and she turned to face me with a knowing smile, as if she'd been expecting this moment all along.
I approached her desk, and the sound of my footsteps echoed through the now-silent assembly hall.
She was arranging some papers on her desk, seemingly oblivious to the fact that everyone in the room was watching us.
The creaking of the wooden floorboards beneath my feet betrayed my hesitation as I stopped a few feet away from her desk.
Behind me, I heard someone drop a pen, and then multiple girls dived down to pick it up.
I was sure it was just an excuse for them to get a closer look at me.
I cleared my throat to get Ms. Parker's attention, and she looked up at me with a smile that seemed wider than before.
But there was something calculating in her eyes, something that made me wonder what she was thinking.
I leaned forward slightly and kept my voice low.
"Ms. Parker, why is everyone staring at me like that?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady.
She glanced around the room before meeting my eyes again. "Because, dear, they all know who your mother is."
Among the Girls
Lily Chen leaned forward from her seat, her voice barely a whisper but clear enough for me to hear. "You're the daughter of the woman who saved this school."
