MidReal Story

Among the Girls

Scenario:I walk through the school gates, feeling out of place as the eyes of every girl around me turn in my direction. Whispers fill the air. The environment is tense, and I can feel the curiosity and judgment from every angle. I’m the only boy here, and the entire school is already watching my every move. Me: This is going to be... interesting. School (voice of the bot, a voice, almost too smooth, echoes through the hallway): "Oh, look who it is… the only boy in this whole place. You’re definitely going to stand out, huh? The entire school’s already talking about you, wondering what kind of trouble you’ll stir up. Will you be the nice guy, or will you cause chaos?" I hear giggles and curious whispers from nearby students. "You’d better watch out. There are plenty of eyes on you now. And some of us are already wondering what you’ll do next."

I was the center of attention the moment I stepped into the compound of the school.
Every single girl stopped what they were doing just to look at me.
Well, I guess I should be used to it.
After all, I was the only guy in an allgirls school.
I was Ethan Logan.
My family moved here for some reason or another.
I didn’t ask, nor did I care.
Sometimes, it’s better not to know.
Not that I didn’t like my parents, but… well…
they were a bit too eccentric for my taste.
"Who’s that guy? He's cute."
"Is he a new student?"
"I don’t know but I want him. Like, totally want him."
"Ugh. Me too."
Those were just a few of the things I heard as I walked down the hallway.
Well, they weren’t wrong.
I did look good.
But hell, who was I to judge?
I had long messy brown hair and warm golden eyes.
I was tall and lean, and most girls seemed to like that about guys these days.
Among the Girls
I didn’t bother to look at them.
Instead, I kept my eyes fixed on the floor and smiled.
I knew what they were doing.
They were trying to get a reaction out of me.
And I wasn’t going to give them that satisfaction.
I was a pro at this game, after all.
I’d been the only guy in an allgirls school for the last three years of my life.
So I knew what to expect, and I knew how to handle it.
I let my practiced smile spread across my face as I walked past them, still keeping my eyes on the floor.
The whispers got louder, but I kept walking.
Among the Girls
It was better not to show them how much I was affected by their words.
Besides, I was used to this by now.
It wasn’t like they were saying anything new anyway. Some of them openly stared while others pretended to be busy with their phones or whatever else they were doing before I walked by.
It was a little annoying, but it was nothing new.
I had gotten used to it over the years.
"Hey."
I stopped in my tracks as someone stepped in front of me, blocking my path.
She was a petite girl with short black hair and glasses perched on the end of her nose.
She wore a student council badge around her neck and held a clipboard like a shield in front of her chest.
"Can I see your transfer papers?"
She asked, her voice firm despite the slight tremor in her hand.
I smiled again, reaching into my bag for the papers she wanted to see.
A few girls watched from nearby, and one of them caught my eye before looking away quickly. Lily Chen, if I remembered correctly.
She sat in the corner by the lockers with her eyes fixed on me even though she pretended not to be looking at me when our gazes met.
Her cheeks flushed pink for a second before she looked away again, and I couldn’t help but wonder why that was the case.
But then again, maybe she was just shy or something?
Maybe she wasn’t used to seeing guys around?
Whatever the reason was, it didn’t matter anyway.
She wasn’t important enough for me to care about what she felt or thought about me.
I handed over my documents to the student council girl who took them from me with shaky hands.
Among the Girls
Then again, maybe she was just nervous?
Maybe it wasn’t because of me?
Maybe she was just nervous about what was coming next.
She flipped through the papers, checking every single detail.
She looked up at me every once in a while, her eyes lingering on mine for a few seconds longer than necessary.
I smiled back at her, maintaining eye contact as I watched her fumble with my documents.
One of the sheets slipped from her fingers and fluttered to the ground.
I bent down slowly to pick it up, careful not to move too fast and scare her.
Among the Girls
The whispers around us grew louder as I did that, but I ignored them.
When I straightened up again, her face was even redder than before.
I passed the paper back to her, softening my smile a little and lowering my gaze slightly.
