MidReal Story

Among the Girls

Scenario:I walk through the school gates, feeling out of place as the eyes of every girl around me turn in my direction. Whispers fill the air. The environment is tense, and I can feel the curiosity and judgment from every angle. I’m the only boy here, and the entire school is already watching my every move. Me: This is going to be... interesting. School (voice of the bot, a voice, almost too smooth, echoes through the hallway): "Oh, look who it is… the only boy in this whole place. You’re definitely going to stand out, huh? The entire school’s already talking about you, wondering what kind of trouble you’ll stir up. Will you be the nice guy, or will you cause chaos?" I hear giggles and curious whispers from nearby students. "You’d better watch out. There are plenty of eyes on you now. And some of us are already wondering what you’ll do next."

I was the only boy in an allgirls school.
That sucks, right?
Well, that's my life.
I'm Ethan Logan.
I had to transfer because of family reasons.
But I'm not picky, so I got used to it easily.
When I entered the school, everyone stared at me.
Well, all girls stared at me.
That's weird, right?
I have a lot of attention.
I guess all of them are curious about the only boy in their school.
I have brown hair which is messy and really tall for a sixteen-year-old boy.
I walked through the hallway and stared at my schedule.
I have to go in room 301.
When I looked up, I saw her.
She had black hair in a ponytail and was really beautiful.
She seemed to be the leader of the group.
Later on, I found on the internet that she was Lily Chen, a senior. She was beautiful and smart, I guess.
She had a lot of fans, but she didn't like any of them.
She was ambitious and wanted to study in a good university abroad.
Then I walked away and went in my classroom.
Everyone still stared at me.
They were whispering on the phone or with their friends.
Among the Girls
I stood at the front of the classroom.
Twenty-five pairs of eyes were staring at me.
Ms. Parker, the English teacher, gestured for me to begin.
I cleared my throat and said, "Hello, I'm Ethan Logan. I just transferred from St. Michael's Academy."
Some girls in the front row leaned forward.
Among the Girls
Some girls behind them whispered behind their hands.
"I'm not bad at sports, but I'm terrible at studying," I said with a laugh.
The ice was cracking.
After my introduction, I looked around the room.
Most girls had relaxed a little.
Some still eyed me suspiciously, but a few smiled back when I caught their gaze.
Ms. Parker gestured for me to take a seat.
She pointed to the desk near the window, third row from the front.
I walked down the aisle and my backpack knocked over a pencil case.
Erasers spilled all over the floor.
I crouched down to pick them up and said, "Sorry."
The girl who owned the pencil case smiled at me.
Just then, the classroom door slid open with a click of heels against tile.
Among the Girls
Everyone in the room turned to look at her.
I froze, my hand reaching for a scattered eraser.
"Class, we have another new student joining us today."
Ms. Parker's voice cut through the chatter.
My gaze snapped to the doorway.
The same girl I had seen earlier in the hallway walked into the classroom.
Her black ponytail swayed with each step.
She walked down the aisle between the desks with practiced grace, her uniform immaculate and her smile confident.
Ms. Parker gestured to the empty desk beside mine.
My stomach tightened.
Lily slid into her seat and turned to me with a measured look.
Among the Girls
"Looks like we're in this together," she said, her voice steady and clear.
I stared at my desk, trying to process the offer.
Twenty-five pairs of eyes were still staring at us.
Whispers buzzed around the room.
The classroom was alive with excitement.
I heard snippets of conversation about the "new duo."
My fingers tapped nervously on my textbook.
Before I could respond, a girl with short red hair two rows ahead turned around.
She shot Lily a challenging look and said, "You're Ethan Logan, right?"
I nodded.
"I'm Ava Torres. And I think you might want to explore other lunch options before committing to anyone."
Among the Girls
Ava's gaze flicked between Lily and me, her voice laced with a hint of warning.
Lily's smile tightened slightly, but she maintained her composure.
Lily leaned forward, her eyes locked on Ava.
"Thanks for the advice, Ava, but I think Ethan can make his own choices," she replied calmly.
I glanced at Lily, surprised by her assertiveness, and said, "I appreciate the heads-up, but I'm open to meeting everyone."
Ms. Parker cleared her throat.
"Alright, class, let's get started on today's lesson."
The lesson began, and I tried to focus on the whiteboard, but Lily's presence next to me was distracting.
She leaned forward to take notes, and her arm occasionally touched mine on the shared desk space.
I shifted uncomfortably in my seat, hyper-aware of every movement.
When Lily asked to borrow an eraser, her fingers brushed against my hand during the exchange.
For a brief moment, I froze.
Ava watched us from two rows ahead, her expression unreadable.
As the lesson continued, Ava leaned back in her chair and whispered to the girl next to her, "I give it a week before they realize what they're getting into."
Lily caught Ava's words and turned slightly, her voice barely above a whisper, "What exactly do you mean by that?"
Among the Girls
Ava smirked, her eyes meeting Lily's with a knowing glint, "You'll see soon enough."
I glanced around the room, feeling suffocated by the tense silence.
Without thinking, I reached over and placed my hand on Lily's arm, trying to stop her from responding further to Ava's cryptic warning.
The touch sent a jolt of electricity through both of us, and Lily's eyes widened slightly.
"Just ignore her," I whispered, keeping my voice low enough that only she could hear.
Several girls nearby turned in their seats, watching our exchange intently.
Among the Girls
I heard a sharp intake of breath from someone behind us, and Lily's shoulders relaxed.
She kept her gaze forward, but I noticed a faint flush rising in her cheeks.
Lily nodded subtly, her voice barely audible, "Thanks, Ethan. I just don't like being in the dark."
I leaned back, trying to appear nonchalant as I replied, "We'll figure it out together, whatever it is."
The lesson continued, and the tension in the room dissipated slightly.
During the lunch break, Lily pulled out her textbook to review the lesson.
As she lifted the book, her hands trembled slightly, revealing a folded piece of paper underneath.
She opened it slowly, her eyes scanning each line as she read.
I leaned forward to get a better look, but she quickly pulled the note away, hiding it from my view.
Among the Girls
I noticed that it was a list of names from our class, with what appeared to be planned actions next to each one.
Lily's face went pale as she scanned the document.
She crumpled the paper in her fist and glanced anxiously at Ava, who was watching us from across the room with a knowing smile.
"What's wrong?"
Lily's hands continued to tremble as she clutched the crumpled note.
She glanced between me and Ava, her eyes darting back and forth.
The lunch break crowd grew louder around us, but I barely noticed.
Suddenly, Lily grabbed my wrist tightly.
"We need to talk privately," she whispered urgently, pulling me up from my seat.
Among the Girls
We hurried past groups of staring students, our footsteps echoing in the hallway.
Lily led the way, guiding us toward the old supply closet near the science lab.
She checked both directions before opening the door, yanking me inside with her.
The door clicked shut behind us, and in the dim light, Lily's voice was steady but urgent: "Ethan, there's something bigger going on here than we realized."
The air in the cramped supply closet was thick with dust, and faint rays of light filtered through a small window.
Dust particles danced in the dim light, casting an eerie glow over the shelves of forgotten supplies.
Lily's hands still trembled as she smoothed out the crumpled note.
I leaned closer to read over her shoulder, my heart pounding in my chest.
The list of names was accompanied by cryptic messages about "secret meetings" and "forbidden relationships."
I felt Lily's warm breath against my neck as she leaned in to read alongside me.
The closeness sent shivers down my spine.
She turned to explain, but her words trailed off as our faces ended up inches apart.
The air grew thick with tension, and I could feel her pulse racing against mine.
Her eyes widened when I shifted closer, and she gripped the note tightly, creating a soft crinkling sound.
Among the Girls
"Ethan," she whispered, her voice barely above a breath, "this isn't just some prank or rumor."
I nodded, trying to process the weight of her words.
"These meetings... they're planning something dangerous," she continued, her eyes searching mine for understanding.
The dim light filtering through the small window cast an eerie glow on Lily's worried expression.
Her hands still gripped the note, but her shoulders had softened slightly.
The cramped space of the supply closet forced us closer, and I noticed a loose strand of black hair falling across her face, disrupting her usually perfect appearance.
She was different here, away from the prying eyes of the classroom.
Vulnerable.
Among the Girls
The hair bothered her - she kept trying to blow it away as she explained more about the contents of the note.
My hand lifted slowly, almost of its own accord.
Time seemed to pause as I considered what I was about to do.
