MidReal Story

Among the Girls

Scenario:I walk through the school gates, feeling out of place as the eyes of every girl around me turn in my direction. Whispers fill the air. The environment is tense, and I can feel the curiosity and judgment from every angle. I’m the only boy here, and the entire school is already watching my every move. Me: This is going to be... interesting. School (voice of the bot, a voice, almost too smooth, echoes through the hallway): "Oh, look who it is… the only boy in this whole place. You’re definitely going to stand out, huh? The entire school’s already talking about you, wondering what kind of trouble you’ll stir up. Will you be the nice guy, or will you cause chaos?" I hear giggles and curious whispers from nearby students. "You’d better watch out. There are plenty of eyes on you now. And some of us are already wondering what you’ll do next."

I was walking down the hallway when I saw her.
She was sitting on the floor with her back against a locker, hair in a ponytail, and surrounded by people.
I mean, every single person in that school had their eyes on her.
She was the center of attention.
She had long black hair and was wearing a red blazer.
When she saw me, her eyes widened, and she stood up.
She walked over to me, and I couldn't help but stare at her.
She was beautiful.
"Hi," she said, smiling at me.
"My name is Lily Chen. And you are?"
"Ethan Logan," I replied, shaking her hand.
"Nice to meet you, Ethan," she said, pulling her hand back and blushing.
"So, are you the new student here?" she asked.
"Yes," I nodded.
"I transferred here because of family reasons."
"Oh," she said, nodding.
"Well, welcome to our school. I hope you will like it here."
"Thanks," I smiled.
"I am sure I will."
We chatted for a while, and then she asked me if I wanted to join her and her friends for lunch.
I agreed, and we walked to the cafeteria together.
As we walked, I couldn't help but notice all the girls staring at me.
They were whispering to each other and pointing at me.
It was kind of weird.
I was used to being around girls, but this was different.
They were all staring at me like I was some kind of celebrity or something.
We walked into the cafeteria and it was a lot bigger than I had expected.
There were tables and chairs scattered all over the room, and a big buffet table in the middle with all kinds of food.
Lily led me through the crowd and we stopped at a table in the corner.
There were already three girls sitting there, and they all stopped talking when they saw us approach.
Lily slid onto the bench next to them and patted the empty space beside her.
"Hey," she said to them, smiling.
They all smiled back at her and then looked at me.
I sat down and started looking around the room.
The noise of all the people talking was kind of overwhelming, but Lily's voice seemed to cut through it all.
It was like everything else faded away when she spoke. The girl with short red hair from earlier caught my eye again as she sat down at a nearby table with her friends.
They were all laughing and smiling, but then they looked over at Lily and me sitting together, and their faces fell.
They didn't look too happy about it, especially the girl with short red hair.
She glared at me for a minute before looking back to her friends.
I turned my attention back to Lily's group as they started talking again about school stuff and things going on around town.
It was nice to sit and talk with people who seemed to care about what I thought for once.
The looks from everyone else in the cafeteria didn't bother me too much, but I did wonder why everyone was so curious about me being here.
I turned to Lily with a questioning look on my face and she leaned closer to me.
"What?"I asked her quietly so no one else could hear us.
"Why is everyone staring at us?"
Her eyes followed mine around the room for a second before she shrugged her shoulders. "It's just because you're new here. Everyone wants to know what you're like."
"Everyone wants to know if I'm going to be trouble."
She nodded slowly, watching my face as she replied, "Yeah. But you seem like a pretty cool guy."
I smiled at her and turned back to the table.
We talked for a while longer before the bell rang and we all had to go back to class.
I was glad that I had someone to talk to, but I couldn't help but wonder what everyone else was thinking about me.
The rest of the day went by quickly, and soon it was time for lunch break again.
I walked out into the courtyard with Lily, and we sat down in a quiet corner by ourselves.
She started telling me about some cultural festival that was happening at school in a few weeks, but I wasn't really paying attention.
I was watching the way the sunlight caught her hair as she talked.
It made it shine like gold.
My heart started beating faster as I thought about what I wanted to do next.
I gathered my courage and cleared my throat loudly.
She stopped talking and looked over at me, confused.
"Listen, Lily," I started, wiping my sweaty palms on my pants.
But before I could say anything else, Ava walked past our table and knocked my water bottle over with her bag. It spilled all over Lily's notebook and she jumped up with a startled cry.
