MidReal Story

Among the Girls

Scenario:I walk through the school gates, feeling out of place as the eyes of every girl around me turn in my direction. Whispers fill the air. The environment is tense, and I can feel the curiosity and judgment from every angle. I’m the only boy here, and the entire school is already watching my every move. Me: This is going to be... interesting. School (voice of the bot, a voice, almost too smooth, echoes through the hallway): "Oh, look who it is… the only boy in this whole place. You’re definitely going to stand out, huh? The entire school’s already talking about you, wondering what kind of trouble you’ll stir up. Will you be the nice guy, or will you cause chaos?" I hear giggles and curious whispers from nearby students. "You’d better watch out. There are plenty of eyes on you now. And some of us are already wondering what you’ll do next."

"Uh… hi?"
I stood frozen in the doorway, not knowing what to say to the hundreds of girls staring back at me.
I was at a loss for words; my transfer to this school was a big deal, apparently.
I guess it would be, considering this school had always been allgirls and I was their first male student.
I looked around the room, which was decorated with pink and white balloons, and my table had a three-tiered cake on it.
This wasn’t just a welcome party; this was a full-on bash.
I didn’t know what to say, so I just smiled and waved politely.
"This is insane," I heard a voice behind me say.
I turned around to see a girl with long black hair in a ponytail and a smirk on her face.
She looked familiar, but I couldn’t remember where I had seen her before.
"Who are you?"

"I’m Lily Chen," she said, her heels clicking on the floor as she walked toward me.
The other girls parted like water around her, and I could tell by the way they looked at her that she was important.
She extended a manicured hand to me.
"I’m the head of the student council."
"Nice to meet you," I said, shaking her hand.
She looked over at the cake on my table and ran a finger through the frosting.
Then she put her finger in her mouth and sucked off the frosting with a slow, deliberate motion.
The other girls watched her, some of them looking impressed and others looking uncomfortable.
She picked up a piece of cake and held it out to me.
"Ethan, would you like some?"
I looked around the room and saw a girl in the corner with red hair shaking her head at me.

I took the plate from Lily, and our fingers brushed against each other briefly.
The cake slice was pristine white with a delicate pink flower on top.
The room fell silent as I raised the fork to my mouth.
Every girl was watching me, and I could feel their eyes on me.
From the corner, the red-haired girl shook her head at me again, her eyes wide with concern.
Lily stood next to me, her hand resting possessively on my shoulder.
The cake smelled sweet and delicious, and I brought the fork to my mouth.
"Don't eat it," the red-haired girl called out, her voice urgent and cutting through the silence.
Lily's grip on my shoulder tightened slightly, her smile unwavering.
"Why not, Emily?" she asked, her tone sweet but with an edge that suggested this was more than just a simple welcome.
