MidReal Story

Among the Girls

Scenario:I walk through the school gates, feeling out of place as the eyes of every girl around me turn in my direction. Whispers fill the air. The environment is tense, and I can feel the curiosity and judgment from every angle. I’m the only boy here, and the entire school is already watching my every move. Me: This is going to be... interesting. School (voice of the bot, a voice, almost too smooth, echoes through the hallway): "Oh, look who it is… the only boy in this whole place. You’re definitely going to stand out, huh? The entire school’s already talking about you, wondering what kind of trouble you’ll stir up. Will you be the nice guy, or will you cause chaos?" I hear giggles and curious whispers from nearby students. "You’d better watch out. There are plenty of eyes on you now. And some of us are already wondering what you’ll do next."

I was sitting in my first period class when I felt everyone’s eyes on me.
It was a bit uncomfortable, but I could understand why.
After all, I was the only guy in an allgirls school.
I looked around, trying to figure out if anyone was staring at me with hatred or malice, but most girls were looking at me with interest or curiosity.
Some of them even looked at me with adoration, as if I was a celebrity who just transferred to their school.
I guess I could get used to it.
I had already gotten pretty good at ignoring the eyes of the female students in my old school.
Although, I had to admit that it was a bit harder to ignore the eyes of hundreds of girls staring at me.
After all, there were only twenty girls in my old school, and most of them were in the lower grades.
Maybe I should just talk less about my old school.
Among the Girls
I looked back down at my desk as I heard the teacher calling me out.
I turned to look at her and smiled, hoping that the whispers around me would fade away.
And they did.
A few girls were still looking at me with interest, but most of them had stopped staring, and a few even returned my smile.
I wondered if I was going to be able to make it through this school year without any problems.
I noticed a girl sitting in the front row looking at me with a mixture of disdain and curiosity.
She looked like she wanted to make friends, but she wasn’t sure if she was ready to talk to someone like me yet.
But then again, I couldn’t tell if she just wanted to get to know me or if she actually wanted to be friends. The bell rang, and everyone started getting up and grabbing their things.
As I stood up, a girl walked over to me with a confident stride that made her ponytail swish back and forth with each step.
She looked like she was used to being in charge, probably because she was one of the popular girls here at the school.
"Hey, Ethan," she said, her voice carrying the authority of someone who knows they’re in charge.
"Want to join us for lunch?"
Among the Girls
It sounded more like a challenge than an invitation.
I wondered what kind of trouble joining her for lunch would stir up, but I still nodded my head yes as I grabbed my things off the desk and followed her out of the classroom.
The girl from earlier looked up at us as we walked by her desk but didn’t say anything, just raised an eyebrow.
Among the Girls
As we walked through the hallways, I noticed everyone looking at us.
They were probably wondering what I was doing with the school’s most popular girl or if I was going to cause trouble for her and her friends.
I also noticed that the girl wasn’t looking at me while we walked, but everyone else was.
The whispers started as we passed them, and they only grew louder as we continued through the hallway.
I guess I was going to have to get used to it.
The girl led me to the cafeteria, where there were hundreds of students eating lunch and talking in groups.
It looked like a sea of tables filled with girls in different styles of clothing, some dressed in skirts and dresses and others in jeans and a t-shirt.
I was surprised by how many of them were wearing jeans even though it was an allgirls school. The girl led me to a table in the center of the room, where there were already five other girls waiting for us.
They eyed me as we walked over, their faces showing different emotions ranging from curiosity to skepticism.
The girl from earlier sat down in an empty seat at the end of the table, while I sat down next to her.
She looked up at me as I sat down, a smile playing on her lips.
It looked like she was ready to talk to me finally.
Among the Girls
But before she could say anything, one of the girls at our table spoke up.
"Who’s this?"
She had a look of disdain on her face, probably because she didn’t know who I was or why the popular girl was talking to me.
The popular girl looked up at her from where she had been grabbing something out of her lunchbox and smiled sweetly at her. "His name is Ethan," she said, her voice commanding attention from everyone around the table.
"He’s in my first period class. We’re going to eat lunch together."
The girls around us started talking among themselves again after that, not really paying any more attention to me.
It looked like they were waiting for someone else to arrive before they started eating.
A few minutes later, a girl walked over from another table and sat down next to the popular girl.
She looked like she didn’t want to be there but still wanted some attention from the popular clique.
