I don’t know who I am.
I don’t know where I came from.
I don’t know why I’m here.
But I do know one thing: I’m not human.
The man in the alleyway is going to kill me, and he’s not human either.
He’s a monster, with claws and fangs and glowing red eyes.
And he’s not the only one.
There are more of them coming, dozens of them, maybe hundreds.
Chapter 1
I’m surrounded by monsters.
And then I realize something else: there are more of us too.
The man in the alleyway is with a group of people who are trying to protect me from the monsters.
They’re something else, something powerful and dangerous and alien.
They have powers that make them almost as strong as the monsters themselves.
And so do I.
I don’t know how I know this, but I do.
I can feel it in my bones, in my muscles, in my blood.
Powers that are beyond anything a normal human could ever possess.
The monsters hiss and growl at me, their red eyes glowing brighter as they prepare to attack.
Their bodies are covered with dark scales and their breath smells like death itself.
They’re not human, and they know it.
They hate themselves for what they are, and they hate me too, because I’m different from them, because I’m stronger than they are.
But I don’t feel any hatred for them in return.
All I feel is disgust.
I can smell their stench on the air, taste it on my tongue, and it makes me want to vomit.
It’s all I can do to keep myself from retching as they draw closer, their claws extended and their fangs bared.
I don’t think about what I’m going to do next; I just do it.
Chapter 2
The fight is over, and I'm left standing alone amidst the wreckage of a city block.
The monsters are all dead, and the people who were here have run away or been taken to safety by whoever was fighting on my side.
I look at my hands, still covered in blood, and wonder how I could have done this.
I've never killed anyone before, but these things weren't human.
They were monsters, and they would have killed me if I hadn't fought back.
But how did I know how to fight?
How did I know that I could take them down with just my bare hands?
And why do I feel like there's something more to this than just a lucky break?
A shadow falls across the street in front of me, and I look up to see a figure standing on a rooftop nearby.
He's tall and imposing, dressed all in black with a cape that flutters in the wind behind him.
He's watching me, and for a moment, I wonder if he's going to attack me.
But then he turns and walks away, disappearing into the night without a word.
I'm not sure what just happened, but something tells me that my life is about to get even more complicated than it already is.
Bruce Wayne has been patrolling the streets of Gotham City for years, ever since he first put on the cape and cowl and became Batman.
He's seen a lot of strange things in his time as a vigilante, but nothing quite like this.
Monsters in the streets of Gotham City, attacking innocent civilians and wreaking havoc wherever they go.
It's not something he ever expected to see, but it's something he can't ignore.
He tracked them here, to this abandoned warehouse on the edge of town, only to find that someone else had already taken care of them.
Someone with skills and abilities far beyond anything Bruce has ever seen before.
Someone who is not quite human, but not quite monster either.
Bruce watches from the rooftop as the man looks down at his hands, still covered in blood from the fight.
