I was a man of science.
While others believed in magic, I knew there was always a reasonable explanation for everything.
I didn’t waste my time on fairy tales.
That’s why I always refused to believe in the Aetherians.
Until I saw one with my own eyes.
He was beautiful.
With piercing blue eyes and raven-black hair, he looked like a god from the legends I always dismissed as myth.
But it wasn’t just his looks that captured my attention.
It was his powers.
He could move things with his mind!
Telekinesis was something I always read about in science fiction novels, but never thought I’d see it in real life.
The Aetherian was imprisoned, but I knew if I could somehow get him on my side, I could use his powers to become the greatest scientist the world had ever known.
I would change the world!
And rule it!
I stared into his piercing blue eyes and smiled to myself.
This was going to be easy.
"Hello," I said, walking up to the cell.
"I am Dr. Simon Patrick Irwin."
I didn’t expect an answer, but got one anyway.
"What do you want?" the Aetherian asked in a deep voice that sent shivers down my spine.
I smiled at him.
