I gasped, dropping my flashlight as the creature sneezed again.
This time, when he covered his face, he was careful not to touch me with his other hand.
But then something else came out of his nose.
It wasn’t blood this time.
It was… confetti?
He sneezed again, and more confetti came.
Not just confetti either, but streamers.
He was injuring himself on the stuff as it came out of his nose.
I couldn’t help it.
I started laughing.
I couldn’t laugh at much else about the situation, but that?
That was funny.
"How are you doing that?"
I asked.
The creature looked up at me.
He looked shocked that I was laughing.
"I am not doing it on purpose," he said.
"I think it is a part of my ship."
He sneezed again.
More confetti and streamers came out his nose.
My laughter grew so intense that I had to hold my sides.
It was just so ridiculous!
He looked at me like he thought I had lost my mind, but then something happened.
He started to smile.
As soon as he did, I stopped laughing.
Not because anything had changed with the confetti coming out his nose.
But because that smile made me feel strange inside.
