I touched an Alien. A flood of emotions shot through my body as I cried silent tears onto the forest floor.
I was never supposed to be here.
This was supposed to be a routine mission: go in, collect the data, come out.
No one was supposed to see me.
But I had been caught.
As I sat here now, waiting for whatever would happen next, I couldn't help thinking that this was all Mark's fault.
If he hadn't insisted that we take the long route to avoid the cameras, I never would have been in this position.
Of course, if he hadn't insisted that we take the short route to get to the facility before the guards changed shifts, I also never would have been here.
So really it was his fault no matter what.
I sighed.
This wasn't Mark's fault.
This was mine.
I should have been more careful.
I should have stayed hidden.
I should have done a lot of things.
