I never thought that a simple touch could change one's life forever.
I touched an alien.
As silent tears fell onto the forest floor, a torrent of emotions surged through my body.
The alien's eyes had been like two black holes, pulling me in, sucking me under, drowning me in their depths.
I felt like I was dying, like I was being ripped apart and yet I came back together again as if I had been remade.
And when it walked away, disappearing into the night sky, I knew that life as I knew it would never be the same.
The next morning, I woke up feeling different.
I couldn't put my finger on it but I felt... changed.
It wasn't just the encounter with the alien that had done it.
It was the touch.
The touch had awoken something inside of me.
Something that had been sleeping, waiting to be unleashed.
And as I walked to school, surrounded by the familiar sights of the town, I felt it now.
A hum.
A vibration.
A pulse.
It was as if my heart beat in a different way now as if the alien's touch had given me a new rhythm.
It was like a vibration, a thrumming in my veins.
It was faint at first, almost imperceptible.
But with every step I took, it grew stronger.
It was like nothing I had ever felt before.
It was as if my very being was being rewritten, rearranged.
I felt alive, more alive than I had ever felt before.
And yet, at the same time, I felt like I was dying.
The hum inside of me was growing louder, more insistent.
It was like a drumbeat, pulsing through my body.
I could feel it in my fingertips, in my toes, in my hair.
It was like a rhythm that only I could hear.
I tried to ignore it but it was impossible.
It was like a constant presence inside of me, demanding attention.
As I walked through the school gates, I saw Jake waiting for me by the entrance.
He looked concerned and when he saw me he rushed over.
"Lily, are you okay?" he asked, his voice filled with worry.
I nodded but the words felt hollow in my mouth.
"I'm fine," I said but even as I spoke, the hum inside of me grew louder still.
It was like a tidal wave crashing against the shore of my consciousness.
I felt like I was drowning in it, suffocating under its weight. During lunchtime, Sarah joined us and we sat together in the courtyard.
She chattered on about her latest crush and I listened intently, grateful for the distraction from the hum that still pulsed through my veins.
But even as I laughed and joked with my friends, I couldn't shake the feeling that something inside of me had shifted irrevocably.
That night, after dinner, I snuck out of the house and back into the woods.
I retraced my steps from the night before, following the path until I reached the clearing where it all began.
Kneeling on the forest floor, surrounded by the darkness of the trees, I closed my eyes and whispered into the void.
The night air was cool against my skin and I could feel the dew of the grass seeping into my knees.
The hum inside of me was still present, a constant thrumming that seemed to resonate with the rustling of the leaves.
Suddenly, a soft glow illuminated the clearing.
I opened my eyes to see a figure emerging from the shadows.
It was tall and slender, its body glowing with an ethereal light.
As it drew closer, I saw that it had the same black eyes as before.
But this time, they were not empty.
They were filled with a deep understanding, a knowing that went beyond words.
The figure reached out a hand towards me, its fingers long and delicate.
I hesitated for a moment, unsure of what to do.
But then I felt a surge of warmth spread through my body and I knew that I had to take its hand.
As our palms touched, I felt a rush of energy flood through me.
It was like nothing I had ever experienced before.
The warmth spread from my hand to my arm, my chest, my heart.
And as it did, the hum inside of me grew stronger still. The alien's eyes locked onto mine and I felt like I was drowning in their depths once again.
But this time, there was no fear.
There was only understanding and a sense of belonging that went beyond words.
Slowly, the figure guided me to my feet and we began to walk deeper into the woods.
With each step, I realized I was no longer afraid.
