The Mother

She is Timothy and Emily's mother, depicted as submissive and affectionate towards her daughters. She is gentle, timid, and sympathetic. While she shows love to her daughters, she fails to intervene when the children are mistreated by their father. Her reluctance to challenge him highlights her submissive nature in the household. She eventually takes Timothy's side after Emily exposes the family’s unfair treatment.

She is Timothy's older sister, described as a genius. She is caring, empathetic, and protective. The Father

He is Timothy and Emily's father, portrayed as cold and dismissive. He is harsh, judgmental, and unforgiving. He often favors his daughter over his son, showing no affection or support for Timothy. During Emily's birthday, he takes his daughter and mother out for dinner, leaving Timothy behind with no food but a stale piece of bread. His actions highlight his biased treatment of the children.

While I was sketching, a hidden note suddenly slipped from the photo frame onto the floor.
I picked it up and saw that it was my mother's handwriting.
"Dear Timothy,
Mom is sorry that we didn't give you enough love and care when you were little. Mom didn't mean to neglect you and let you suffer so much.
If it weren't for you, Mom wouldn't have been able to stay with Dad.
Mom knows that Dad is not kind to you, but Mom also can't do anything to help you.
Please forgive Mom for not being able to protect you and for giving birth to your sister, Emily.
Mom loves you, but she can't tell anyone.
You must be strong and patient and not give up on yourself.
Mom will always love you no matter what happens.
Your loving mother"
I stared at the note in silence for a long time before finally putting it back into the photo frame.
It was my sister's birthday, and my parents had taken her and my other sister out for dinner.
I was left at home alone with only a piece of bread for dinner.
I hadn't told anyone about how hungry I was, and I didn't expect anyone to pity me.
