I was standing on the outskirts of an abandoned village in rural China, ready to embark on my next adventure.
The sun was blazing hot, with no clouds in sight to provide any sort of relief from the sweltering heat.
Dressed in traditional Chinese attire consisting of black shorts and a short-sleeved shirt, I was already sweating, but I didnāt care.
I couldnāt wait to get started, to see what secrets this village held and what kind of ancient artifacts I would unearth.
āAre you ready?ā
asked my friend Lily Chen, who would be acting as my local guide for the day.
She had long black hair that she had tied into a ponytail and wore a red dress that reached down her knees.
She was a couple of years older than me, but that didnāt stop us from being good friends.
āOf course,ā I said, nodding my head.
āLetās go,ā she said with a smile as she began walking towards the deserted village.
I followed behind her, my excitement building with each step we took.
We had been planning this trip for months, and now that we were finally here, I couldnāt wait to get started.
As we drew closer to the village, I could already tell that this was going to be an interesting day.
The village was completely silent, with no people or animals in sight.
There were no sounds except for those made by the wind as it blew through the grass and the leaves of the trees that surrounded the village on all sides.
It was clear that this place hadnāt seen any visitors for a very long time.
I had read about this village online before coming here, so I knew why it had been abandoned.
According to local legend, the village was cursed, with spirits of the dead roaming its streets at night.
The villagers had been so terrified that they had all fled their homes, never to return.
I even had a chance to speak to the village elder before we came here.
He told me that it would be best if I didnāt enter the village as there was nothing to see.
But I knew that he was just trying to scare me and that there were plenty of treasures to be found here.
I was determined to prove him wrong.
Lily and I walked through the entrance of the village and I immediately felt a chill run down my spine.
There was something eerie about this place, with its narrow, winding paths and ancient structures that looked like they were on the verge of crumbling to pieces.
As we continued walking deeper into the village, I kept my eyes peeled for anything interesting.
Although it was clear that no one had lived here for years, there were still signs of life everywhere.
The grass was overgrown, and some of the houses had fallen into disrepair.
But most of them were still standing, waiting for their owners to come home.
