Taylor Swift: If TikTok Is Banned, I Will Leave the U.S.
I paced back and forth in my living room, my heart racing with fear and uncertainty at the news that TikTok might be banned in the U.
It was only a possibility, but it was enough to worry me and send me into a nervous frenzy.
I couldnāt lose TikTok, not now, not when I needed it the most.
I needed the app to stay connected to my fans, to share videos, and to have fun with them while I was cooped up in my house unable to go out and perform.
The idea of losing TikTok felt like the end of the world to me.
I know itās just an app, but it has become a part of my daily routine.
Itās the only way I can connect with my fans right now, and I rely on it so much that I donāt know what I would do if it disappeared.
I kept telling myself that it probably wouldnāt happen, that the ban was just a rumor, but the more I tried to distract myself, the more I realized how scared I was of waking up to a headline announcing that TikTok had been banned in the U.
That would feel like losing a piece of me.
It wasnāt just about losing numbers or engagement; it was about losing memories, moments, and relationships.
Iāve met so many fans through TikTok.
Iāve laughed with them, cried with them, and danced with them.
Itās not just an app; itās a part of my life, and the thought of losing it felt like a personal attack.
I tried to distract myself by playing games on my phone, but nothing could keep my mind off what might happen if the app were banned.
I knew that there were other platforms where I could connect with my fans, but I didnāt have nearly as many followers on those apps as I did on TikTok, and those other apps didnāt offer me the same opportunity to dance and have fun with my fans the way TikTok did.
Iām a singer, but dancing has always been one of my passions, and I love sharing that passion with my fans on TikTok.
Not being able to do that would break my heart, especially after all of my tour dates were canceled this year due to the pandemic.
I was already upset about not being able to travel around the world to perform for my fans like I had planned, and the thought of losing TikTok too made me feel even worse.
I kept telling myself that there was no reason to worry, that TikTok wouldnāt be banned, but I couldnāt shake off the fear that it might be.
The thought was constantly looming in the back of my mind, making me feel anxious and unsettled.
What if it did get banned?
What would happen next?
How long would it take for me to get over it?
Would I ever be able to move past it?
