I woke up this morning in my cozy house, feeling the warmth of the sun on my face.
My parents were still sleeping, but it didn’t matter.
I was excited to start the day.
When I put my clothes on and made my way downstairs, I could smell something good cooking in the kitchen.
Today was Sunday, which meant a big breakfast with my family!
After filling my stomach with a plate of eggs and a couple of pieces of toast, I knew it was time to go outside.
I grabbed my favorite red ball and raced down the steps leading to the backyard.
The sun was shining brightly in a clear blue sky and colorful flowers could be seen everywhere around me.
I love the garden in my house.
It’s so big that I can run around and play with my ball without worrying about bumping into things all over the place.
I threw my ball as high as I could, then took off running in the direction that it went.
The grass was soft beneath my feet and the sun on my face made me feel warm and happy.
It wasn’t long before I reached the old oak tree.
But something else caught my attention.
On the other side of the tree, there was something fluffy and yellow.
What is that?
My heart raced with excitement when I realized that I didn’t know what it was.
Was it moving?
It looked like it might have been moving slightly.
And was that a sound that I heard?
I couldn’t tell for sure.
The only way to find out what it was would be to investigate for myself.
As I got closer, I became even more curious than before about what this thing might be.
The grass on this side of the tree seemed even softer than before, and the sweet scent of flowers filled the air all around me.
It smelled so nice!
I couldn’t believe how lucky I was to have such a pretty garden outside of my house.
But when I finally arrived at the spot where the yellow thing was, I still didn’t know what it was!
It was so fluffy and soft looking that I wanted to pick it up and hold it in my arms right away!
But something stopped me from doing this.
It was also making a sound – a very quiet sound, but I could definitely hear it now.
And it was moving even more than before!
It must be alive!
But what is it?
I was dying for an answer, but there was only one way to get one.
