I was reading a novel about immortal cultivation.
Yes, you heard that right.
A novel.
About immortal cultivation.
It was one of my favorite genres, along with superhero fiction and fantasy adventure.
I loved reading about people who could become stronger through hard work and dedication, rather than relying on luck or fate.
And I especially loved the worldbuilding that usually came with these kinds of stories.
The idea of a world where people could live forever if they so chose, where they could become stronger simply by cultivating their inner energy, where magic and martial arts were one and the same…
It was amazing to me.
And the best part was that it was so easy to get lost in one of these stories.
So easy to imagine yourself in the shoes of the protagonist as he battled his way through a horde of monsters, slew a powerful demon king, or journeyed across the world in search of a legendary treasure.
And I was so lost in this story, so deep in the world of immortal cultivation, that I completely forgot about my own life until—
