The Double Life of My Billionaire Husband
I never have a moment of peace in this office.
But today I was lucky, as I sat behind the grand oaken desk of my husband’s CEO suite staring out at the New York City skyline.
The uninterrupted view of the sparkling skyline was incredible and I sucked in a deep breath.
This was what my husband worked so hard for, what we both worked so hard for.
I loved it and after meeting Alexander, I quickly discovered that I would do anything to make him happy.
I loved him more than anything and would do anything for him.
Even put my career on hold to help him create his dream.
Alexander was the CEO of Thompson Media Group, one of the largest private media companies in the world and as far as he was concerned, his baby.
I was an attorney by trade but I happily gave up my successful career to help him run it when we got married.
After all, I was already pregnant with our twins, so it didn't seem that big of a sacrifice to me.
I would give up anything to make him happy.
The office phone rang and pulled me out of my thoughts.
I smiled as I picked it up.
“Good morning, Thompson Media Group.” I said with a professional tone.
There was no way people could know that the woman answering the phone was also the owner’s wife, but it didn't matter to me-I was happy and proud to do it.
“Good morning, Isabella.” the voice on the other end said.
It was his assistant, Laura, and she sounded harried and tired already this morning.
“Is Mr.Thompson in yet?”
“He should be here soon,” I said with a smile on my face even though she couldn't see it, “if there is nothing else then I will just wait for him to arrive.”
Laura sighed loudly on the other end of the line before she hung up without another word.
Laura hated me.
She had been here long before me and had hoped to move up in the company, but now with me here she knew that would never happen.
But I could care less what she thought of me.
My main concern was Alexander's happiness, nothing else.
I again looked around the huge office as I thought about how Alexander had come to run this company.
He had been working there since he was eighteen, working his way up from the bottom to take over as CEO fifteen years later.
He was a brilliant man with an incredible work ethic, making his way to the top of Thompson Media Group by thirty-three.
I met him when he was thirty-four and was immediately drawn to his good looks and charm.
I was thirty-one at the time, in the middle of finally finding success as an attorney after years of hard work and dedication.
The moment we met I knew he was different from anyone I had ever met before, someone who was ambitious and driven.
We only dated for a few months before we got married.
It might have seemed fast to others, but when you know you've found your true love it doesn't matter how long you've known each other.
Since then, I had given birth to our beautiful daughter, Sophia, and our handsome son, Lucas.

Now, it was only a few days before our first wedding anniversary and Alexander was leaving for Dubai first thing in the morning.
I was sad to be spending our anniversary apart but it couldn't be helped-he had an important deal to close and there was no way he was going to miss it.
He had already missed too many important days with his kids, so I understood completely why he needed to go.
But I was going to miss him terribly; I missed him already and he hadn't even left yet.
But at least we had a nice dinner out last night at our favorite Italian restaurant in the city.
It was nice but it still wasn't enough; I knew Alexander wanted to spend our anniversary closer to home, but it wouldn't happen this year.
He called my name from the living room and I snapped back to what I was doing.
I was just about to close up for the day so that we could spend one last night together before he left for Dubai in the morning.
I went into the living room where Alexander was sitting comfortably on our large sofa with his feet propped up on the coffee table.
He was dressed in a pair of jeans that hugged his hips perfectly and a tight black t-shirt that showed off the muscles of his chest and arms.
“Hey,” I said softly with a smile on my face as I walked closer to him.
“How was your day?”
“Long,” he said with an exhausted look on his face before he stood up from the sofa and came over to me.
I melted into his arms as I looked up at him.
“I'm sorry I have to go tomorrow.”
“It's okay,” I said with a resigned sigh as I snuggled closer into his embrace.
“I wish you could stay for our anniversary.”
“I know and I want to,” he said as he kissed the top of my head before giving me a quick squeeze and stepping back slightly so that we could look each other in the eyes, “but I have an important deal that I have to close.”
“It's okay,” I said again as I looked up at him with all the love that I felt for him shining in my eyes, “I know you do.”
“I love you,” I said before I leaned up and gave him a quick kiss on the lips.
“More than anything.” He smiled down at me before wrapping me in a tight embrace.
I returned the hug, feeling my eyes fill with tears as I thought about how much I was going to miss him while he was gone.
He was only going for two weeks but it still felt like too long and no matter what I did there was no way I could stop the tears from falling down my face.
“You know I love you more than anything,” he said after we stood there holding each other for a few moments.
I nodded against his chest as more tears threatened to fall from my eyes but I choked them back because I didn't want him to see me cry.
Alexander Thompson was not only the love of my life but also my best friend and it was going to be hard not having him around for two weeks while he was gone on this business trip.
“What time are you leaving in the morning?”
“Six AM,” he said before kissing me gently on the lips once more.

“I'll see you off then.”
“I'm sure you'll be busy with the new office but I'll come and give you a kiss goodbye anyway.”
“Okay,” he smiled as he leaned forward and kissed my forehead gently, “but I have to go pack now or I won’t have everything I need so I'll see you in a little while okay?”
“Okay,” I nodded and gave him one last hug before he turned to go to the bedroom so he could pack his bags.
I watched him go as I felt a wave of sadness wash over me once more, knowing that it wouldn't be long before he would be gone and I would be left alone to sleep by myself for two weeks while he was gone on this business trip.
As promised, I saw Alexander off at six in the morning, giving him one last kiss before he got into the car that was waiting to take him to the airport so he could catch his flight to Dubai.
After he was gone, I went back up to our apartment where I took a shower before changing into my favorite blue suit that I had bought when I had first graduated from law school because I thought it made me look more professional than some of the other suits that I owned did.
Once I was dressed, I took the elevator down to the lobby where my car was waiting for me and then we were off as soon as I got in it so I could get to Thompson Media Group as quickly as possible so I could start my first day on the job as the new CEO of the company, even if it was only temporary while Alexander was away.
When Alexander had first told me that he wanted me to fill in for him at the company while he was away on this business trip I had been shocked and a little surprised but I had decided to do it anyway because I knew that I would be able to do the job and I also knew that it would make the board of directors happy if the company ran smoothly while Alexander wasn't there to run it himself.
