Rising Star: Alex's Journey to Success
Scenario: A young boy pursued his dream of singing by participating in a singing competition and achieved the regional championship and a national ranking of 7th place. However, he faced mistreatment from his company, leading to a turbulent entertainment career. Despite this, after being introduced to acting, he gained popularity. However, he experienced setbacks, including marriage and divorce, which subjected him to online bullying. After a period of depression, he regained his confidence, became increasingly popular through television appearances, and eventually held numerous successful concerts.

I have always loved to sing, and I have always believed that singing was what I was born to do.
The problem was, my parents had never agreed with me on that.
In their opinion, my voice was not only bad but also an unbearable noise.
They had never once supported me in my dream of singing.
I couldn’t deny that I was nervous and anxious when I finally decided to sing in a regional competition.
My mind was filled with my parents’ hurtful words and all the times I had been laughed at.
However, I really wanted to try, so I asked my childhood friend for her opinion.
“Sarah, do you think I can win the championship of the competition?”
I looked at Sarah Thompson hopefully.
She was my best friend and had been my friend for as long as I could remember.
Sarah was a cute girl who had short blonde hair, a small figure, and a pair of big, bright eyes that looked quite pretty.
She had a charming smile and was always optimistic, which was why she was really popular among our friends.
Sarah was also a talented girl who loved music and could play several musical instruments very well.
She was currently studying music composition at college.
In her spare time, she would write songs and play them on her guitar.
She even had a little band that played small gigs now and then.
“Of course you can win!”
Sarah replied without hesitation.
“You have an angel’s voice, Alex! And you’re tall with brown hair, so you’re pretty good looking, too!
You have all the qualities of a pop star!”
“I’m not sure about that…”
I replied with doubtfulness in my voice.
“Don’t be silly, Alex!”
Sarah laughed at me.
“Who do you think you are?
You’re Alex Johnson!
A handsome guy with a great voice!
You’re going to be the next big thing in Hollywood!”
“Alright.” I frowned slightly at her overconfidence.
“Just tell me what I need to prepare for this competition.”
“Don’t worry, Alex.
God’s gift to me is music, and I’ll do everything I can to help you win this competition.”
Sarah responded confidently as she took a deep breath.
“First, let’s register you for the competition.” Sarah handed me a piece of paper and continued, “There is a form you need to fill out.
Give me your details and I’ll fill in the form for you.”
“Alright.” I nodded and started to write down my personal information.
As I was writing, I suddenly heard someone calling out my name.
I looked up and saw a familiar face.
He was a friend who grew up in the same neighborhood as us.
His name was Mark Davis, and he was an intelligent boy who wore glasses.
He was about 5’7 tall and had a medium build.
Back in school, he was always surrounded by books and spent most of his time studying.
He didn’t take part in many extracurricular activities, but he was a witty and dependable friend when we needed him.
After graduating from high school, Mark didn’t go to university.
Instead, he went to work at our local community college as a janitor.
It was a very practical and common job, but it paid well.
“What are you doing here?”
“I’m here to sign up for the regional singing competition.
What about you?”
“I’m here to register as well.”
“Good luck!”
Mark wished me the best of luck.
“You too!”
I returned the wish, and Mark left after that.
Shortly afterward, I finished filling out the form and handed it to Sarah.
She then signed me up for the competition.
On the day of the contest, I was feeling very nervous, but I tried my best not to show it.
Sarah was by my side, supporting me and giving me a lot of encouragement.
However, after the first round of the competition, I realized that my dream of being a pop star might be just that—a dream.
The judges were not happy with my performance at all and gave me some very harsh feedback.
After reading it, I felt like I had been hit in the face hard and was left staring at the judges with my mouth wide open.
How could they say that?
I was at a loss for words.
They didn’t even mention my singing!
Instead, they told me that I was not suitable for a career in music!
I was far too tall to be a pop star!
Moreover, I was too old to be a pop star!
I was shocked by their comments and didn’t know how to react or respond to them.
After a long period of silence, I decided to give up my dream of being a singer and leave the competition right away.
Unfortunately, the judges stopped me before I could do so, and they all looked at me seriously, as if they were going to say something important to me.
“Alex, we believe that you can make it in this industry, but you need to know that you’re not cut out to be a pop star.” One of the judges said to me in a solemn tone of voice.
“That’s right,” another judge agreed with him, “Your face and body are very ordinary, and you don’t have any distinct features that can set you apart from others.”
“You’re not good looking enough.” Another judge continued, “That’s why you should just give up on your singing career and leave the stage now.”
I was speechless after hearing their comments.
I didn’t know what to say or do next.
The only thing I wanted to do right now was leave this place and never come back again!
Sarah walked up to me and grabbed my hand tightly before I could make any decision.
She looked at me with her big eyes filled with worry and said softly, “Alex, don’t listen to them!
You have a great voice and I love it! Your voice is like an angel’s voice!
I don’t care what those judges think!
If they are blind enough not to see your talent, then it’s their loss!”
Tears welled up in her eyes, and she continued, “I know it’s hard for you to stand in front of so many people and perform on stage, but you did great!
You did what you’ve always wanted to do and made so many people happy!
You can’t give up on your dream just because of what these people say!
They are nobody to you!
You should believe in yourself, in your voice, and in your dream!”
After saying that, Sarah looked at me and smiled brightly as if she had seen the future where I would become a superstar and conquer the world with my voice.
I was stunned for a moment and didn’t know how to react until Sarah suddenly hugged me tightly and shouted excitedly, “Alex, you’re a superstar!!
The judges were wrong about you!!
You’re a superstar and I’ll always support you!!
You’ll definitely make it big in the music industry and become the most famous singer in the whole world!!!
This kind of enthusiasm was so infectious that it made me feel like I could actually become a superstar in the future.
But I knew it was impossible for me to achieve that kind of fame and success no matter how hard I tried, after all, I was not good looking enough!
Despite that, I was still very happy because Sarah was so proud of me and believed in me so much.
Her happiness was everything to me!
Seeing her smile, I couldn’t help but smile as well and said softly, “Thank you for always being there for me and for helping me realize my dream again when I thought it was impossible for me to do it.
Within seconds after I finished my sentence, Sarah was already crying with joy again and hugged me even tighter as she said excitedly, “Alex, I’m so proud of you! You’re going to be famous soon!!”
Being able to make her smile and bring her joy was everything to me!
I was willing to do anything for her and would never give up on my dream again no matter what happened in the future as long as she was always there for me and supported me wholeheartedly.
Sarah and I were both very happy at this moment but I couldn’t stay here any longer because there were other contestants who were waiting to perform on stage and it wasn’t fair for them if I made them wait too long just because we were celebrating my victory and discussing my future as a singer here.
So I said gently to Sarah who was still hugging me tightly with tears of joy in her eyes, “Sarah, let’s talk about this later after we leave this place.”
Jake, who had been standing behind us, suddenly came up to me, smiled, and said, “You did a great job on stage just now, Alex! I have to admit that you’re really talented! And your voice is amazing!”
I was a little surprised when Jake said that because he had always been very quiet and didn’t know how to talk to girls properly in the past, so I thought he must have had a crush on Sarah after seeing her beauty for the first time today, but it turned out that he actually liked my voice and thought that I was very talented, which made me very happy because it meant that I had made a new friend today who shared the same dream with me and would always support me as well, just like Sarah!
I smiled at Jake and thanked him before asking him, “By the way, do you have a guitar that I can use for my performance?”
He looked at me in surprise before nodding his head and said, “Yes, of course! You can use mine!”
