Espresso Dreams: AL's Bug World Adventures
Scenario: A-L is a ladybug. A-L writing a diary about all adventures he experiences while he travels around the globe. Sometimes in big cities, sometimes in the outback, and sometimes in unknown parallel world of small bugs. A-L likes coffee - A-L loves an espresso with a perfect golden crema, and A-L loves to lay relaxing on a coffee bean.
It's an absurd, surrealistic, happy and sometimes psychedelic world inspired by Douglas Adams and Tolkien.

I’m a ladybug, and my name is A-L.
You can’t tell, but I’m smiling so hard right now.
That’s because I love adventure, I love learning stuff, I love getting to know new people—er, bugs!
—and I love espresso!
But most of all I love adventure!
And I’m about to have the adventure of a lifetime!
I was crawling around one day, just minding my own business, when I stumbled onto a portal to a parallel world!
I had heard rumors that there were other worlds out there, but I didn’t really believe it.
Well, guess what?
There are!!
A few seconds later, I found myself in The Outback.
I know, I know…when you hear “The Outback,” you probably think of Australia.
But this place is even more extreme than that!
It’s like a desert with red mountains and a harsh sun beating down on it.
I’m used to living in a forest with lots of shade and a cooler temperature, so I wasn’t sure if I could handle all of this.
But then again, what’s the point of coming all the way here if I wasn’t going to have some fun?
So I put on my game face and headed out to see what this world was all about!
The first person—or bug—I met was a Weevil.
Actually, I met two Weevils.
They were standing on their hind legs and talking to each other in hushed tones.
When they saw me, they stopped talking and looked at me with suspicion.
Then they scurried away as fast as they could.
I followed them for a while, but they were too fast for me so eventually I gave up.
Every once in a while, while I was walking around The Outback, I would see Weevils standing on their hind legs and looking around as if something was about to happen.
It was strange and made me feel like there was something dangerous going on around me that I didn’t know about.
That made me even more curious about this place and made me want to find out everything about it!
The next bug I met was a Buzzy Beetle.
He had a shiny green shell and was chewing on something.
“Who are you?”
I asked as I got closer.
“I’m just a Buzzy Beetle,” he said.
“I’m nothing special.”
“I don’t know about that,” I said.
“In fact, I heard that Buzzy Beetles are really wise and know everything.”
“Well,” he said as he stopped chewing and looked at me, “I don’t know if I would say we know everything.”
“But we do know a lot of things!”
Then he told me some stories about the history of The Outback and the other bugs who lived there.
It was all really interesting and it made me want to learn more.
But then he said something that made me stop and think for a second.
“If you’re going to be living here for a while,” he said, “you should probably get to know the Weevils.”
“Why’s that?”
I asked him.
“Well…” he said as he looked around to make sure no one was listening.
“They say that there’s a giant creature living here in The Outback!”
I gasped when I heard this.
He told me that he didn’t know what kind of creature it was, but that it was really big!
And it had been spotted recently, too!
I knew that I had to be careful when I was out looking for adventure.
I thanked him for letting me know about the giant creature and headed off to find out more.
But then I realized that I didn’t even ask him his name!
So I turned around to go back and ask him again, but he was gone.
He must have been in a hurry to get somewhere else.
As I was thinking about all of this, I suddenly found myself standing in front of those two Weevils again.
They were standing on their hind legs and talking to each other in hushed tones just like before.
But when they saw me, they stopped talking and looked at me with surprise.
Then they said in unison, “What are YOU doing here?”
They looked like they were in such shock that they started rolling away from me.
They rolled one way.
Then they bumped into each other and changed direction.
Then they rolled another way.
Then they bumped into me and rolled away again!
This went on for a while and I was laughing so hard I thought I was going to roll away with them!
It was so funny!
Finally, I asked them why they were acting like this.
“We heard a rumor…” one of them said as they rolled away from me again.
“There’s a giant creature in The Outback…” the other one said as they rolled away from me as well.
I guess they’re talking about me?
I thought to myself as I watched them roll away with their little legs sticking out front of them and their little arms sticking out to the sides like airplane wings.
Since then, I’ve been exploring The Outback by myself, looking for fun things to do and new places to see.
Last night, as I was getting ready to go to sleep, I saw the red mountains rolling away from me.
I thought it was really strange because I’ve never seen mountains move before!
That’s when I realized that there was a blue moon in the sky!
It must be really powerful if it can make mountains move like this!
The next morning, when I woke up, I found some things lying around my campsite.
There were some pebbles arranged into a heart shape, along with some flowers and leaves.
It turns out that those Weevils who were acting all weird are nice after all!
They left gifts for me while I was sleeping!
The sun was slowly rising over the red mountains on the horizon, painting the sky in beautiful shades of red, orange, pink, and purple.
The Weevils probably saw this while they were standing on their hind legs and thought they should leave some gifts for me because they knew I would be appreciative of such beauty?
That’s when I decided that I should leave them a gift as well: a thank-you note!
So I wrote a note to thank them for the gifts and put it on a rock where they could see it easily.
The note was glowing in the sun, and it was saying with a soft voice: "Thanx 4 beans, means & seens". And off I got to the mountains.
Espresso and I continued our journey through The Outback.
We were walking down a path that took us to a beautiful lake called the Crystal Lake.
The lake was surrounded by lush greenery, and its sparkling waters were reflecting the clear blue sky above it.
Espresso was rolling around and jumping up and down with excitement.
“Wow, A-L!” she shouted as she ran around with her little arms flapping.
“This place is so pretty!”
I felt really happy when I saw how happy she was.
It made me think about how much fun it is to have friends and do things together.
After all, it’s not what we’re doing or where we’re going that matters; it’s who we’re with that counts.
So I felt really lucky and thankful that I had someone like Espresso to hang out with in this strange and surrealistic world.
Although I still think she's hiding something from me.
As we walked around the lake, we saw a small waterfall cascading down from a cliff and into the lake.
There were some bugs swimming in the water and having fun in the sun.
“Look at those bugs!”
I said as I pointed my arm towards them.
“They seem to be having a good time!”
“Yeah!” Espresso said as she looked around with a big smile on her face.
“I’m so glad I came with you on this adventure!”
“I’m glad you came with me too,” I said as I looked at her with a big smile on my face.
After walking around the lake for a while, we saw that there was a path leading up into the mountains.
We decided to follow this path and see where it took us.
After walking up into the mountains for a while, we saw that there were some ancient ruins standing in front of us.
It looked as if they were built by an ancient civilization a long time ago and then abandoned.
I thought it was really cool how these ruins were still standing here and telling us stories about what had happened in this place centuries ago.
Espresso and I walked around the ruins for a while.
We were looking at all of the different buildings and wondering what they were used for.
I think she was also looking for any signs of hidden treasure.
After walking around for a while, we both stopped and sat down on a rock in front of one of the buildings.
We were looking at it in silence and thinking about all of the things that had happened here so long ago.
“Hey,” Espresso said as she looked at me with a big smile.
“Thanks for bringing me here.”
“I’m glad you came with me,” I said as I smiled back at her.
Then we sat there in silence for a while longer and listened to what the ruins were saying to us.
While we were sitting there, Espresso accidentally bumped into me because she got excited about something and wanted to show me.
“Sorry,” she said with a small smile on her face.
“It’s okay,” I said with a small smile on my face as well.
Then she ran away and I chased after her!
We ran around and bumped into each other for a while before we finally stopped in front of another building.
“Ha ha ha!” Espresso laughed as she put her little arms on her belly.
“That was so much fun!”
“Yeah,” I said as I put my arm behind my head and looked around with a big smile on my face.
“I love running around!”
“Me too!” Espresso said as she looked around with a big smile on her face as well.
“Hey, check this out!”
Then she walked towards one of the walls and started climbing up it!
“Whoa!”
I said as I watched her climb up the wall with my arm raised up.
“That’s so cool!”
“Ha ha ha!” Espresso laughed as she climbed up the wall with her little arms and legs flapping around.
“I told you I was good at climbing!”
After watching Espresso climb up the wall for a while, I decided to try climbing up it myself as well!
It was so much fun to climb up the wall with my little arms and legs flapping around, just like Espresso!
As we climbed up the wall, we saw that there was another path leading up into the mountains from the top of the wall.
We decided to follow this path and see where it took us.
After walking up into the mountains for a while, we saw that there was a small puddle standing in front of us.
It was so strange to see this small puddle standing in the middle of the desert all by itself.
It felt like something was missing or wrong, but I couldn’t quite put my finger on it yet.
Then I remembered that we had seen another path leading down into the desert from the top of the wall just now!
So I jumped down from the top of the wall and ran back down into the desert to check if anything was wrong with this small puddle.
As I ran down into the desert, I saw that the Water Beetles were still dancing in their ballet around this small puddle and doing their best to keep it from evaporating completely under the hot sun.
Then I noticed that something was wrong with this small puddle!
It looked like this small puddle was supposed to be part of a big river, but something must have gone wrong and caused this small puddle to get separated from its river and left alone in the desert by itself!
When I told this to the Water Beetles, they stopped dancing and looked at me in surprise.
“Really?”
they asked as they looked around in confusion.
“No wonder we’ve been feeling so lost and empty all this time!”
“Yeah,” I said with a small smile on my face.
“I think it’ll be much better for this small puddle if you turn it back into a big river again!”
“Ha ha ha!” the Water Beetles laughed as they flew around my head.
“We’re just kidding!”
they said with a big smile.
They said as they flew around my head.
“Ha ha ha!”
the Water Beetles laughed as they flew around my head.
“We can’t do anything about it, so we might as well have some fun and enjoy ourselves while we’re here!”
“Wow,” I said with a small smile on my face.
“You guys are so amazing!”
“Thank you,” they said with a big smile as they landed on my arm.
Then they started dancing in their ballet around the small puddle again like nothing had happened.
I watched them dance for a little while, and then I suddenly got an idea!
“Hey guys,” I said with a big smile as I looked at the Water Beetles.
“Do you think I can dance with you guys too?”
“You want to dance with us?”
the Water Beetles asked in surprise as they looked at me.
“Yeah,” I said with an excited look on my face.
“I’ve always wanted to try dancing, but I’ve never had the chance before!”
The Water Beetles looked at each other for a little while, and then they all started laughing together.
“Ha ha ha!”
they laughed as they flew around my head.
“No problem at all! The more the merrier! Let’s have some fun together!”
“Thank you so much!”
I said with a big smile as I jumped into the air and started flying around the small puddle like the Water Beetles.
I flew around the small puddle like the Water Beetles for a little while, and then I suddenly got an idea again!
So I landed on the ground next to the small puddle and did a couple of warm-up stretches to get ready to dance with the Water Beetles.
Then I took a deep breath and started dancing in my own special way!
I twirled around on one foot and did a couple of pirouettes like a real ballerina, and then I jumped into the air and did a couple of jumps before landing back on the ground again.
I continued dancing like this for a little while, and then I suddenly got an idea again!
So I twirled around in the air and did a couple of somersaults before diving down into the small puddle to finish my dance with a big splash!
When I came out of the small puddle, I saw that all the Water Beetles were looking at me in amazement.
“Wow,” they said together with a big smile as they clapped their hands for me.
“Thank you so much!”
I said with a big smile as I walked out of the small puddle.
That was so much fun!”
I said with a big smile as I jumped into the air.
“Yeah,” the Water Beetles said together with a big smile as they flew around my head.
“It was so much fun! We should do this again sometime!”
After that, I continued walking through The Outback with Buzzy Beetle for a little while, and then we suddenly saw that there was something different in front of us!
It was the edge of The Outback!
We walked to the edge of The Outback and looked down at what was below us, and we saw that there was a long black line stretching out below us.
It was the road that we had been walking on for so long!
And beyond that there was only darkness.
It was almost like we were standing at the edge of the world!
We both stood there for a little while and looked down at what was below us, but then I suddenly heard something flapping behind me, and when I turned around I saw that Lulu Butterfly had come to see me again!
“Oh,” I said when I saw her with a big smile.
“What are you doing here?”
“Hello,” Lulu Butterfly said with a happy smile as she landed on the ground next to me.
“I just wanted to come and say goodbye to you.”
“What do you mean?”
I asked her with a curious look on my face.
“I mean that I think it’s time for you to go back home now,” Lulu Butterfly said with a big smile as she looked at me.
“But I don’t want to go back home yet!”
I said with a pout on my face.
“I still have so many things that I want to see and do!”
“That’s true,” Lulu Butterfly said with a big smile as she looked at me, “but don’t worry, because I have something special for you before you go home!”
“What is it?”
I asked her curiously as I flew up into the air in front of her.
“Follow me,” Lulu Butterfly said with a big smile as she started flying up into the air in front of me.
She flapped her wings and flew around the edge of The Outback, and then she suddenly stopped in front of a rock wall and started flapping her wings really fast in front of it!
As she did this, the rock wall suddenly started moving and revealing a hidden portal behind it!
“Wow!”
I said with wide eyes when I saw the hidden portal behind the rock wall.
“Yes,” Lulu Butterfly said with a big smile as she flew up into the air next to me, “isn’t it amazing?”
she continued as she flew around the portal in front of me, showing me what it looked like from different angles.
It was a swirling vortex made up of many different colors and light, and it looked like it could take us anywhere!
“What is this place?”
“I want to show you something,” Lulu Butterfly said with a big smile as she flew over to the hidden portal and stopped in front of it.
I flew up into the air and looked into the hidden portal, and then I suddenly saw that there were many different colors and lights swirling around inside it!
“This is a portal,” Lulu Butterfly said with a big smile as she flew over to the hidden portal and landed on the ground next to it.
“It leads to the realm of small bugs! The other world beyond our own! And I think that is where you should go next.”
“The realm of small bugs?”
“Yes,” Lulu Butterfly said with a big smile as she flew over to me and landed on my head, “it’s a world full of many other small bugs like you! And I think that you will have a lot of fun there!”
“Really?”
I said with wide eyes as I stared at the hidden portal and thought about what Lulu Butterfly had just said.
“I’m sure that you will,” Lulu Butterfly said with a big smile as she looked at me, “but remember that not everything there will be as nice and friendly as me!”
I nodded my head, and then I suddenly felt someone tugging at my shell from behind me!
When I turned around, I saw that it was Buzzy Beetle, and he was tugging on my shell so hard that it hurt!
“Let go of me, Buzzy Beetle!”
I shouted angrily as I glared at him and tried to shake him off of me!
“No way!”
Buzzy Beetle shouted as he continued tugging on my shell behind me, “I’m coming with you no matter what!”
“Fine,” I said angrily as I glared at Buzzy Beetle, “come with us if you want to, but don’t blame me if you get hurt!”
“Yes!” Buzzy Beetle shouted happily when he heard what I had just said, and then he suddenly let go of my shell and started flying up into the air in front of me!
“Let’s go!”
he shouted excitedly as he started flying over toward the hidden portal in front of us!
As we flew through the hidden portal in front of us, I suddenly felt a strange sensation washing over me!
It felt like I was being pulled in every direction at once, and it made me feel really dizzy!
As we flew through the hidden portal, I saw many different colors and lights swirling all around us, and they were moving so fast that it made me feel like I was going crazy!
And then, before I knew it, we suddenly flew out of the hidden portal and into another world!
When we flew out of the hidden portal and into another world, I suddenly saw that it was a beautiful place full of many different things!
There were many tall red mountains towering all around us, and they were so tall that they almost seemed to be touching the sky!
There were many sparkling waters flowing all around us, and they were so clear that you could see all the way down to the bottom!
And there were many ancient ruins scattered all around us, and they were so old that they almost seemed to be alive!
“This is amazing!”
A small bug suddenly said to me, “Please follow me!”
When the small bug suddenly spoke to me, I suddenly felt a strange sensation washing over me, just like I did when I flew through the hidden portal, but this time it made me feel really calm for some reason!
For some reason, I suddenly felt like I could trust this small bug, and I wanted to follow him no matter what!
So, I said to him, “Okay,” in a calm voice, even though I didn’t know whether or not I would be able to trust him in the future!
And then the small bug suddenly started flying away from me, and he started flying up toward a tall red mountain in front of us!
“Please follow me!”
he shouted as he flew away from me, “I will take you to a place where you can expand your senses!”
And then, before I knew it, the small bug had disappeared into thin air, and a few moments later, Buzzy Beetle suddenly flew up toward me with a huge smile on his face.
“Let’s go!”
Buzzy Beetle shouted as he flew up in front of me and started flying up toward the tall red mountain in front of us!
As Buzzy Beetle flew up toward the tall red mountain in front of us, I suddenly realized that we had to climb all the way up to the top of the mountain if we wanted to find out where that small bug had gone!
So, I took a deep breath and started climbing up the side of the mountain with Buzzy Beetle in front of me.
When we finally reached the top of the mountain, I suddenly saw that there was a huge chasm separating us from another beautiful mountain standing in the distance.
And then Buzzy Beetle suddenly flew over to the side of the chasm in front of us and said to me, “This is it!”
As soon as we crossed the chasm, we found ourselves standing in front of a very beautiful garden that seemed to be filled with all kinds of strange plants.
I looked down at the strange garden in front of me as if in a trance.
And then I suddenly realized that there seemed to be a lot of very small bugs walking around this garden.
But these bugs seemed to be a lot smaller than me!
At this point, Buzzy Beetle pointed into the garden below us and said to me, “This is The Outback!And you can find all kinds of strange plants in this garden!You can even find coffee trees in this garden!”
Suddenly realizing that I could actually find coffee trees in this garden, my eyes suddenly lit up as I rushed down into the garden below me without even thinking about it.
As soon as they flew down into the garden below them, they found that there were all kinds of strange plants growing around them.
But what surprised them even more was that there were all kinds of strange little bugs walking around them.
These little bugs seemed to be tiny copies of themselves, but they seemed to be a lot smaller than them!
Looking down at these tiny bugs in front of me, I couldn’t help but ask Buzzy Beetle curiously, “Why are these bugs so much smaller than us?”
Looking down at these tiny bugs in front of me, Buzzy Beetle smiled and said to me, “I don’t know why they’re so small either.But one thing’s for sure.It’s going to be very difficult for us to get a cup of coffee if we can’t find a way to make ourselves smaller!”
I nodded my head thoughtfully when I heard this.
But then I suddenly remembered why I had come here!
So, after taking a deep breath, I took out my diary and shouted at Buzzy Beetle, “I came here just to get a good cup of coffee!So, let’s go find The Outback coffee plantation now!”
When Buzzy Beetle heard what I said, she stared at me with her eyes wide open for a long time before she finally said to me in disbelief, “You actually came here just to have coffee?You really like coffee too much!”
After hearing what Buzzy Beetle said, I finally realized that I seemed to like coffee too much!
So, after giving myself a good scolding, I flew out of the garden with Buzzy Beetle at once.
As soon as I flew out of the garden, I suddenly saw a strange sign hanging on a small red mountain in front of me.
And that sign read, “The Outback Coffee Plantation”!
After seeing the sign, I immediately flew over to the small red mountain in front of me with Buzzy Beetle.
This small red mountain was actually the famous Outback Coffee Plantation!
The Outback Coffee Plantation was located on the top of a small red mountain.
There were all kinds of strange plants growing on the small red mountain.
And there was also a very strong smell of freshly roasted beans in the air.
But the most eye-catching thing about this small red mountain was that there was an extremely large coffee tree growing in the middle of it.
It was not yet noon, but the whole coffee tree was already full of ripe coffee fruits!
The coffee fruits were bright red in color, while their seeds were dark green in color.
As we were standing at the foot of this small red mountain, we could see two very eye-catching places in the distance.
One was Uluru, which is also known as Ayers Rock.
It was an extremely large monolith that was completely made of red rock.
At this moment, it was shining golden in the sunset, making it look especially sacred and solemn.
The other one is Kata Tjuta, which is also known as The Olgas.
It is actually a collection of many round dome-shaped rocks.
There are more than 30 of these round dome-shaped rocks, which look like giant beehives from a distance.
These two places are considered to be must-see attractions for tourists who come to The Outback.
And they are also considered by many people to be the most beautiful natural wonders in The Outback.
After taking a few deep breaths of the fresh air that was filled with the smell of the ripe coffee fruits, I suddenly felt very refreshed and comfortable!
At this moment, Buzzy Beetle suddenly shouted excitedly at me, “Wow!It’s so beautiful!It’s like paradise!It’s like a dream!”
After hearing Buzzy Beetle’s shout, I immediately looked towards the two natural wonders in the distance!
And it didn’t take long before my eyes were completely attracted by the two places!
As I looked at the two places that resembled a monolith and giant beehives respectively, I couldn’t help but sigh in my heart!
At this moment, I suddenly remembered the water that I had left!
When I thought about the remaining water that we had left, Buzzy Beetle suddenly shouted excitedly at me again and said, “Wow!This place is so beautiful!It’s so amazing!It’s simply unforgettable!Ladybug!Let’s take a photo together!”
I shook my head without saying anything when I heard what Buzzy Beetle said.
As soon as we got here, we had already taken out all of our water and drank it up!
So, when Buzzy Beetle heard my answer, she stopped talking and went silent again!
But after going silent for a while, she suddenly looked at me and asked me curiously, “Ladybug!Why are you looking at me like this?What’s wrong with you?”
I thought to myself, “What’s wrong with me?Of course it’s because of the water!”
But after thinking about it for a while, I finally decided not to say it out loud!
So after taking a few deep breaths of air again, I flew towards the two beautiful places with Buzzy Beetle!
But as we were flying, we were constantly chatting and laughing happily!
After flying for about two hours, we finally arrived at the foot of Uluru!
At this moment, the sun was shining brightly!
The whole place was filled with golden light!
After taking a few deep breaths of air that was filled with the smell of the ripe coffee fruits again, I suddenly felt very refreshed and comfortable!
After seeing that I had stopped laughing and chatting with her again, Buzzy Beetle suddenly asked me curiously, “Why did you stop?”
I thought to myself, “It’s because I’m thirsty!”
But after thinking about it for a while, I still didn’t say anything!
So after taking a few deep breaths of fresh air again, I flew towards the monolith!
Buzzy Beetle was flying together with me as well!
But as we were flying towards the monolith together, Buzzy Beetle suddenly asked me curiously again, “Where are we going now?”
I thought to myself, “We’re going to find water!”
But after thinking about it for a while, I still didn’t say it out loud!
So after taking a few deep breaths of fresh air again, I flew towards the monolith!
After flying for about four hours, we finally arrived at Kata Tjuta!
At this moment, the sun was shining brightly as well!
The whole place was filled with golden light as well!
However, as soon as we arrived at Kata Tjuta and took a few deep breaths of fresh air that was filled with the smell of ripe coffee fruits again, we suddenly realized that we had run out of water!
When Buzzy Beetle heard what I said and saw that I had put away the empty bottle of water that we had left, she suddenly widened her eyes in shock and asked me with an incredible look on her face, “What?What do you mean?”
I thought to myself while keeping silent and didn’t say anything!
But after thinking about it for a while, I still decided not to say it out loud!
So after taking a few deep breaths of fresh air again and flying towards the direction where we came from with Buzzy Beetle immediately!
As we were flying towards the direction where we came from, I suddenly realized that Buzzy Beetle was a little unhappy at this moment!
So while we were flying, I asked Buzzy Beetle curiously, “Buzzy Beetle!What’s wrong with you?”
When Buzzy Beetle heard what I said, she suddenly looked at me and asked me curiously, “Ladybug!Do you know how to drink what-er?”
I thought to myself, “Drink what-er?How do I drink it?”
But I didn’t say anything and kept silent!
However, when Buzzy Beetle saw that I didn’t answer her question, she suddenly looked at me and asked me curiously, “Ladybug!What’s wrong with you?Why are you ignoring me?”
When Buzzy Beetle heard what I said, she suddenly widened her eyes in shock and asked me with an incredulous look on her face, “What do you mean?”
I thought to myself, “What do I mean?”
But I didn’t say anything and kept silent!
So while I was flying, I suddenly realized that it wouldn’t be easy for us to find any water sources in this desert where there were no plants or trees at all!
When Buzzy Beetle saw my gloomy face, she suddenly looked at me worriedly and asked me nervously, “Ladybug!Why do you look like this?What happened to you?”
I thought to myself while looking up at the blazing sun that was shining so brightly in the sky, “We have already flown for more than four hours!However, we still haven’t found any water sources yet!”
As soon as I thought of this, I suddenly looked back at Buzzy Beetle who was flying behind me with a worried look on her face and said to her angrily, “Buzzy Beetle!Can’t you see that this is a desert?”
When Buzzy Beetle heard what I said, she suddenly looked at me doubtfully and asked me curiously, “What’s so strange about it?”
When Buzzy Beetle heard what I said, she suddenly looked even more confused as she asked me curiously.
When I heard Buzzy Beetle’s words, I suddenly felt my head spinning around for a while.
