Everything changed in a split second.
The solar system was moved into the Andromeda galaxy.
Humanity was relocated 2.537 million light-years from home.
It was called The Shift.
An event that defied all known laws of physics.
It sent shockwaves across the globe, sparking fear, awe, and confusion.
For most people, it was just another normal day.
But for me, it was the moment I became part of something bigger than myself.
Something that will be remembered for generations to come.
As a journalist, my job is to capture reality as it unfolds, and report the facts without any bias.
But that day, trying to make sense of what happened was not easy.
I was overwhelmed by the chaos that erupted on Earth.
People were running in every direction, some screaming, some crying, others just staring at the sky in disbelief.
Nobody knew what to do or who to call for help.
The Shift had just happened and the biggest mystery of our time was unfolding right before our eyes: how did we end up in another galaxy?
Our home was the Milky Way, but now we were on the outskirts of Andromeda.
I’ll never forget the moment I realized this fact.
In my panic, I ran to my car and turned on the radio, hoping for some answers.
I didn’t find any, but I did capture a piece of history.
You can hear my shaky voice in the recording, as I tried to make sense of what I was seeing: a sky filled with foreign stars and planets that weren’t there before.
It took me several days to process what happened, and even longer for reality to sink in.
But news outlets all over the world did their best to explain the situation to everyone watching back home.
Government and space agencies were contacted, but none had any idea what was going on.
They scrambled to get their best scientists and engineers on the case, but it was clear from their body language that they had no idea how to proceed.
The religious community was also in a state of panic.
Some believed it was a sign from god or a higher being that we were being punished for our sins.
While others thought it was a test of faith and we were meant to find a way to survive this ordeal.
A few days after The Shift occurred, we received a message from Andromeda: “We come in peace.”
Some called it a beacon of hope, others a warning sign of war to come.
The message was picked up by a telescope array on Earth before we were moved to our new location, and it had been growing stronger ever since our arrival.
