a fancy sport-car, drive in sandy land
I’d been dreaming of this moment for as long as I could remember.
It was my reward to myself for all the hard work and dedication I’d given to my business over the past few years.
I’d made sacrifices and now it was time to treat myself.
I stood in the dealership, my hands clasped in front of me, my eyes fixated on the beautiful car in front of me.
Deep down, I’d always known I would own one of these cars one day.
And that day had finally come.
I was about to own the most powerful, most beautiful, most expensive sports car on the planet.
The Bugatti Veyron Super Sport.
Even though I was successful, I had always been careful with my money and investments, but when it came to cars, I was anything but careful.
I had a weakness for fast, powerful, beautiful cars and I wasn’t ashamed to admit it.
I’d owned many supercars over the years, but nothing compared to what I was about to take home with me today.
My heart was pounding with excitement and my stomach was doing somersaults.
I couldn’t believe this was really happening.
The salesman stepped up behind me and cleared his throat, making me jump slightly.
“Are you ready?”
he asked with a smile on his face that showed he already knew the answer.
“I was born ready,” I said confidently, trying to sound as though my heart wasn’t about to beat out of my chest.
He chuckled and moved around me.
He walked over to the car and pulled out some keys from his pocket.
He unlocked the door and opened it up for me.
“Congratulations on your new car, Ms.Williams,” he said as he stepped back and allowed me to take a look inside at the luxurious interior.
“Thank you,” I said with a smile as I looked around at the black leather seats and shiny dashboard.
The car smelled brand new, although that wasn’t a surprise since it pretty much was brand new.
The Bugatti Veyron Super Sport was the fastest production car in the world with a top speed of 267.856 mph.
I slid into the driver’s seat and felt as though I was right where I belonged.
It had always been my dream to own a Bugatti Veyron and now that dream was finally coming true.
I closed the door and turned to look at the salesman who was standing outside, watching me intently.
“So what do you think?”
he asked with a smile.
“It’s perfect,” I said excitedly.
“Now let’s get this show on the road.”
The salesman nodded and moved around to the passenger side of the car.
He opened up the door and climbed inside.
“Let’s go over all of the details before we head out,” he said.
“Sure,” I said with a nod.
I was so excited that I didn’t even need to be reminded to go over everything.
We spent over an hour going through every little detail of the car and I approved all of them.
There was nothing wrong with this car.
Which again shouldn’t have been a surprise since it was brand new.
After we were finished going through everything, I grabbed the keys from him and slid them into my pocket.
“It’s all good to go then?”
Desert Drive: A Luxury Adventure
“It sure is,” he said with a smile.
“Congratulations again and I hope you have a safe drive back.”
“Thank you,” I said with a smile.
“Take good care of my baby,” he said, patting the side of the car.
I chuckled and nodded.
“Don’t worry, I will.”
He walked away and I started up the car.
I took a deep breath and tried to calm my racing heart.
I had a long journey ahead of me.
I wasn’t exactly sure where I was going to go yet, but I knew that it was going to be a journey of epic proportions.
I backed out of the parking space and carefully made my way out of the dealership and onto the road.
“Have a safe drive back,” I heard in my earpiece.
I smiled at his sweet words.
He had no idea just how far from driving safely I was about to get.
I turned to look over at him, my eyes scanning over his tall, muscular frame as he sat in his seat looking all confident and relaxed.
If I could have taken him with me in this car, I would have.
But that would have been impossible.
I could always use some extra muscle.
I had no idea what I was going to encounter on this adventure, but I knew that I couldn’t do it without him.
He had been with me every step of the way and he was going to be with me every step of the way moving forward.
Even if he didn’t want to be.
I’d had to talk him into coming along and even then, he had been very hesitant.
He was a mechanic at heart and he didn’t like to leave his garage for any length of time, but he hadn’t had a choice in the matter when it came to me.
It wasn’t that I couldn’t handle things on my own, because I could, but I liked having him there beside me.
He knew me better than anyone else and he understood me more than anyone else.
We’d been friends for years and our friendship was one of the most important things in the world to me.
He made me feel safe and secure and I needed that in times like these.
I pulled out onto the open road and made my way out of town.
The sun beat down on my face and I tried not to get too nervous as I thought about what I was about to do.
My dream car followed behind me on a trailer as I drove my current car.
There was something so wrong about that, but there was nothing I could do about it.
I’d always known that I would never be able to drive this car home myself, but that didn’t make it any less painful.
I glanced over at the trailer and saw the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport sitting there all nice and shiny, looking oh so irresistible.
My stomach gave another flip and I took another deep breath, trying not to throw up as I thought about what I was about to do.
This wasn’t just about driving my new car home.
This was about driving out of my comfort zone and doing something I’d never done before.
It wasn’t just about how expensive the car was or how fast it could go.
It was about how powerful it was and how much control it required from me.
Desert Drive: A Luxury Adventure
I couldn’t wait to get out of the city and see what this bad boy could do, but I was also a little nervous about getting so close to it and not being able to take it home today.
I felt a little like a kid in an ice cream store who was being teased with flavors she’d never get to taste.
But that was how it went when it came to dream cars.
You did what you had to do to make them your own and you enjoyed every second of it, even if you had to wait for the moment to come.
It was just part of the journey and I had always known that there would be obstacles in my way and I would have to overcome every single one of them to get what I wanted.
This was just another step in the journey and I was going to make it work, no matter what it took.
When we got to the edge of the Mojave Desert, I parked my car in the small parking lot and got out to stretch my legs as I waited for them to bring over the Super Sport.
The desert was so hot that I felt like I was going to pass out and I knew that I was going to have to get used to it if I wanted to make it through the next few days without falling over dead.
I wished we could have come at night when it wasn’t so hot, but I knew that would have been too much for James and he wouldn’t have liked it at all.
He didn’t like the dark when we were driving and he didn’t like being out in places where people weren’t likely to find us if something went wrong.
I’d made sure to pick a well-traveled path so we didn’t have to worry about getting lost or stuck, but there was no way around coming out into the desert with me.
It was just something we were going to have to deal with and there was nothing we could do about it now.
“You ready for this?”
James asked as we stood outside my car.
He nodded toward the horizon, where the desert stretched out into the distance as far as the eye could see.
He’d been looking forward to this trip for a long time and now that we were actually here, I could see how excited he was about it.
I was excited too, but I was also a little bit scared.
We had to drive all the way through the desert to get to our destination and I didn’t know if I was going to be able to handle it or not.
I was used to driving in the city, but I didn’t have much experience outside of that.
I’d been out into the desert a couple of times, but it had always been pretty close to the city where people could find me if something went wrong.
This time was going to be different and I was a little worried about what was going to happen.
But I knew that I would be okay as long as James was there with me.
I nodded my head and made sure to give him a smile as I looked out into the desert.
“I’ve been waiting for this for a long time.”
I didn’t know if I was trying to convince him or myself, but it was true either way.
I’d been dreaming about this trip for years and now that it was finally here, I didn’t know how to handle it.
Desert Drive: A Luxury Adventure
I’d never been one of those good girls who did everything she was told and stayed out of trouble.
My mother had always wanted me to be that way, but I’d had other ideas from the very beginning.
I’d never wanted to be like everyone else or do what I was told, even if it meant getting into trouble sometimes.
That was just how I was and no matter how hard she tried, she could never change me or make me into someone I wasn’t.
I’d always wanted more than just a boring life where I went through the motions and did everything I was told until I died.
I wanted adventure, excitement, and the freedom to do whatever I wanted whenever I wanted to do it, even if it meant making mistakes along the way.
That’s why I’d gone into real estate instead of following my mother into finance or law or one of the other boring careers she thought I should have chosen.
And my stubbornness had served me well over the years.
It had helped me become one of the most successful real estate agents in the city at a very young age and it had helped me make more money than most people would ever see in their lives.
But it didn’t come without its drawbacks.
I’d made a lot of enemies over the years with my no-nonsense attitude and I’d been fighting off their attacks every day since I’d started out on my own.
People were always trying to tell me what to do, but I knew better than to listen to them.
I’d always known that I would have to blaze my own path if I wanted to make something of myself and that’s exactly what I’d done.
There had been a lot of people trying to stop me along the way, but I’d never let them get in my way.
I’d always known what I wanted and I would do whatever I had to do to get it, even if it meant stepping on a few toes in the process.
That’s why I couldn’t wait to get out into the desert and leave all of those stuffy old men behind us for good.
They could say whatever they wanted about me, but I knew that I was better than all of them combined.
I had things that they could only dream of, even if they tried to pretend that they didn’t want them.
I could see the jealousy in their eyes every time they looked at me and I could hear it in their voices when they talked about me behind my back.
They liked to pretend that they were better than me, but I knew that they would never be able to measure up to everything that I’d achieved in my life.
After all, you couldn’t buy class and sophistication, even if you did have more money than you knew what to do with.
You were either born with it or you weren’t and there was nothing you could do about it either way.
But that didn’t mean that you had to put up with their bullshit when they tried to tell you what to do or how to live your life.
I’d never put up with that kind of nonsense from anyone, even if I was supposed to be on my best behavior while we were out here in public.
It wasn’t like anyone was going to see us out here in the middle of nowhere, but I knew that didn’t mean we could let our guard down either.
There were still plenty of people who would love to see us fail and fall on our faces, even when we were miles from home.
Desert Drive: A Luxury Adventure
I’d been dealing with people like that all of my life and I’d learned how to read them like a book.
I knew what they were thinking before they did in most cases and I could see right through them when they tried to put on a show and pretend they were something they weren’t.
It was easy to see through their lies, especially since they were so transparent most of the time.
They liked to think that they could get one over on me, but I would never let them get away with their games.
I was always one step ahead of them, making sure that they would never be able to get one over on me in the first place.
I would do whatever it took to come out on top, even if that meant leaving a few bodies in my wake.
It wasn’t like they didn’t deserve it anyway.
They were always trying to take me down a peg or two and make me feel like I was worthless, even though I knew better than to believe them.
They were just jealous of everything that I’d achieved in my life and they would do whatever they could to make me feel bad about myself.
But they didn’t know me as well as they thought they did.
If there was one thing that no one could ever take away from me, it was the fact that I was always going to be who I was and there was absolutely nothing anyone could do to change that.
That’s why I’d made a name for myself by being true to myself and living life on my own terms, regardless of what anyone else thought about.
I knew a lot of people who would have given anything to have half the things that I did but they would never let anyone see them sweat.
They’d pretend like they didn’t care about those things while still secretly dreaming about what their lives would be like if they did.
But not me; oh no.
I wasn’t going to let anyone tell me who I was or what I was capable of achieving.
That’s why James was the best friend I’d ever had, because he didn’t care about any of those things either.
He liked me for who I was, not what I could give him or do for him and that made all the difference in the world.
So what if he was just another man who didn’t know how good he had it?
He was still mine and he was never going to be able to get away from me.
I was going to hold onto him for dear life no matter what anyone else said or did, even if I had to drag him down into hell with me kicking and screaming in order to do so.
I loved him more than anything in this world and there was absolutely nothing I wouldn’t do to make sure that he stayed by my side forever.
“Are you ready to go yet?”
I called out to him as I stood in front of my car in my little black dress, waiting for him to catch up to me so that we could get on our way.
“Don’t worry, James is going to join us as well,” I added as I saw him coming over to me from across the parking lot, a big grin plastered across his face as he hurried over to me as fast as he could.
Desert Drive: A Luxury Adventure
“Are you trying to give me a heart attack?”
“Of course not,” he replied with a laugh, “but you know how I get when I have to wait too long.”
“I just couldn’t help myself,” he said as he reached me at last, “the desert looks so hot right now that I thought you might need some ice cold water,” he added as he handed me a bottle of water that he had bought at the store.
“I hope you don’t mind that I drank some of it,” he said after handing it to me while looking a little embarrassed by his actions.
“I don’t mind at all,” I replied as I took the bottle of water from him and opened it up before taking a big drink of it while looking around at the desert that stretched out before us, “but if you’re thirsty then you should probably get some more water,” I added after taking a few more drinks of water while trying to forget about what he had just done for me.
“Are you sure this is what you want to do?”
James asked as we waited for him to get back from the store with a big smile on his face.
I could tell that he was happy to be going on this trip with me once again, just like I was.
We’d been planning this trip for weeks now and I was getting antsy to get on the road already.
“I mean, we’ve already been driving for hours now, so I can’t imagine that we have anything else to do once we get there.”
“Don’t be silly,” I told him with a smile, “we’re just going to be driving around in circles, so we might as well be doing something fun while we’re doing it.”
“Don’t look at me like that,” James replied as he looked at me with a grin.
“I know what you’re thinking,” he added as he looked at me with a smile, “but I’m not just going to be standing around here all day.”
“Jesus, don’t scare me like that,” he added, “do you know how hot is today?”
he asked as he wiped his brow.
I could tell that he had been waiting for me to ask that question because he seemed to be really excited about going on this trip with me when I did.
It felt like I had been waiting to go on a joyride through the desert for weeks now.
I had no idea what had gotten into me but I had been getting more and more restless each day since getting my car.
I’d been sitting around doing nothing for days on end but I couldn’t bring myself to go anywhere or do anything else either.
I had so much money saved up in my bank account that I didn’t know what to do with myself.
I was so bored of sitting around my apartment all day long that I had even considered quitting my job in order to find something else to do.
I’d been thinking about getting a pet for some time now but I’d never actually done anything about it before today.
But there was something different about driving around in my car that made me want to go on a trip, something different than what I had ever done before.
“It’s not so bad,” I told him with a smile as I looked at him with a look of pure desperation in my eyes.
Desert Drive: A Luxury Adventure
“It’s better than being stuck in an office all day long, isn’t it?”
“I suppose,” he replied as he looked back at me with a look of resignation on his face.
“I just don’t want to be standing around here all day,” he added, “I mean, what am I supposed to do?”
“Well, we’re going to go on a joyride through the desert,” I told him with a smile as I looked back at him.
“Don’t worry,” I added as I walked over to the car and opened the door.
“We’ll have plenty of time,” I added before getting into the car and starting it up.
As soon as I heard the engine roar to life, I knew that I was going to have a good time.
I was so excited to be driving around in my new car that I could hardly contain myself.
The last thing I wanted to do was wait around all day long before going on this trip.
We had already spent hours driving around and waiting for the car dealership to open so that I could get my new car.
I couldn’t wait any longer.
It felt like I had been waiting forever before finally being able to drive off in my new car.
I had planned this trip out months ago and I had been so excited about getting behind the wheel of my new car that I could hardly contain myself.
It felt like I had been waiting forever before finally being able to drive off in my new car.
I had spent so much money on it that I didn’t want to wait any longer before finally being able to drive off in it.
As soon as we got out of the car dealership, everything seemed to be perfect.
The sun was shining, the sky was blue and there was no one else around but us.
I was so excited about getting my car that I didn’t even notice how hot it was outside or how much time had passed since we had arrived.
It wasn’t until James pointed out how hot it was outside that I realized how long we had actually been waiting before finally being able to get our hands on our new cars.
It wasn’t until after we had both gotten out of our cars that I realized that I had forgotten to ask the salesman something.
I had completely forgotten about it when I got out of the car.
But James had been waiting for me to get out of the car, so he had come back to pick me up after I had gotten out.
James was such a great guy, always there to help me out when I needed it.
He was always willing to do whatever it took to make me happy, even if that meant being late for work in order to come and pick me up from the car dealership.
“I’m sorry,” I said as I looked back at him with a smile.
“It’s not a big deal,” he replied as he looked back at me with a grin.
“Besides,” he added, “it’s not like you’re going to need it anyway.”
“No,” I replied with a smile, “but I’m sure you will.”
Desert Drive: A Luxury Adventure
He laughed and shook his head.
“I don’t think so,” he said with a grin.
“I think you’ll be the one who will need it more than I will.”
“I guess you’re right,” I replied with a smile.
“I guess I will.” Then, we both turned away and walked back towards our cars.
As soon as we got into them and started driving off, I was so excited that I couldn’t stop smiling.
It felt so good to finally have my car and be able to drive off in it whenever I wanted to.
It felt like I had finally made it in life and was on top of the world.
But then, something happened that made me feel like I was falling down a mountain instead of soaring through the clouds.
When I saw the look that was on my mother’s face, I knew that something was wrong.
She was standing there with her hands on her hips and looking at me like I was some sort of crazy person who had lost their mind.
“Mom,” I said as I walked up to her with a smile, “I can’t believe it!”
“It’s so beautiful!”
I exclaimed as I started to show her all of the features on my new car that I had gotten for myself and James to drive to the party in style.
I had bought a brand new sports car that was worth a fortune and she was acting like it was the end of the world.
She didn’t even seem happy at all that I had finally gotten my dream car after all these years.
Instead, she just stood there with a worried look on her face as she listened to me talk about how amazing it was going to be when we got to ride in it for the first time together.
I had even gotten the keys to it earlier that day so that I could get my own insurance on it before driving it home from the car dealership later that night.
“I can’t believe you bought this car,” she said with a frown.
“It’s so expensive and dangerous!”
“It’s not dangerous,” I replied with a frown.
“It’s perfectly safe and reliable.”
“No, it isn’t!”
she exclaimed in a panic.
“It’s not safe at all!
You shouldn’t be driving around in it!
You should have gotten something more practical like an SUV or a minivan or something!”
“But mom,” I said with a frown, “this is what I want!
This is the car that I’ve always dreamed of buying one day and now I finally have the money to do it!”
“No,” she said, “you need to return this car right now!
You don’t need it!
You’re just going to end up getting into an accident and getting hurt!”
“No, I won’t,” I replied with a frown.
“This car is perfectly safe and reliable and I’m going to make sure that nothing happens to it while we’re driving in it tonight!”
Desert Drive: A Luxury Adventure
“Sophia,” she said as she stood there trying to get me to listen to her.
“I’m not going to return the car,” I replied calmly.
“I want this car and I’m going to keep it.
I don’t care what you say.”
“But Sophia,” she said as she tried to get me to see things her way.
“You don’t need this kind of car!
You really should return it before something bad happens!”
“No,” I said calmly as I looked at her with a frown.
“I’m going to keep this car, whether you like it or not.
This is the car that I’ve always wanted and now that I have enough money for it, I’m going to buy this one for myself instead of something more practical.”
“Sophia,” she said as she stood there looking at me with a worried look on her face.
“Please just listen to me!
You’re going to end up getting in a wreck or getting hurt or something!
Please don’t drive that thing around!
It’s not safe!”
“I’ll be fine,” I replied with a frown.
“Don’t worry about me.
I’ll be a perfectly fine driver for my brand new sports car.”
“Sophia,” she said, “please!
Just return the thing!
“I’m not returning the car,” I replied firmly.
“It’s mine now and there’s nothing you can do about it.”
“Fine,” she said with a sigh.
“Do whatever you want.
Just be careful when you’re driving out there tonight.
It can get really dangerous in the desert after dark.”
As soon as she said that, I ran back out into the driveway where James was waiting on me with my new sports car sitting there behind him.
He had already gotten all of my stuff packed away in the backseat and was ready to go when he saw me walking over towards him.
He knew how much this meant to me and how long I had been waiting for this day, so he let me take my time when it came down to saying goodbye to my mom before we left for our trip out into the Mojave Desert together.
My new sports car looked absolutely beautiful sitting there outside in the summer sun.
It was a bright red with black rims and black leather interior that looked absolutely stunning on the outside and felt amazing to sit in on the inside of the car.
The engine also purred like a kitten whenever I started it up while we were still outside, which was always music to my ears whenever I heard the low growl of the powerful machine coming from under the hood of the car.
Desert Drive: A Luxury Adventure
“Are you ready to roll?”
James asked me with a smile while I admired my new car one more time out in the driveway before we left to go out into the desert together for our trip.“Yeah, I’m ready to go,” I told him with a big grin while he opened up the passenger side door and let me get inside the car before closing the door for me and walking around to the other side to get inside, too.“Are you sure you have everything that you need?”
I asked him with an amused look on my face while he pulled out of the driveway and we started driving down the road together towards the desert.
Desert Drive: A Luxury Adventure
“Yeah, you know I like to take charge.” He said with a chuckle.
“That you do.” My eyes scanned the dashboard of my new sports car.
Everything was in order, not that I expected anything less from James.
And also not that I would know what to look for anyway.
“Just don’t crash my car.” I joked.
“Don’t worry, I got this.” He said, smiling over at me as he maneuvered us onto the freeway towards the Mojave Desert.
“Put some music on or something.” He said after a couple minutes of us driving in silence.
“Good idea.” I said, plugging my phone into my car and pulling up some playlists.
I started playing an EDM one and leaning back in my seat, enjoying the music and the feel of the car speeding down the highway.
We’d been driving for about 45 minutes when I first noticed that James had turned off onto some random dirt road in the middle of nowhere.
“Where are we going?”
I asked, looking out the window and noticing nothing but sand all around us.
“Off-roading, of course.” He replied.
“I should’ve known.” I sighed, rolling my eyes and smiling at how predictable his answer was.
“I do what I can to make you happy.” He said, giving me a wink as he started driving faster across the sand.
I laughed, unable to fight off the smile that was tugging at the corners of my lips, and took a picture of the desert surrounding us.
This was going to be a fun day.
“You should put on some more music.” James suggested, glancing over at me with a grin.
I nodded and pulled up another playlist, this one filled with songs that were more suited for a day of off-roading.
Before I knew it, James had the car flying across the sand, and I couldn’t help but feel a rush of adrenaline coursing through my body.
This was so much fun, and I was so glad that I had decided to upgrade the tires on this car before I bought it.
James was driving like a maniac, but the car was handling all of it like a pro, and it made me trust him even more than I already did, which was saying something.
We’d been driving for about 15 minutes when I noticed that one of the warning lights on the dashboard was on.
What does that mean?”
I asked, frowning as I saw that it said low fuel.
James glanced over at me with a sheepish look on his face, and I felt my heart drop into my stomach.
“What do you mean, we don’t have any gas?”
“How much gas do we have left?”
“Not very much.”
“How long until we run out?”
“Not long.” He said, looking out the windshield with a worried expression on his face as he drove faster across the sand.

“What am I supposed to do if we run out of gas?”
I asked, feeling a sense of panic starting to rise up inside me.
“That’s not going to happen.” He said, glancing over at me with a reassuring smile on his face, but it did nothing to help calm me down.
“We’ll be fine.” He said, continuing to drive faster down the road, but that only made me feel even more panicked than I already did.
“How long until we run out of gas?”
“I don’t know.” He said, looking over at me with a frown as he continued to drive faster down the road.
“Then why aren’t you driving slower?”
“I’m trying to get us there before we run out of gas.” He said, giving me a sheepish look as he continued driving faster down the road.
After a few minutes of silence, we finally arrived at our destination, and James parked the car in front of the house that I had rented for the next week.
“How much gas do we have left?”
I asked, looking down at the fuel gauge and seeing that it was almost empty.
James looked down at the gauge and frowned.
I don’t know how this happened.” He said, shaking his head as he looked over at me with a sheepish look on his face.
“What do you mean you don’t know?”
I asked, raising an eyebrow in disbelief as I looked over at him.
I swear it was full when I left the dealership.”
“And you didn’t think to check it before we left?”
“No.” He replied.
“Well, maybe you should’ve.”
He looked down at the fuel gauge and shook his head as he started to get out of the car.
I was the one who parked this car here.” I said, getting out of the car and following him into the house.
I could’ve sworn it was full when I left the dealership.”
“Evidently not.” He said as he walked into the kitchen and opened up the fridge to grab us some drinks.
“Can you check the fuel gauge on your phone?”
I asked, feeling a sense of panic starting to rise up inside of me as I thought about how we might be stranded out here in the middle of nowhere.
James nodded and pulled out his phone before walking out of the house to check how much gas we had left in the car.
A few minutes later, he came back inside and handed me his phone so that I could see for myself just how bad the situation was.
I nearly dropped his phone onto the floor in shock when I saw that we had less than 10 miles of gas left in the tank.
How could this have happened?”
I asked, glancing over at James in disbelief.
“I don’t know.” He replied with a frown.
“I thought they would’ve filled it up before they brought it here.”
“Me too.” I said, shaking my head in disbelief as I remembered passing several gas stations on the way to the dealership earlier today.
