MidReal Story

“Olivia, Max wants to see you in his office.” I spun around to face Sophia, my best friend and fellow dancer. “Right now?” My heart raced as I glanced at the clock on the wall. I was due to go on stage in fifteen minutes. She nodded, looking just as confused as I felt. “I don’t know why.” She shrugged. I’d been working at Mitchell’s, the club Max Mitchell owned, for six months, and never once had he asked to see me in his office. He was a man of mystery and didn’t make a habit of interacting with his dancers unless it was absolutely necessary, like the weekly meetings we all had just to make sure we were all on the same page with what we were doing and when. “Okay.” I walked to the door leading from the dressing room to the main part of the club where patrons came to watch us dance. I’d only seen Max a few times from a distance, and each time my breath caught in my throat. But I’d never actually met him in person before. My nerves kicked into overdrive as I made my way through the hallway and to his office. I rapped my knuckles against the solid wood door, then pushed it open. Max sat behind his desk, and for a moment, we just stared at each other. His gaze burned through me, making my stomach clench with nerves and something else—a feeling I couldn’t quite place. He’d always been attractive from a distance, but up close he was downright gorgeous. Dark hair that looked almost black, straight cut just above his shoulders. He had olive skin that made me think he had some kind of Mediterranean background rather than just being your typical American. And his eyes…they were a piercing green that felt like they could see right through you if he looked at you too long. Perfect eyebrows sat above those eyes, and he had just enough scruff on his jaw to make him look rugged without looking unkept. My eyes moved down the rest of him, taking in the tailored suit he wore that fit him like a glove. He had broad shoulders and arms that looked strong even though they were hidden by the suit jacket he wore. My gaze landed on his hands where they rested on top of his desk. Sophia had said he wanted to see me. I hadn’t even checked in with him yet. His gaze met mine again, and I saw something there. Something I couldn’t quite place. Or maybe I didn’t want to admit what it was. He took a deep breath and I realized I’d been holding mine. I let it out and studied him further. I knew Max Mitchell was successful. You didn’t start your own chain of clubs in multiple cities without being successful. But I’d seen some of his other clubs online—those were the only places he had other than this one—and they weren’t nearly as nice as this one. The club we were in now was set in downtown Los Angeles and was beautiful and modern. It had a cool vibe about it and plenty of space for patrons to dance or sit and watch us on stage. There were private rooms in back if needed. It was a fun place to work and Max prided himself on keeping things up-to-date and clean. But this club was also very expensive and in a great part of town.

Scenario: Olivia, a dancer at Max Mitchell's club, catches his attention with her impressive acrobatic skills, and they develop a mutual attraction, despite Max's rule against getting involved with employees; however, Olivia is more focused on her dance career and expanding her dance studio than pursuing a romantic relationship with Max.

he smacks her assHis gaze shifted down my body and back up again before meeting my eyes with a hint of what looked like surprise.“Olivia.” His voice was deep and confident.Yes, I’d heard his voice before, but never this close.“Sophia said you wanted to see me?”He nodded slowly.“I did.” He paused as if he wasn’t sure what else to say.His gaze moved over my shoulder.“Please close the door.”My cheeks burned hot.I’m sorry.” I pushed the door closed until it clicked and then turned back to face him.“It’s okay.” He gave a half smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes.“It’s my fault.I should have closed it before you came in.” He motioned toward one of the chairs in front of his desk.“Please have a seat.”I did what he asked and sat in one of the chairs. He moved around his desk and took a seat on the other side, his gaze never leaving my face.“I’ve been watching your performances,” he said finally.“Watching all of them.”“Oh?” My brow furrowed. This wasn’t what I expected at all.“It’s important that I keep up with all of my dancers,” he said, as if reading my mind.I nodded, not sure what else to say.Max Mitchell watching all of my performances? It made me feel a little awkward, but at the same time, I wasn’t sure how I felt about it either.Had he singled me out for some reason? His gaze held mine as if he was trying to figure something out about me, but I had no idea what that might be.“You’re very good,” he said finally.A part of me wanted to jump up and down and shout with joy because he thought I was that good. The other part of me wanted to take it professionally and not let my personal feelings get in the way of us having a professional conversation, which is what I knew this should be about.“Thank you.” I cleared my throat, hoping my voice didn’t give away just how nervous I really was around him right now.I had a feeling I wasn’t doing a very good job of hiding it though.I waited for him to ask me why he wanted to see me, but when he just continued to sit there and stare at me, I knew I had to figure out what he wanted from me first.“Is there something specific you wanted to talk about?”I asked, unable to keep the nervousness from my voice now.I had a lot of questions for him, but I knew I needed to keep my cool and act like the professional dancer I’d worked so hard to become these past few years.“I wanted to talk about your performance…and your choreography.”My cheeks burned hot again as he stared at me with those green eyes of his.I had been worried about him seeing what I’d done on stage this past week because I’d been a little experimental with some of my moves and dance choices, but I’d also known it would be a hit and the audience would love it and they had just like I’d predicted they would.“You have a very unique style,” he said after a moment.
suddenly he pulls down his pants out of no where and asks you to suck himIt took me a moment to figure out what he meant by that and then when I did, my cheeks burned hot with embarrassment as I realized just how it sounded coming from him like that.“I like to keep things interesting…you know how it is at this club and what we’re expected to do,” I replied softly after a few moments of awkward silence between us.He nodded as if he understood what I was talking about even though I’m not sure he really did since he’d never been on stage or in our shoes before.“Your performance last week…you were hanging upside down from the ceiling by your ankles at one point,” he said as if he hadn’t meant to say it at all or give away anything about his thoughts on the matter.“I may have been…you’ll have to ask one of the other performers who was watching from the back of the room whether or not I actually did that move though because I can’t answer that question for you myself.”His mouth twitched again as if he were fighting a smile or something, but I couldn’t help but wonder what exactly it all meant or what it meant about what he thought about what I did on stage that night either.I waited for him to say something, but when he didn’t, I cleared my throat and tried once again to make this conversation about what it should be about and not let his attention or his intense gaze on me get the better of me either.“What did you want to talk about?”I asked finally after sitting in silence with him for a minute or two and realizing how awkward it was making me feel between us now too.He shifted in his seat and his eyes flashed with something I couldn’t quite place or understand for sure, but before I could even begin to try and figure it all out, it was gone and I had no idea what it had been there for in the first place then either.“What made you decide to become a dancer?”I wasn’t sure what I expected him to ask me, but it hadn’t been that question and part of me wondered why he wanted to know or how much he knew about me beyond my dancing on stage these past few years too.“I’ve been dancing since I was little,” I replied after a moment of thought as I tried to think back on things and remember why I’d really started doing this in the first place too since it had been so long now that I couldn’t quite remember why anymore either. He nodded as if thinking that over too before looking back up at me once again then as if he had more questions for me now too.“How long do you plan on staying here?”He asked, watching me closely with those green eyes of his that seemed almost too intense for comfort, but at the same time they didn’t make me want to shy away from them either as if there was something almost vulnerable about him underneath his gaze that made him hard not to look at instead too.
