I was falling.
The wind whipped my hair around my face, and I could barely see through the tears that streamed from my eyes.
I’d been in free fall for what felt like hours, but it had probably only been a few minutes.
My body was numb with cold, and I couldn’t feel my fingers or toes.
I’d lost all sense of time and direction, and I had no idea how much longer I would be falling.
I was going to die here, alone in the void of space.
It was a fitting end for someone like me.
A failure.
A disappointment.
Chapter 1
The air rushed past me, and I closed my eyes, waiting for the inevitable.
I’d always known that this was how it would end.
That I would fall and keep falling until I disappeared into the darkness.
I thought about my friends, Jasper and Mia, and wondered if they were still alive.
If they were still out there somewhere, waiting for me to come back.
I hoped they were.
I hoped that they had found a way to survive without me.
There was so much I wanted to say to them, so many things I wished I’d done differently.
But it was too late now.
It was all over.
Convergence: A Time Traveler's Dilemma
As the wind howled around me, I braced myself for the end, but it never came.
All I could hear was the sound of my own breath and heartbeat as I fell further and further into the void.
There was no one to save me, no one to catch me before I hit the ground.
I was all alone out here in the darkness, and there was nothing I could do to change that.
The fall seemed to go on forever, and I wondered if it would ever end.
I was so tired, so cold, and I just wanted it to be over already.
If I closed my eyes and let myself go, would it hurt?
Would it even matter?
Convergence: A Time Traveler's Dilemma
Just as I was about to give up and let myself fall, a jolt of pain shot through me, and everything went black.
When I woke up again, I was lying on the ground with my face pressed into something soft and damp.
My whole body ached, and I could barely catch my breath.
I tried to open my eyes, but they felt like they were glued shut.
I forced them open and blinked against the bright light that surrounded me.
The world spun around me for a moment before finally coming into focus.
I was lying on solid ground with my arms pinned to my sides and my legs tangled together in front of me.

Convergence: A Time Traveler's Dilemma
I was lying on solid ground with my arms pinned to my sides and my legs tangled together in front of me.
The weight of my body pressed down on me, and I felt the ground beneath me shift and give way as I tried to move.
My arms and legs were heavy and unresponsive, and I had no idea where I was or how I’d gotten here.
I tried to sit up, but the world spun around me, and I collapsed back onto the ground with a groan.
I lay there for a moment, trying to catch my breath as the pain washed over me in waves.
My whole body hurt, and I could barely move without feeling like I was going to throw up.
