I traded with the devil for a girl.
I made a deal with the devil.
It was the only way to save her.
The only way to save Lilith Monroe from whatever fate had in store for her.
I didn’t know what it was, but I knew it was bad.
I could feel it in my bones, and I’d do anything to keep her safe.
Even if it meant making a deal with the devil himself.
I’d heard the stories about him, of course.
Everyone had, but I never thought I’d be desperate enough to seek him out.
But here I was, standing in front of him, ready to make a deal that would change my life forever.
He looked me up and down, his dark eyes lingering on my face for a moment before he spoke.
“And what can I do for you?”
he asked, his voice smooth as silk.
“I need your help,” I said, my voice barely above a whisper.
He raised an eyebrow at me, and I could tell he was amused by my request.
“Everyone needs my help,” he said with a smirk.
The object of my desperation sat at the end of the room, a tall, imposing figure that was impossible to ignore.
Even in a bar full of dangerous and powerful men, he stood out.
He was the kind of man that people avoided making eye contact with, the kind of man that made others nervous just being in the same room.
And for good reason.
Damien Thorne was one of the most powerful men in the world, and he’d stop at nothing to get what he wanted.
He was also the devil, walking among mortals in a guise that hid his true nature from prying eyes.
But I knew who he really was, and I knew that he’d be able to help me.
I just had to make sure I paid the price.
I took a deep breath and started walking toward him, my heart pounding in my chest as I got closer and closer.
I’d heard the stories, of course, the whispers that spread through the city like wildfire about those who had sought out Thorne for their own selfish desires.
But I wasn’t like them.
I was here for one reason and one reason only: to save Lilith Monroe from whatever fate awaited her.
I didn’t know what it was, but I could feel it in my bones that it was something unspeakable, something that would destroy her.
And I would do anything to prevent it.
My hands shook as I pushed open the door to his office and stepped inside, closing it behind me before I could lose my nerve.
Damien Thorne looked up from his desk, his dark eyes narrowing as he took in my appearance.
He raised an eyebrow at me, but said nothing as he waited for me to speak.
“I want to make a deal with you,” I said.
He leaned back in his chair and steepled his fingers in front of him, his eyes never leaving mine.
“What kind of deal?”
“Whatever it takes,” I said.
Damien Thorne smiled at me then, a cold, cruel smile that sent a shiver down my spine.
Lilith Monroe
I stepped into the dimly lit bar and looked around me.
It was the kind of place where people came to lose themselves to the music and forget about their worries, but there was something about it that made me uneasy.
There were too many people here, too many eyes on me as I moved through the crowd and made my way to the bar.
I ordered a drink and took a seat on one of the empty barstools.
The bartender set my drink down in front of me and walked away without saying a word.
I took a sip and turned my gaze to the end of the room.
That was when I saw him.
He was sitting at a table by himself, a glass of whiskey in front of him as he watched me with cold, dark eyes.
Even without knowing who he was, his presence alone was enough to make my blood run cold.
But I did know who he was.
Or rather, what he was.

And I knew why he was here.
I could feel the eyes of the other patrons on me as I made my way through the bar.
They watched me like a pack of hungry wolves stalking their prey, and in a sense, they were.
They could sense my desperation, could smell it on me like blood in the water.
It was etched into every line of my face, from the dark circles under my eyes to the way my hands shook as I pushed open the door and stepped inside.
I knew I stood out among the patrons.
Where most of them were rough around the edges and dressed in dirty clothes that smelled of sweat and stale beer, I was clean-cut and well-dressed.
But despite my appearance, I knew that I was no different from them.
We were all here for the same reason: we had something we needed from him, and we were willing to pay whatever price he demanded to get it.
I made my way to the bar and ordered a whiskey neat before turning to face him.
He was sitting at a table by himself, a glass of whiskey in his hand as he watched me with cold, dark eyes.
My heart skipped a beat as I met his gaze, and I had to force myself to take a deep breath before I approached him.
I didn’t know what would happen when I asked him for what I needed, but I knew that I needed to be prepared for anything.
I took a long sip of my drink and steeled myself for what was to come before I made my way across the room and stopped in front of his table.
He looked up at me as I came closer, and his lips curled into a smile as he set his glass down on the table in front of him.
“You came,” he said, his voice smooth as silk.
I nodded, unable to speak past the lump in my throat.
“I did,” I replied after a moment, my voice barely above a whisper.
“Do you have what I need?”
He raised an eyebrow at me and leaned back in his chair, steepling his fingers in front of his face as he studied me for a moment longer.
“I might,” he said at last, his voice low and smooth as he spoke.
“But first, I need to know why you’re here.”
I hesitated for a moment before I replied, unsure of how much I should tell him.
But the look in his eyes told me that he already knew more than I wanted him to, and that there was no point in trying to hide it from him any longer.
“I need your help,” I said at last, my voice barely above a whisper.
He smiled at me then, a cold, cruel smile that made my blood run cold as he leaned forward and rested his elbows on the table in front of him.
“And what makes you think that I can help you?”
he asked, his voice smooth and low as he spoke.
I met his gaze and held it there, refusing to look away as I spoke.
“I heard that you could grant people their deepest desires,” I said, my voice steady despite the way my heart was pounding in my chest.
“I need you to save her,” I said after a moment, the words catching in my throat as I spoke them.

“Of all the things you could ask for,” he said as he looked up at me with an amused smile.
“Of all the things in this world that you could have me give you, that’s what you want?
I nodded, my heart pounding in my chest as I met his gaze and held it there, refusing to look away even though every instinct in my body was screaming at me to run.
I had heard the stories about him; about the way he would grant people their deepest wishes only to turn them against them later on when they least expected it.
But I was willing to take that risk if it meant saving her from whatever fate awaited her.
“Why does she matter so much to you?”
he asked after a moment, his voice low and smooth as he spoke.
“Why are you willing to give up so much just to save her life?”
“She’s…” I started to say before I cut myself off and shook my head, unsure of how much I should tell him.
“She’s important to me,” I said instead, hoping that would be enough for him for now and that he wouldn’t press me for further details about it.
“Enough that you would be willing to make a deal with the devil himself just to save her life?”
“Yes,” I said, my voice steady even though my hands were shaking so badly that I had to clench them into fists to keep him from seeing it.
He studied me for a long moment before a slow, cold smile spread across his face and I felt a shiver run down my spine.
“All right then,” he said after a moment, his voice smooth and low as he spoke.
“If you’re willing to pay the price, I can help you.
But be warned, boy: dealing with the devil always comes with a price.
And when you come to collect, you may not like what you find.”
I hesitated for a moment longer before I nodded, and I felt my heart sink into my stomach.
But if it came down to it, I was willing to pay any price just to save her.
Even if it meant losing myself in the process.
“Then let’s make a deal,” I said, my voice barely above a whisper as I spoke.
He studied me for a long moment before a slow, cruel smile spread across his face and I knew that there was no turning back now.
“All right then,” he said after a moment, his voice smooth and low as he spoke.
“If you’re sure that this is what you want.”
I met his gaze and held it there, refusing to look away even though every instinct in my body was telling me that I was making a terrible mistake.
He smiled at me and raised an eyebrow, and I knew that I had made my choice.
“Then let’s make a deal,” he said, and I felt my heart sink into my stomach even harder than before.
But if it came down to it, I was willing to pay any price just to save her.
“Do we have a deal?”
“Yes,” I said, and I knew that my life would never be the same again.
Because when you made a deal with the devil, you were bound by it in blood.
