I am Shango orisha of thunder and lightning
I was in the middle of a storm when I felt it.
The rain was coming down in sheets, and the wind was howling like a banshee.
I could hear the thunder rumbling in the distance, and I knew that soon, lightning would follow.
It was a violent storm, one that had come out of nowhere.
One minute the sky had been clear, and the next, it was filled with dark clouds that seemed to stretch on forever.
The storm was so fierce that most people were running for cover, seeking shelter from the rain and wind.
But not me.
I stood in the middle of the street, letting the rain wash over me as I closed my eyes and reached out with my senses.
I could feel the energy of the wind and rain, the way it moved and flowed through the city.
I could feel the power of the storm building, growing stronger with each passing second.
It was a familiar feeling, one that I had known for as long as I could remember.
And yet, there was something different about this storm.
Something that I couldn’t quite put my finger on.
It wasn’t just the intensity of the wind and rain, though that was certainly part of it.
No, there was something else, something deeper, something…alien.
I opened my eyes and looked up at the sky, at the dark clouds that swirled overhead like a living thing.
The rain was falling so hard that it seemed like a solid wall of water, obscuring everything beyond a few feet in front of me.

The wind howled through the streets, shaking the buildings and sending debris flying through the air.
The storm was unlike anything I had ever experienced here in New York City, and I had lived here for a very long time.
It didn’t belong here, not in this world or any other that I knew of.
And yet here it was, raging across the city like some kind of wild beast.
I closed my eyes again and let the storm wash over me, reaching out with my senses to feel the power of the wind and rain as it moved through the city.
The storm was strong, stronger than any I had ever experienced before, but it wasn’t just the power of the elements that I felt.
There was something else there too, something hidden beneath the surface of the storm itself.

I frowned and reached out with my senses, trying to get a better sense of what I was feeling.
The energy of the storm was familiar to me, like an old friend that I hadn’t seen in a long time.
But this…this was different.
It felt strange to me, wrong somehow.
It didn’t fit with the patterns of natural phenomena that I knew so well, and it was disrupting the flow of energy through the city.
It was like a stone thrown into a still pond, sending ripples through the water in all directions.
I reached out with my senses again, trying to get a better sense of what I was feeling.

And then, without warning, a bolt of lightning struck very close to where I was standing, just on the other side of the street.
The force of the blast sent me stumbling backward several steps, but I managed to keep my feet and stay on my feet as I peered through the rain to see who—or what—had caught my attention.
And there they were.
Two figures stood on the other side of the street, watching me with curious expressions.
One was tall and slender with flowing hair that mimicked storm clouds as it swirled around her head like an angry sea.

The other was small and agile, crouched down beside her and looking up at me with mischief in his eyes.
"Shango!" the woman called out to me.
"What are you doing out here in this weather? You’ll catch your death of cold!"
I smiled at her as she stepped out of the shadows and into the rain.
"I will not die from this storm," I told her.
"It is not the rain or the wind that brought me here."
She cocked an eyebrow at me as she stepped closer.
"Then what is it?"
She asked.
I reached out to her and took her hand in mine as I turned my attention back to the storm.

"The storm is out of balance," I said.
"And there is something…unnatural about it."
I could feel her stiffen beside me.
"What do you mean?"
She asked.
I turned to look at her as I spoke.
"The energy of the storm is wrong," I said.
"It is not the thunder and the lightning and the rain, as it should be. It is something…else."
"Something else?"
She asked.
"Yes," I said as I turned back to the storm.
I could feel my hands tingling with power as the energy of the storm surged through me.
"It is as if there is something within the storm, something that does not belong. Something…foreign."
"Foreign?"
She repeated.
I nodded as I turned to face her.
"Yes," I said.
"And it must be removed before it upsets the balance of the storm any further."
She cocked an eyebrow at me as she stepped closer and placed her hand on my chest.
"Are you sure?"
She asked.
I nodded as I took her hand in mine.
"I am sure," I said.
"There is something here, something that should not be here. Something…dangerous."
"Then we must find out what it is and destroy it," she said.
I nodded as I turned to look at the storm once more.
"Yes," I said.
