Knuckles the Echidna
guardian of the Master Emerald, ally of Sonic and Tails, red echidna with spiked knuckles, strong and sometimes gullible.
Miles "Tails" Prower
loyal friend and mechanic, friend of Sonic, two tailed fox with goggles, intelligent and supportive.
It was a beautiful day in Mobius.
The sun was shining, the birds were singing, and I was running at top speed.
I had just finished another adventure with my friends Tails and Knuckles, and I was feeling pretty good about myself.
I had saved the day once again, and everything was right with the world.
As I ran through the Green Hill Zone, I couldn’t help but smile.
I loved being a hero, and I loved going on adventures with my friends.
It was what I lived for.
As I ran, I thought about all the other adventures we had been on together.
We had fought robots, saved princesses, and even traveled through time.
It had been an amazing journey so far, and I couldn’t wait to see what the future held for us.
But little did I know that my life was about to take a very unexpected turn.
As I ran through the Green Hill Zone, something strange happened.
I woke up to the sound of birds chirping.
I groaned and blinked a few times, trying to get my bearings.
My head was pounding, and I felt like I had just been hit by a truck.
I tried to sit up, but something was wrong.
I felt…different.
I couldn’t quite put my finger on it, but something about me was not quite right.
As I tried to stand up, I realized what it was.
My body was different.
It was much bigger than it used to be, and my limbs felt longer and heavier than usual.
I looked down at myself, expecting to see my usual blue fur, but that’s not what I saw at all.
Instead, I saw a pair of large, pudgy hands.
I stared at them in disbelief, unable to comprehend what was happening.
What had happened to me?
Where was I?
I tried to stand up again, but my body felt heavy and sluggish.
My head was spinning, and I could barely see straight.
What was going on?
Where was I?
I took a deep breath and tried to calm down, but panic was starting to set in.
Why were my hands so big?
And why did they have five fingers instead of the usual four?
This couldn’t be happening.
This had to be some kind of nightmare.
But no matter how hard I pinched myself, I couldn’t wake up.
Something was seriously wrong, and I had no idea what to do about it.
I tried to remember what had happened before I woke up here, but my mind was completely blank.
All I could remember was running through the Green Hill Zone, and then…
And then nothing.
Had something happened to me while I was running?
Had I been attacked?
Kidnapped?
My heart was racing, and I could feel the panic rising up inside me.
Gritting my teeth, I forced myself to focus.
This wasn’t going to help anything.
I needed to get a grip on myself and figure out what was going on.
I looked around, trying to get my bearings and make sense of my surroundings.
I didn’t recognize this place at all, but something about it seemed oddly familiar.
There were lush green hills as far as the eye could see, and a bright blue sky overhead.
It looked like the Green Hill Zone, but somehow different.
Something was not quite right here.
But what?
I scanned the area for any signs that could tell me where I was or how I got here, but there was nothing.
Nothing except for a small puddle of water a few feet away from me.
I stumbled over to it and peered into its murky depths, hoping for some kind of clue as to what was happening to me.
My reflection stared back at me, but it wasn’t me.
Gone were my sleek blue fur, my white gloves, and my red shoes.
In their place stood an entirely different character.
He had a distinctive orange hue, a large mouth, a noticeable potbelly, long thin arms, shaggy fur, a small tail, and round yellow eyes.
He was a cat, but he didn’t look like any cat I had ever seen before.
He certainly didn’t look like me.
But somehow, I knew this was my reflection.
A reflection of the new me.
For a long moment, I just stood there, staring at my reflection in shock.
This couldn’t be happening.
It didn’t make any sense.
And yet, there it was.
My reflection stared back at me from the puddle, mocking me.
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, willing myself to wake up from this nightmare.
But when I opened them again, nothing had changed.
I was still staring at the same reflection.
The cat version of me.
This couldn’t be happening.
This couldn’t be real.
But it was.
As the full weight of this realization settled in, I stumbled back from the puddle in shock.
How could this have happened?
What had caused it?
And more importantly, how could I change back?
Just thinking about it made my head hurt even more than it already did.
But I didn’t have time to worry about that right now.
I needed to figure out what was going on and how to fix it.
And fast.
But first thing first…
How did this even happen?
What could have possibly caused me to wake up as Big the Cat?
It didn’t make any sense!
It wasn’t just a bad dream!
What could have caused this?
Did Eggman do this to me?
No, it’s impossible!
There’s no way he could do this to me!
Maybe this is just temporary!
I’m sure Tails will come up with something to help me!
He’s really smart!
Yeah… That’s right… Tails will help me!
Tails will help me get back to normal!
I whimpered a bit and rubbed my eyes before looking at the puddle again.
But I still saw that I’m Big the Cat…
I’m really Big the Cat…

The more I said it, the more real it became to me…
I’m really Big the Cat…

I couldn’t deny it anymore…
This is reality…
And now I will have to live with it…
I don’t want to be Big the Cat…
It’s not that I don’t like him… It’s just that he is a whole another person!
Of course I don’t want to be someone else…
Let alone someone that isn’t even a hero like me!
As I shook my head and tried to calm myself down, I thought that maybe this is just a dream and that I’ll wake up soon…
But no matter how much I tried, it wouldn’t come out true…
And as I started to feel panic rising inside of me, I took a deep breath and tried something out of desperation.
Come on, get yourself together, Sonic!
It’s just a dream!
You can wake up from it if you just try hard enough!
You can do this!
You can do this!
You can do this!
You can do this!
But no matter how hard I tried, nothing happened…
I couldn’t understand why though…
It has always worked in the past…
As I shook my head in confusion and frustration, I realized that this was not a dream…
It didn’t matter how hard I wished for it to be one either as what’s done is done.
Just then, the memories of last night came back to me.
Tails and Knuckles told me that they will find the cause of this and find a way to reverse it.
They said that they will call me once they get any results or when they are ready to meet up again so that we can try stuff out together.
And now I am Big the Cat when I woke up…
What if Tails and Knuckles are like me too?
I need to find them first!
Maybe they have already woken up like me and maybe they have found a cure already!
If they haven’t then we can try stuff again like they said too!
Either way I need to meet up with them!
They can help me sort through this chaos in my mind!
As I felt a glimmer of hope shining inside of me again, I took a deep breath and told myself that it’s going to be okay and that I will be able to get through this with the help of my friends!
That’s right!
I’ll be able to get through this with the help of my friends!
As soon as I thought that I started walking towards where we agreed to meet each other yesterday.
But I quickly realized that it wasn’t going to be easy at all…
This time though it wasn’t because that place is far away from where I am right now…
I mean it is a bit far but not that much…
But the problem is that I’m Big the Cat right now…
And it’s really hard for me to move around in this body…
I knew that Big is a bit slow but I didn’t know he was this slow!
It’s like every step I take feels like a struggle and like I’m trying to carry a 100 kg weight on one of my legs while trying to walk!
