I was granted an immediate release from the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs and I was on my way home to the Gold Coast Titans.
I was excited, but I had a lot of work to do.
The Titans were in a bad way and I was going to have to work my arse off to get them back into the top eight.
I had a lot of faith in myself and I knew that if I could get my head in the game, I could do it.
I’d been playing well at the Bulldogs, but they had a lot of talent in their team and it was hard for me to stand out.
I was going to have to make sure that I did everything right when I got back home.
I didn’t want to let anyone down and I didn’t want them to think that they’d made a mistake by signing me on.
I knew that if I worked hard enough, I could do it.
I just had to believe in myself and give it everything that I had.
When I arrived at the Gold Coast airport, Jamal Fogarty was there waiting for me.
“Hey, bro,” he said, pulling me into a hug.
“Welcome back to the GC.”
“Good to be home.”
I was grinning from ear to ear, but I was also super nervous.
I knew that I had a lot of work to do and I was determined to get it done.
I was going to do whatever it took to get the Titans back into the top eight.
I knew that it wasn’t going to be easy, but I was up for the challenge.
I just hoped that the rest of the team was as well.
I really wanted to see them win, but they were going to have to put in the effort if they wanted to make it happen.
Jamal and I chatted the whole way back to my place and he filled me in on how everything had been going since I’d been gone.
The Titans hadn’t been having a great season and they were really struggling.
The boys were hoping that I could help them turn things around and get them into the top eight for the first time in years.
I knew that it wasn’t going to be easy, but I was willing to give it my best shot.
When we got back to my apartment, I quickly packed up all of my things so that we could get on the road.
It was going to be a long drive back up to the Gold Coast and I wanted to make sure that we got there in time for me to catch up with everyone before training started the next day.
As I packed up my things, I couldn’t help but think about all of the great times that I’d had while living in Belmore.
I’d made some really good friends at the Bulldogs and I was going to miss them all terribly.
Adam Elliott had been one of my closest friends while I’d been there and I knew that I was going to miss him like crazy.
He was such a nice guy and he’d always had my back no matter what.
He’d been really supportive of me when I’d decided to move back home and I knew that he was happy for me.
Dallin Watene-Zelezniak had also become one of my closest friends while I’d been playing at the Bulldogs.
We were both really young and we had a lot in common, so we’d hit it off right away.
He was an amazing player and he’d taught me so much about how to play at this level.
I knew that I was going to miss him as well and I just hoped that we’d be able to keep in touch after I moved back home to the Gold Coast.
Before long, I had all of my things packed up and ready to go, so Jamal and I got into his car and headed back up the coast.
It took us a few hours to get there, but we finally made it back to Cbus Super Stadium just in time for dinner.
The coach had organised for us all to have a team dinner together so that they could welcome me back and say goodbye to the players that were leaving.

I’d been gone for so long, but I’d finally made my way back home and I knew that this was where I belonged.
My heart was pounding in my chest as I got off the plane and made my way through the airport.
I was so happy to be home that I didn’t know what to do with myself.
It had been a long time since I’d been this happy and I was absolutely thrilled to be finally coming home.
After spending the last few years playing for the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs, I’d finally decided to make the move back to the Gold Coast Titans.
It was a hard decision to make, but in the end, I knew that it was the right one for me.
I wanted to prove myself at the Titans and I was willing to do whatever it took to get them into the top eight.
I knew that I was going to have to work extra hard to get there, but I was ready for the challenge and I was going to do whatever it took to make sure that I succeeded.
As I made my way through the airport, my eyes fell on the Gold Coast Titans logo and a smile lit up my face.
It was a simple design, but it held so much meaning for me.
It reminded me of everything that I’d gone through to get here and all of the hard work that still lay ahead of me.
It was a reminder that anything was possible if you were willing to put in the effort and work for it.
It reminded me of what I was capable of and how much I wanted to succeed.
My heart swelled with pride as I saw the logo hanging above the entrance to the airport and I knew that I was finally home.
As soon as I saw Jamal waiting for me outside of the airport, I couldn’t help but run over to him and give him a big hug.
He’d been such a great friend to me over the years, and even though we hadn’t seen each other in a long time, he still meant everything to me.
“Hey, bro,” he said with a smile.
“Good to see you.”
“It’s so good to see you too,” I replied, giving him another hug before pulling away and grinning at him like an idiot.
“I can’t believe that you’re finally back here on the Gold Coast with us.”
“I know,” he said with a laugh.
“I’ve missed you heaps.”
“I’ve missed you too.”
Jamal and I had been good friends for as long as I could remember.
We’d grown up together on the Gold Coast and we’d both played footy here when we were kids.
He was a few years older than me, but we’d always been really close and we’d always looked out for each other.
When I’d first joined the Titans, he’d taken me under his wing and he’d shown me the ropes.
He’d taught me everything that he knew about playing at this level and he’d helped me to become a better player.
He’d always been there for me when I needed him and he’d always had my back no matter what.
He was like an older brother to me and I was so happy to see him again after all these years away.
I’d missed him like crazy while I’d been gone and it was really good to be back home with him again.
“Are you ready to do this?”
he asked once we’d calmed down a bit.
“Yeah,” I replied, giving him a determined look.
“I’m going to do whatever it takes to turn things around for the Titans.”

“I’m really glad that you’re back with us again, bro.”
“I’m glad to be back too,” I said, smiling at him.
“It’s going to be so good to play alongside you again.”
Jamal had been made the captain of the Titans while I’d been away at the Bulldogs and I couldn’t think of anyone more deserving of the role.
He was such an amazing player and he was such an incredible leader that it made perfect sense to give him the job.
I was so proud of him for how far he’d come over the past few years and I was grateful that he’d been there to look after the team while I’d been gone.
“I’m just trying to do my best with the job,” he said, looking a little embarrassed by my praise.
“It means so much to me that Holbrook has put his faith in me like this and I just want to make sure that I’m doing everything that I can to help the boys out.”
“Of course you do,” I said with a smile.
“You’re an amazing captain and an even better friend.”
Jamal grinned at me and gave me another hug, and I hugged him back as tight as I could.
I was just so happy to be standing here with him, talking about how we were going to take on the world together.
“I’m so grateful for everything that Holbrook has done for me over the past few years,” Jamal said once we’d pulled away from each other.
“He’s really helped me to become the player and the person that I am today, and I’ll always be grateful to him for that.”
“I’m sure he feels the same way about you too,” I replied with a smile.
“He’s done such an amazing job with all of us, and we’re all so lucky to have him as our coach.”
“I totally agree,” Jamal said with a nod.
“We’re all really lucky to have you on our team too, bro.I know things didn’t go as well as you would have liked them to down in Sydney, but I also know how hard you’ve worked over the past couple of years, and I know how much you want this.
I felt a lump form in my throat as Jamal spoke, but I quickly swallowed it down.
“It means a lot to me that you believe in me like that,” I said with a small smile.
“I really want to do well for this team, and I’m going to do whatever it takes to help us get back on top again.”
“I know you will,” Jamal replied.
“You’re an amazing player, and you’ve got so much talent.
I know that you can do whatever you set your mind to, and I’m really excited to see what you can do out on the field again.”
As soon as Jamal said this, I felt a surge of excitement run through my entire body.
It was the same feeling that I always got when I thought about playing footy.
It was the same feeling that had always driven me to work harder and be better.
It was the same feeling that had brought me back here to the Gold Coast in the first place.
The Titans were struggling this year, but they weren’t out of finals contention just yet.
