Comedy: A man who doesn't hear well goes to buy a pair of shoes
Henry Johnson walked into the shoe store and sat down in the first chair he saw.
He had been coming to this store for years, and he was friends with the owner, Sarah Jennings.
She was a very attractive woman with long brown hair and a great sense of humor.
She was also very patient with Henry, who had difficulty hearing.
He had been losing his hearing for years, and he now wore hearing aids in both ears.
He could hear most things, but sometimes he had trouble understanding what people were saying, especially if there was a lot of background noise.
Sarah came over to him and said something that Henry didn’t quite catch.
“Good morning, Sarah,” Henry said.
“How are you today?”
Sarah asked him as she sat down across from him.
“I’m fine,” Henry replied.
“Just looking for a new pair of shoes.”
“What size do you wear?”
“An eleven and a half,” Henry replied.
Sarah came back and sat down in the chair across from him.
“Great,” Sarah said as she took his foot in her hand and placed it on the measuring device.
Henry looked at Sarah and smiled.
She looked at him and smiled back.
He was a good-looking man with short gray hair, and he had a nice smile.
He was also very charming and witty.
He had a way of making people feel comfortable, even when they didn’t know what he was saying.
Sarah had known Henry for years, and she liked him a lot.
She liked how he was always smiling and joking around, even when things weren’t going his way.
He was a good guy, and she always enjoyed talking to him.
She took his foot out of the measuring device and went to get a box of shoes in his size.
A few minutes later, she came back and sat down across from him again.
“How was your day?”
she asked him with a smile.
“It was good,” Henry replied with a smile.
“I spent most of the day watching TV.”
“That sounds like fun,” Sarah said as she opened the box and took out a new pair of shoes for Henry to try on.
“It was,” Henry replied with a smile as he put on the new shoes.
“I watched a couple of movies, and I even managed to catch up on my favorite shows.”
“That’s great,” Sarah said as she watched Henry lace up his new shoes.
“It was nice to have some time to relax.”
“I bet it was,” Sarah said with a smile.
“Are you going to be busy for the rest of the day?”
“No, I don’t think so,” Henry replied with a smile.
“I’m not doing anything right now.”
“Do you want to hang out?”
Sarah asked him with a smile.
“I’d love to,” Henry replied with a smile as he got up from his chair.
“I always have more fun when I’m with you.”
Sarah looked at Henry and smiled.
They had been friends for years, and she liked spending time with him.
She liked how he was always smiling and joking around, even when things weren’t going his way.
He was a good guy, and she always enjoyed talking to him.
He made her laugh, and she liked that about him.
She also liked how he was always so happy to see her.
She put her hand on his arm and looked at him with a smile.
“That’s very sweet of you to say,” Sarah said with a smile as she looked into his eyes.
“I like spending time with you too.”
Henry looked at Sarah and smiled.
She was an attractive woman with long brown hair, and she had a great sense of humor.
She was also very patient with him, which he really appreciated.
He had been losing his hearing for years, and he now wore hearing aids in both ears.
He could hear most things, but sometimes he had trouble understanding what people were saying, especially if there was a lot of background noise.

Henry's hearing difficulties lead to a situation in which he mistakes the phrases "cowhide" and "cow's outside," referring to leather, to mean he should hide from a cow outside the store.
Henry Johnson walked into Sarah Jennings’ shoe store, and Sarah came over to greet him.
“Good morning, Henry,” Sarah said with a smile as she walked over to him.
“How are you today?”
“Good morning, Sarah,” Henry said with a smile as he walked over to her.
“How are you today?”
Sarah looked at Henry and smiled.
“I’m doing well, thank you for asking,” she replied with a smile.
“How about you?”
“How am I what?”
Henry asked with a smile as he looked at Sarah.
“How am I what?”
Sarah looked at Henry and smiled.
She knew that Henry had trouble hearing, but it didn’t bother her.
She liked how he was always smiling, even when things weren’t going his way.
It made her feel good to be around someone who was always in such a good mood.
“No, I mean how are you feeling?”
she asked him with a smile.
“Oh, I’m fine,” Henry replied with a smile as he sat down in the first chair he saw.
“I was just thinking about how I need new shoes again.”
Sarah laughed and sat down across from him.
“You’re always buying new shoes,” Sarah said with a smile as she took his foot in her hand and placed it on the measuring device.
“What is it that you do to them?”
“I don’t do anything to them,” Henry replied with an innocent look on his face.
“They wear out by themselves.”
Sarah laughed and took his foot out of the measuring device.
“Uh-huh,” she replied with a smile as she went to get a box of shoes in his size.
“I’m sure that’s what happens.”
A few minutes later, she came back with the shoes and sat down across from Henry again.
“Have you been up to anything fun lately?”
she asked as she opened the box and took out the new shoes for Henry to try on.
“Not really,” Henry replied as he put on the new shoes.
“I spent most of the day watching TV, just like I do every day.”
“That sounds like fun,” Sarah said with a smile as she watched Henry lace up his new shoes.
“It was nice to have some time to relax.”
“It was,” Henry replied as he stood up and looked at himself in the mirror.
“The only problem is that I need new shoes again.”
Sarah laughed and looked at Henry.
“You’re always buying new shoes,” she replied with a smile as she watched Henry walk around the store.
“What is it that you do to them?”
“I don’t do anything to them,” Henry replied as he walked back over to Sarah.
“They wear out by themselves.”
Sarah laughed and took his foot in her hand.
She put his foot on the measuring device and measured it quickly.
“What size do you wear?”
she asked as she took his foot off of the measuring device and went to get the new shoes for him.
“A size eleven and a half,” Henry replied as he sat down in the chair across from Sarah.
“But I’ll take whatever you have.”
Sarah looked at Henry and smiled.
“Okay,” she replied as she went to get the new shoes for him.
When she came back, she sat down across from him and took his old shoes off.
She put the new ones on for him, and then she tied them up.

“You don’t want me to answer that question,” Henry replied with a chuckle as he waited for Sarah to bring him his new shoes.
Sarah laughed and put the new shoes on the ground in front of Henry.
He picked them up, put them on, and stood up to look at himself in the mirror.
“So, what have you been up to?”
he asked as he laced up his new shoes.
“Not much,” Sarah replied as she watched Henry walk around the store.
“I’ve just been working, same as always.”
“That’s no fun,” Henry said as he walked back over to Sarah.
“At least you get to meet new people every day.”
“That’s true,” Sarah replied with a smile as she took Henry’s foot in her hand.
“So, what size do you wear?”
Henry looked at Sarah and smiled.
She knew that he could hardly hear anything, which was why she was talking so loud.
But when she asked him what size shoe he wears, it sounded like she was asking him what style of shoe he was looking for.
“Oh, I’m sorry,” Sarah said as she looked at Henry apologetically.
Henry shook his head and smiled as best he could.
“It’s okay,” he said loudly.
Sarah nodded and smiled.
“What size do you wear?”
she repeated loudly.
Henry listened carefully this time so that he wouldn’t get confused again.
But when Sarah asked him what size shoe he wears, it sounded like she was asking him what style of shoe he was looking for.
Henry looked at Sarah and smiled.
He didn’t want to get confused again or make a mistake like last time.
So instead of saying that he wanted a pair of shoes in his size, he said that he wanted a pair of shoes in a men’s shoe style.
“Uh…” Sarah said slowly as she looked at him in confusion.
“You want a men’s shoe style?”
Henry looked at Sarah and smiled.
He was glad that they finally understood each other.
“Yes,” he replied loudly.
Sarah laughed and looked at Henry.
“Henry, all shoes are in men’s shoe styles,” she said with a smile.
“Okay,” Henry replied with a nod.
“I’ll take these.”
Sarah smiled and stood up.
“I’ll go get them for you,” she said with a smile before walking to the back of the store.
When she came back, she set the shoes down on the counter in front of him.
“Here you go,” she said with a smile.
“How much are they?”
Henry asked as he looked at her in confusion.
“No charge,” Sarah replied with a smile.
“They’re yours for free.”
Henry smiled and stood up.
